  • Simple chording along with his HIC-UP word ending really makes it a very nice song. Liked the first time I heard it.

  • For some reason, I remembered him playing a flying V. Maybe I got my Paul Stanley guitars mixed up

  • I remember seeing this episode. I like the song. It's a shame you cannot get the original version on cd today.

  • Hey LB, just curious. Do you know who the Pat Benatar dancer was at 4:18 of the video?

  • @bkgtubster - sorry I don't.

  • @bkgtubster Ah...no.

  • does anybody know where rocky is now? thanks...

  • Thanks for posting this. It is great to see Rocky, but it is even better to see Darcel. What a dish she was!

  • Truth be told, 25 years later she still is.

  • I'll take you word for it, I have not seen her in many years. I have read she quit show business.....

  • The male dancer was there on the1st show countdown and the female dancer has appeared at other times as a fill in.

  • To me the the short latin dudew/ the mustache wasn't on SG' 79. The guy in Solid Gold '79 had dark brown hair and appears as a dancer in the movie "Xanadu". Check out the video of Xanadu. Plus this guy here is a much better dancer than the one in SG'79.

  • You're right ronafer69, the mustached male dancer from SG '79 and the Latin mustached male dancer from the early series episodes are not the same man.

  • Rocky Burnette is super-cool!!!!!!

  • Yeah that was a great Xanudu dance

and his rhythm is better than Tony's for Upside Down. HOT!

  • Great videos, and I mean all of them. Do you have the episode of "The Break Up Song" by the Greg Kihn Band? If you do, can you post that episode? That's a great tune..

  • Don't know. I'll look and if I do, I will post it!

  • The only hosts I remember were Dionne Warwick, Marilyn McCoo and Rick Dees. Sadly, I don't remember when Andy Gibb hosted.

  • The order was like this:

    Dionne Warwick - Season 1/80-81

Andy Gibb & Marilyn McCoo - Season 2/81-82

Rex Smith & Marilyn McCoo - Season 3/82-83

    Marilyn McCoo - Season 4/83-84

    Rick Dees - Season 5/84-85

    Dionne Warwick - Season 6/85-86

    Marilyn McCoo - Seasons 7 & 8/86-88

  • Sold Gold was one hell of a show. I used to have a poster of the Solid Gold Dancers on my wall...lol.

  • The ones that came in the cereal? I collected all 4 (I actually still have them!)

Plus a mini photo album that I made from cutting out pictures from TV Guide and anywhere else I found pics of the dancers!

  • LOL...I'm talking almost 25 years ago. My cousin gave me one of hers. She had a duplicate of one of her posters and gave me one. I guess she got hers the way you mentioned. When I was little I used to dance around the living room when the show was on and pretend I was a Solid Gold dancer. LMAO!

  • Me too! (SHHHHH!)

  • LOL!

  • I remember this, thanks for sharing. I can recall, on one episode, a substitute male dancer (that looked like the other guy from Solid Gold '79) appeared briefly during a partnered routine in the countdown. The opening number and closing only consisted of seven dancers. The Pat Benatar-looking dancer was also on that episode. Once you think about it, Solid Gold threw a lot of variations at us through the years. I guess only the truly die-hard fans would catch it...lol.

  • Thanks!!! With our SG expertise we can launch our own SG website!!! Some SG websites that I've come across don't have the correct info we know about the SG dancers.

  • LOL - ah.....the possibilities!

  • And while you're doing that website, would you please add a section on Brad Lachman? He's a TV genius!

  • This is looks like the shows 3rd episode back in October 1980, in which Tony Fields wasn't in (he wasn't in the 4th episode either) and Kahea Bright didn't join the show till the 5th episode.

  • WOW you definitely have your facts down!! Thanks for the info....I feel even more like a SG junkie!! LOL

  • Thanks, Solid Gold was one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

  • Here I had thought I had cornered the market on being a fanatic of the show, but some of the knowledge you guys display in these few comments alone prove me way wrong!! Glad I am not alone!

  • That's the magic of YouTube. :)

  • They look like the same dancers featured in Solid Gold '79. Nevertheless, a great compilation from the series' first year.

  • 4 of the 8 dancers on this particular episode are from the Solid Gold 79 pilot, Paula Beyers, Alex Cole, Deborah Jensen, and Darcel Wynne

  • I was told also that the blonde dancer on Solid Gold '79 is Gayle Crofoot who joined SG later in 1982. At first I wasn't sure, but after looking at her up close maybe it is her. What are your thoughts on this ?

  • You have a very good eye! As in the Solid Gold '79 Dancers, 5 dancers continued on to the weekly series. They are Paula Beyers (with much longer hair!), Alex Cole, Deborah Jensen, and Darcel Wynne. Gayle Crofoot who appeared on Solid Gold '79 later joined Solid Gold along with Janeen Best when Helene Phillips and Paula departed.

  • Yes - you are correct. Gayle was in the Pilot Special then couldn't be in the first season of SG because she was perfoming on Broadway in NYC and returned once her gig was up and returned when an availble spot came up. I got that info DIRECTLY from Gayle herself on one of my many visits to see a taping of the show.
