  • Just be careful with some Koreans as majority of people are nice there but you will encounter few that will try to use you for your English language or the connection to go to US (for me Australia). There are lots of pick-pockters in Seoul as well, especially if you speak English and look like foreigner. Also, take korean friend to shopping esp markets where you need to haggle....they can rip you off big time. Anway, it is exciting time for you but you can have lots of fun too...good luck!

  • You're lucky! I'm a Korean adoptee and I'm planning on going to Korea too when I'm around your age..which'll be in a couple of years..

  • Wow, you look so fine and I love your strong voice.I really hope you to find what you are looking for. Msg me If there is anything you wanna know about korea I am from there.

  • Have a wonderful time and I hope you get all your questions answered. One of my daughters was born in Korea so I'm always interested in anything adult adoptees are saying and feeling.

    Liying

  • your video was the first related one from my page. just wanted to say i have the same concerns being a non-korean-speaking adoptee going back for the first time. i hope your trip went well... i will be optimistic and assume that it was wonderful so as to assuage my own anxieties! cheers.

  • inappropriate....

  • don't mention japan, koreans do not like japan!

    :D

  • it's a well known fact considering ther Japanese occupied Korea multiple times, learn history.

  • dude thats awesome man, i wish u well. Im a korean american altough i am not adopted I still had issues with my identity growing up in an all white neighborhood and i guess still have some issue to settle. I too am lucky enough to be going to korea this summer and I just have the greatest vision of fun and sense of appreciation for my korean roots. if u can send me a message of how ur trip went and what u learned I love to read it, otherwise good luck!

  • wow...i fucking love you bro. make sure you make a video and shout out all your friends back here in the us. only a few days, bro!

  • dude...dunno much about korea but i recommend you try some beef bulgogi while you're over there. I love that stuff. Damn...now I want some.

  • How old are you and what state do you live in? How long are you going to be in Korea when you go in March?

  • 20 and i live in PA. i plan on going for 10 days at the end of march. send me a message if you want to talk more =)

  • dude...I can hook you up. I'm korean adopted too, and I've lived in Korea. I've gone through the same thing you have in moving there.

I know lots of adoptees who live in korea and lots of resources for you. Send me a message...

  • Hi, i went to Korea and Japan not long ago. Didnt find it that hard to communicate with other SK's. Myeong Dong and Dong Dae Mun is best shopping in Seoul :P

  • You can also have a trip to Gangwondo for mountains and seashore, Incheon for small islands, Busan (your hometown!), and lots of places.. I really envy you for a trip to Korea, which I really long for! Have a great trip there and keep us updated!

  • About a trip to Korea, you should defintely visit every place in Seoul, including Gwanghwamun, Jongno (those are my places. haha), all the palaces, all the Gangnam areas, Hongdae (for clubs), Han-river, Namsan mountain,...

  • And I really appreciate that you had such a decision to go back to your past to know what is definitely related to you but you never knew.. Good luck!

  • Hi, I'm an international student (graduate) from Korea, and I thank you for sharing your stories. I've been interested in adoptees (especially Korean, of course, because I'm Korean) for a lot of reasons, and I could understand your feelings, expectations, worries, and so on... not fully (I can't say I understood you fully, because I'm not you), but quite deeply..

  • chris you can.....figure out how to talk to korean people before you go there haha. and yes you can take money o_0

  • goooaaaalllllllllllllll.... LOL

  • Have you seen the videos from Third Cat Productions here for their 'Going Home' movie?

I don't think I can post a link in comments here, but if you just search for THIRDCATPRODUCTIONS at the search box, their vidoes about going to Korea should come up.

I am really looking forward to your videos!

  • Due to lack of space it is hard to answer back some of the things you are asking. Would you like us to post back to you at Bethany? Thrilled for you and your upcoming trip!

  • no more "um", no more "and", but i love you

  • it's kind of weird looking at you this long and not poking you are doing something along those lines o.0

  • Chris,

So thrilled to hear that your trip is coming up soon and spring will be a beautiful time to see Korea. I have some travel guides and great books that I would be happy to send your way. Send me your address via email and I will ship what I have to you. I loved everything about Seoul and wish I could have stayed longer. I flew Korean Air and it was a great flight.. long, but great!

I will be watching for new updates and if you are interested in the books I have send me a note.

    :)

  • Yo Jae, Hit some Korean Clubs cause they know how to party and I'm willing to go if you need a 3rd wheel or whatever or help out you know.

  • I think it is great that you are going to Korea! I wish I had some advice for you, but I don't. Have a safe trip! It will be an amazing experience.

    Sue
