  • please do not be so judgemental and so absolute about Greeks... it breaks my heart every single day when I have to deal with the callousness of some stupid people. Still,as an ex-UK resident allow me to say that is not the "sensitivity" of Brits which saves the little ones but the legislative infrastacture and the charities they have. It's fine to point the finger but when was the last time RSPCA visited and helped Greece? It's the project management and set-up techniques we need not just money.

  • @judyroodi "yes ,i repeat, what did your ancestors do to stop the parthenon marbles being dismantled transported to ships and loaded onto boats in piraeus and took away?"...It sounds like the question "Why did your crippled grandfather do nothing to stop the robbery?" If you call the statues "stupid", then why do you persevere in keeping them? "SHAME ON YOU DEGENERATES"...Why this euphemism instead of "i hate greeks and their way of life"?

  • @judyroodi "i would be a kwloagglida if i lived in greece..." Precious confessions, indeed. Anyway, before that you said " "if i was a murderer i would gladly cut the throats of greek lady whores like yourself" although you admitted "i am a murderer". Why this misuse of the hypothetical mood when the indicative is meant ?

  • @judyroodi "murderer? are they supposed to be insults?? because im not offended atall"...Persons who confess in public "yes im a murderer" and " i would gladly cut the throats" don't tend to feel offended when called so. "by the way where is utopia?" Definitely not in the country of Thomas More.

  • "its everyday people in greece that commit crimes against animals and not goverment". Not so in Britain where the government can exterminate a whole population of cows or sheep of chickens, dump or burn the bodies and no one would protest. Instead , animal rights activists would be sent to do some witch-hunting in Greece.

  • "we didnt surrender like your stupid metaxa after the stupid no day ,we fought the war and won" In Dunkrik in May 1940 the whole British army was trapped and it was saved only by Hitler's explicit order to let the British go. In Greece it was not just "stupid metaxa" that was beaten but the British army as well. Now you may have won the war but lost the empire this war was fought to save and enlarge. Who except the British could be proud of a Pyrrhic victory ?

  • As to forest fires, Britain is safe from them only because it has got no forests. What it does have galore though are Moslems who blow up bus and underground stations.

  • @judyroodi "YES GREAT BRITAIN,green and lush countryside, animals freely grazing on grass animals being fed..." And greedy farmers feeding them on meat to get higher milk and fat production and when the wretched cows react to forced cannibalism with mad cow disease a few million cows and sheep are routinely slaughtered and burnt in huge piles in this allegedly so animal-friendly land! Large farming is very unsentimental and British farming factories are particularly advanced in this respect.

  • @judyroodi "unfortunately people from other civilised countries who havent been blinded by the sun,CAN see these horrors and are absoloutely disgusted with you as a nation"... We'll recognize "people from other civilized countries" by their truly 'civilized' discourse e.g. "i would gladly cut the throats of greek lady whores... "i hope all greek poustides die in agony with their ugly mamades", won't we? It is such a great "civilization" by the Sacred British Cow !

  • "if i was a murderer i would gladly cut the throats of greek lady whores like yourself". It is very interesting when aggressive defenders of animal rights confess how gladly they would cut people's throats. And it is also worth noting how indiscriminately ugly and notorious harlots accuse of their own sins any beautiful woman they feel in their jealousy inferior to. Perversity and inferiority complexes form a dangerous self-destructive mixture.

  • @judyroodi @judyroodi "i care about NOW"...How can you reasonably care about NOW if you don't care about what was before NOW ? It is as if someone cared about a stray dog and didn't care about what the dog has gone through until he was found. It's a self-defeating startegy not to care about the concatenation of causes and effects.

  • @judyroodi "i dont care about stupid cyprus or what our forefathers did"...But you should. It would be interesting to see you act your animal drama among the Turks in Cyprus. They are not so nice as the Greeks you hate so much. As to your forefathers, it's perhaps better you don't want to hear anything about them. They are definitely ashamed of you. Posterity like you is no doubt a disgrace!

    ,

  • @judyroodi "maybe youll get shot like that boy last year,(if your lucky)"... or maybe an erratic animal rights from the UK activist will be mortally bitten by a mad dog ? That would be the best ending for her career and the dog might deserve a medal.

  • But why look for Africa? Take a glance at the Moslems quarters in Londonistan around Ramadan to see what unspeakable agony the animals are going through there on animal-friendly British soil before they are slaughtered in cold blood or recall the sickening massacres of cows, sheep and chickens in Britain a few years ago. I hope that in your apostolic zeal for animals' rights abroad you haven't forgotten the ghastly animal massacres in your own homeland.

  • "even in Africa they treat animals and thir enviroment with more respect ."... You must be crazy making this statement ! In Africa human life has no value with tribalism on the rise, so what respect can you find for animals there? Have you ever heard of "bushmeat" or how exotic animals are caught in Africa for sale in the West?

  • @judyroodi , As to "phoney culture" , just a look at the English or any other European language proves that if one removed all words of Greek origin from it, English and any other European language would become a language of uncouth barbarians - a language where no scientific and spiritual issues could be expressed. Forget "logic", "history", "philosophy", "cosmology"... and live on in your true culture of higher British barbarity !

  • @judyroodi " BOYCOTT GREECE AND ITS PHONEY CULTURE,THEVE GOTTEN AWAY WITH IT FOR TOO LONG"... I remember having heard a similar manifesto. It was when the British were bombing Athens in December 1944, changing the Parthenon into a fortress and doing what the Nazis had never done to Athens - destroying large parts of it. An apology for it would be nice but instead I hear the old colonial British song "What we once did with bombs we continue with words".

  • oh! you have erased (once more) my comments as well as YOUR comments when you were calling me a KOTA(=CHICKEN). Why did you do that since you LOVE animals? Why are you using their name as an insault? YOU HYPOCRITE!!!

  • Calling me names reveals your good manners!!!!!!!!!!!

And why are you calling me KOTA(meaning CHICKEN)? I thought you loved animals but now you are using their name as an insult? Now YOU just revealed your hypocritical nature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye, byeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • and don't overwritte your idiotic comments again, you have done it in the past, we know that! Just keep exposing yourself!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am not missing the point, I am answering to you based on YOUR ironical correlations in your comments

  • Personally, I studied in Greece but dont have any problem with those who studied abroadthe analysis of the economic situation (and the matter of educational system etc etc) in Greece from the time it became a free nation state, is another issue!

But the arrogance and the ignorance of yours is so hopeless that I wont bother with you anymore. I think that was enough with you and the rest of you!

  • Just as I said before, foolishness never abandoned our world! Unfortunately!

  • You are reallly pathetic jooooodiiii, judy, mr.Karanos or whatever name you want! (how many do you need and do you use in order to support your idiotic thoughts?)

  • So let me know my country better than you and judge the good and the bad things without empathy!

I wont talk to you anymore because you are not a trustfull person, because you are claiming things based on ill fantasy and because I HAVE AND OTHER THINGS TO DO IN MY LIFE BESIDES ARGUING IN THE U-TUBE WITH OBSESSIVE PERSONALITIES!

  • (and i know that some people are blocked from posting! how niceeeeeeeeeeeee!)

  • judyroody and TakisKaranos is the same mentaly challenged english ''lady''....

she has issues....she accuses a whole nation for cruelty while the most horrendous incident of animal cruelty ever happened in Greece was done by an english tourist..that psycho raped to death a....PELECAN in Myconos...!

it was inthe news all over Greece then...

me and my friends have suggested mrs Judy many times so far to seek professional help...a woman in menopause with 3 kids shouldnt jurk off on yt 24/7!

  • Jo.oodi you should better apologize for the ridiculous accusations that this video and some comments make about my country and for the bad will that some of you have in order to claim such things. Tell me really, all the animals in England have a perfect life? Do all British people respect them? I would really like your opinion on that!

  • You should also, apologize for everything i mentioned earlier about the SLAUGHTERS and the EXPLOITATION you offered to the world. Since you accuse my country using fake charges, I accuse yours for very much realistic, historical facts that everybody knows! Its your choice, not mine.

  • Then apologize for your arrogance, since you ironically refer to the greek STUDENTS who are paying A LOT OF MONEY in order to STUDY abroad. But, I didnt come for vacations in your country in order to get drunk, fucked and then blame the others, you see! And you know very well that the purpose of many young British tourists is exactly that!

  • Sorry for you, but they have even admitted that on TV! There are even specific terms that British insurance companies have included concerning British tourists who when going back to their countries, are ready for abortions (of course the companies have no intention to pay for them). So just keep your mouth shut when you are talking about greek STUDENTS. And try to focus on what is being discussed concerning the video!

Is it so difficult for you to understand?

  • Anyway, it is so much hopeless to discuss with people who have obsessions orother things in mind! So, let it beignorance and foolishness never abandoned this world!

  • Well Judy or whatever your name or/and nationality is (that goes well too, to the guy who uploaded the video):

It seems you have an unjustifiable anger for my country and you are trying to give the impression that Greeks are people who mistreat animals.

You are trying out of isolated incidents to criticize a whole nation! Oh! This is not good reasoning.

You mean that in your country people are ALWAYS nice to animals, nature and other human beings?

  • If you had ever lived in Greece you should have realize the truth, since in Greece every second home has a pet to take care of. But I imagine that your problem with my country is of different origins: psychological or propagandistic. I think that this is quite obvious to whoever has some mind to think.

  • I would suggest you then at first to visit a good psychotherapist.

In any other case I would suggest you to throw your mask and stop propagandizing against my country for reasons that you know.and I may suspect.

  • Moreover, when someone is talking to you about Englands murderous policies, youre saying that this is just politics. I have to inform you however, that policies and politics are guided by human beings and not by robots. And that explains at a great extend the CULTURE of a nation.

  • So I would expect from a British citizen so much concerned about the suffering of animals, to condemn every murderous actions that have taken place against other human beings and civilizations in the name of the British empire.

  • Also, concerning the British tourists, I have not witnessed their civilized nature in most casesunfortunately.

  • I am heartbroken at the appalling treatment of animals in Greece. It is not somewhere I will ever go to again.

It is not just the fact that they have the highest population of strays in Europe. It is how they treat them. Strays face being poisoned, hanged, shot, run over and if not killed instantly left to die.

I have seen so many cases of dogs and cats having acid thrown over them or fireworks being tied to them. Purely for fun!

    WHY????? It is pure evil.

  • Animal abuse in Greece breaks my heart. It is inexcusable and this country needs to clean up it's act.

I support a boycott of Greece, only because my idea of a holiday is not to witness animal cruelty, neglect and abuse on every corner. No matter how beautiful the landscape!

  • Yes, Greece has been the "cradle of civilisation", but now Greece, or Turkey, or Italy are the cradle of Barbarians! Since the authorities know only the language of money we must talk the same language: boycott tourism in Countries in wich animals are abused, poisoned, tortured...I know what I'm talking about, I'm Italian and I spend my energies and my money to help animals. We have to hit where it hurts, pockets! Spay and neuter is the answer, not killing

  • We can always rely on hoaudito to sniff out EVERY truthful video about greek animal abuse, pity he doesnt use some of that energy in helping the strays!

  • hoaudito ...... so animal abuse is supposed to be ignored and dismissed, because by showing it/talking about it portrays people in a bad way? How can telling the truth be described as 'promoting hate'??? Think before you open your mouth!

  • For the people that believe this is an animal cruelty page .... take a look on how easy it is for your love of animals to be used as hate for people , you are been used in the most horrible way to promote hate , don't play their game

  • to boycott Countries where animals are abused is not promoting hate, the opposite! It's a request to help in a civil way. Abusers are those who hate!

  • For the people that believe this is an animal cruelty page .... take a look on how easy it is for your love of animals to be used as hate for people , you are been used in the most horrible way to promote hate , don't play their game

  • Σείριε, το πρόβλημα δεν είναι ο κάθε Έλληνας μεμονωμένα. Αλλιώς θα έπρεπε να υπαρχουν 10.000.000 video.

  • nice random pictures, supposedly from greece...

most of those dogs were fatter than my own dogs btw...

which means that people feed them.

  • Seirious86, "nice random pictures, supposedly from greece" So you are obviously one of the many "in denial" Greeks! Nice to hear that you actually feed YOUR dogs even though you do evidently regard them as under nourished! Yes, we do realise that "people feed them" (referring to strays of course, but what do they feed thousands of cats and dogs on? Try poison or crushed glass hidden in food! Instead of making silly comments, why dont you make an effort to help?

  • "Try poison or crushed glass hidden in food"

and then the anticrist walked the earth...

btw, its better than in asia, where they skin and boil them alive, and eat them...

  • I wouldnt expect anything less from the chinese, but I do expect something better from the "cradle of civilisation" who have been in the EU since 1981!

  • stratihov ... regarding photos .... many of the photos you have on your page are photos of dogs in Athens and I personally know two of several individuals who feed them. In fact one friend said that she recognises many dogs .... Over the past 21 years I myself have taken thousands (I'm not exaggerating!!) photos of animals in Greece and I don't mind if somebody uses them, as long as they don't 'make up stories' about them (where & in what circumstances certain animals were pictured).

  • Does it really matter who took the photographs, the point is they are real and just the tip of the iceberg in the numbers of thaousands of animals poisoned. Greece has the worst animal abuse record per capita in the EU. If you want to see "original" photos, take a look at some of my slideshows!

  • stratihov, I copied the pictures for this video from various facebook groups. I couldn't know who took them. If you want them removed, just let me know.

  • You should ask permission before you take something and partner it with such a strong statement. I dont think a boycott of Greece will change anything. Honestly I think it will have the complete opposite effect that you want. Less money in means less money out. If you think the government doesnt care about the animals now wait till there is less money. Education is the only answer. Greece is new to pet ownership and it needs to learn to be responsible

  • My friend, please keep the advice to yourself. I asked you something very specific: do you want the pictures to be removed or not? I could have just ignored your message, I could have it deleted or even blocked. I am NOT that type of person though. As for the strong statement its totally up to me and it will stay that way. You have your opinion, I have mine. End of story.

  • first off half of the pictures on this video belong to me. I have been doing a documentary on the dogs in greece for a couple years now and I have come to one real conclusion. It is not a Greek problem it is a global problem. In the U.S.A. we currently kill millions of stray and shelter animals a year.every year. I am not saying I am happy with how things are in Greece but if everyone would start fixing things in their own backyard maybe we could effect real change, think globally act locally.

  • stratihov

I am shocked at your attitude "fix things in our own backyard". Greek strays dont have the "luxury" of humane euthanasia, just mass poisoning instead. Greek animal lovers are in the minority & ask for outside help as their own govt doesnt support them.We try to help our EU fellow citizens, perhaps that surprises you! If you did your homework you will find the situation is far far worse in Greece than in U.S

  • i hope the people who do that to animals get fucked up hard

  • Additional to the terrible abuse of animals in Greece certain insane persons spread slanderous lies about animal welfare activists and treat everybody - Greeks and foreigners - who try to help the poor creatures as criminals! Instead of chasing the torturers and killers they chase the rescuers - and are supported by an ignorant and incompetent government!

  • We have to be trustworthy to deserve to have stray animals. As long as we aint they have to be neutered so as not to be many because they are abused, even in places where normally they should find decent shelter

  • Amazing, Dimitri. Made me cry and I still have goosebumps. The whole world should see this video and wake up to the truth of Greece. If you can't take a Greek dog and give it a home, or go and help at a shelter, or financially support the charities trying to make a difference, the least you can do is choose not to holiday there. Please, BOYCOTT GREECE. Only when the tourist money dries up will Greece be forced to take action.....

  • Boycotting Greece is a god idea. I doubt it will make any difference to the govt's attitude, or the local mayors who sanction mass poisoning of strays. People buy puppies from petshops ; they come from puppy farms in Hungary & the Balkans. These puppies are purchased by people, on a whim.

The Greek Kennel Club does nothing to help with these problems. One of the main puppy importers who supplies the pet shops is a member of the Greek KC!

Greeks do not have a western attitude towards dogs.

  • Next time you visit Greece see also how many of this dogs and cats are well taking care off from all the people that live around them, it is sad to juge a country by some videos that they wore taking by tourist. the problem is big we know and we try for the best and we will never stop trying, so yes come visit Greece and if you see one that touch your heart take it home with you.

    Secratary of S.A.W.A

  • I agree. That is why we have put together a volunteer trip in June to GO to Greece and provide HANDS ON HELP. Our organization is called inside/out. JOIN US AND BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION! Many people make postings, sign petitions, and just talk, very few actually DO something. Be one who DOES SOMETHING!

  • As long as there is this total apathy and disregard by the Government, they leave us no choice but to ACT UP. The problem has to be addressed at the TOP and not at the bottom or in the middle as we have been trying to do for the last 15 years. We cannot block the roads, burn down the university, or blow up banks but we have to get their attention by calling this problem of animal cruelty to the attention of the world. Only the government has the power to enforce the law. Great Video

  • And I agree that the same goes for the Greek products abroad I'll be back very soon with a new video, please spread the word...

  • dimz5552 - if you need any 'material' for your video, let me know. You're so right in everything you say! Don't worry, many of us 'foreigners' have left our hearts in Greece when we first saw the tragic plight of animals - and we are not quitters ... many animals in Greece are counting on us to 'keep going' and help as many of them as we can.

  • Thank you all for your comments. I need to make something clear. Boycotting Greece is not an act of hostility or revenge. It is a simple act of solidarity. I could never suggest that all these people who visit Greece just to offer their help should stop doing that. All I suggest is that tourist exchange inflows towards Greece should be cut as a way to create a local domino effect that would put pressure to the authorities.

  • I doubt that boyccoting Greece would actually bring a solution..

I live in Greece and I tell you : The authorities and the government THEY JUST DON'T CARE.

We, the greek people who have been struggling for ages for animal welfare issues..WE NEED YOU.You have given us precious help to continue our effort.

Start thinking the other way round:

Come to Greece and report everything you see. Come and work with us.Support a greek animal rescue society.

WE CAN CHANGE THINGS IF WE STAY TOGETHER

  • marytect75....I don't think that the help/donations you have been receiving from tourists etc will diminish, but we have to make the Greek government take notice!!! They're spending more than 80 MILLION euros a year on advertising campaigns, but NOTHING on the animals and that is NOT right!! They reckon that around 15 million tourists went to Greece last year - that's more than the entire Greek population (less than 12 million)!! I agree with your last sentence.... united we will be stronger!

  • As long as Agrarminister Kiltidis and the veterinarian association dont allow foreign vets to neuter the stray animals nothing will change.

The 1. responsible person for the strayproblem is Konstantin Kiltidis.

All foreigners can try to help as much as they can- the animals get faster babies than you can help...

Boycott greece is a fantastic thing- this includes also the procucts in your local shops (olive and Feta cheese).

Write to your supermarkets to take this products out.....

  • I have one dog I got from Greece. She was abandoned with a very large burn down her side, a probable cigarette burn on her thigh and a cut ear. This was nearly 9 years ago and she is still a beautiful, gentle member of the family. Every day I know I did the right thing in bringing her here, with the help of a Greek Animal charity, as I would not have known how to without them.

  • Very moving video. Great that it was posted by a Greek. It's not just us sentimental tourists that get upset about the condition of many Greek animals. Many Greeks seem blind to the suffering they see every day on their streets. Instead of helping the strays they are poisoned! Where is their Christian charity!

  • What a great video and so nice pictures...I almost cried...Please help us all stop animal cruelty in Greece...only travel there if you want to help the animals...

  • As for greece what else could someone expect from a regressive country which is still governed by the church...

  • I don't care if others believe that I and all the Macedonians who criticize greeks for animal abuse,we do it for political reasons.Personally except from Macedonian,I am also an animal lover!.The point is that this specific account which I have, targets an other subject.Despite that,I want to expressing my sensitivity towards animals and I will be doing this.Every country which doesn't care about animals deserves our disrespect.

  • This video says it all.. Greece has to wake up and enforce the law that already excist from 2003..

  • I would not visit Greece for a holiday. The only reason I would set foot on Greece would be to help an animal shelter and to assist the rescue organisations in their daily task of saving these precious voiceless dogs and cats who are poisoned, beaten, starved and tossed out like rubbish, abandoned and ignored by so many year in and year out. This is 2009, why is the Greek government turning a blind eye to this terrible cruelty?

  • You think like me.. Will be leaving in april for two weeks to help in a animal shelter in Crete. I even started a foundation in The Netherlands to help the local animal welfare groups in Crete..

  • It is truly a very upsetting state of affairs and so frustrating that the Greek Government just ignores what is happening.

Thank goodness for Greek animal lovers like the person who uploaded this video, who openly admit they are in the minority, a good reason why "outsiders" need to support these people as well as the animals. I also applaud the hard working charity workers and volunteers.

  • Greece ... The cradle of civilisation?? NO, the cesspit of misery for most strays and countless of owned animals too, especially 'guard dogs', chained 24/7, often with just a rusty oil drum for shelter .... What about the hundreds of thousands of cats and kittens, who rarely survive from one holiday season to the next .... overworked donkeys and mules ... the list goes on and on....

  • On the surface it looks a beautiful country, well actually the scenery is the best, but it has this dark side which most tourists don't know about. Cats and dogs are just abandoned on the streets like old toys and the worst is to come, at the end of every tourist season, October/November onwards, the poison bait is laid to clear the streets. Sometimes crushed glass or "fola" hidden in food is used. It is heart-breaking.The govt doesn't listen, they are not concerned at all about the abuse.

  • What a mesmerising beginning to the video .... but it all soon changes and the real 'GREEK TRAGEDY' unfolds; some of Greece's tens of thousands of strays, most of which are doomed from the moment they are born! Wake up Greece!! This is 21st century!!! A member of the EU since 1981, which benefited people hugely, yet the strays are still being treated as vermin that needs to be exterminated .... and they are, in their thousands, by poisoning, hanging, drowning .....
