Ravens are smart but they are not "way smarter than raptors." Raptors are also extremely intelligent. Look on youtube for the video "sparrowhawk drowns magpie." A sparrowhawk is fighting a magpie - a member of the Corvidae family - and drags it several metres to a nearby pond and deliberately pushes it under the water.
To the poster Kalolutel, it was NOT a Raven! I've been in the avian field, for over 15+yrs and have QUITE a bit of field experience. The bird is an American Crow, and they do call out like that, when there upset over something. If it had been a Raven, for starters the Hawk wouldn't still be sitting there. Plus you could notice the size difference almost immediately, as Ravens are the size of that Hawk with wingspans of nearly 4ft. A Crow's wingspan is almost 3ft across. So it certainly is a crow
The reason as to why the raven was so upset can be due to the hawk being in its territory where a nest could be near by. So it can be trying to get the hawk to fly away.
was it a baby raven it was eating? I don't see any distinct indication of what the hawk was eating. Though I agree with LeeMuyo, its a raven not a crow. Crows don't call out like that, they don't have the extra 'chin' when calling out.
crows, seagulls and jays are jerks! they attack the noble and majestic raptors for no purpose somtimes a hawk will just be sitting on its perch and it gets harrased bye these "gangsters" of the skyes.
hHAHaahah fantastic, Ravens are waaaaay smarter than raptors. They're part of the chosen post-apocalyptic animals, like coyotes, cockroaches, and rats. Embrace the future!
the black bird is defenitely a crow - ravens are bulkier/bigger, especially their beaks are longer/heavier. the bird of prey is defenitely not an eagle - eagles are much bigger, it is a hawk.
Thats not a golden eagle it is a Falcon. Golden eagles are much bigger and as amoss kindly pointed out they have feathered legs. Golden eagles are big enough to fly off with small goats never mind baby crows. Also its a raven not a crow.
shit...if an eagle were attacking or eating one of MY babies, hell yeah I'd try and beat the hell out of the attacker...even if he were many times bigger than me.
you can cramp 20 crows into golden eagle's cavity. the one on your vid may hold tow or three crows.since i DO BELIEVE YOU it must be new spices , midget, or hyb. a juvenile golden eagle away from nest munching by itself is as big as adult ge.one thing sure i saw tow birds noisy one:crow the other:UFO.
sorry dude, but I have over 100 individual pics of this bird and have done multiple comparisons of golden eagle pics and this bird is a juvenile Golden Eagle. Apparently these eagles nest on Catalina Island and are known to hunt up to 60 miles from the nest. Well, I live in Huntington Beach, CA approx. 25 to 30 miles from Catalina. So... You're dumb. Lol
Sorry retard, but you're wrong. Ask any falconer, they will tell you that it isn't a Golden Eagle, adult or juvenile 100%. That's also just judging from its silhouette as you cannot distinctly see the bird or its features good enough to distinguish it from other species because of your amateur camera skills. It's either a hawk, falcon, or buzzard.
That poor baby crow getting ripped alive while it's parent's watch.......that's just really fucked up.... Nature sucks ass

Haha. I love how the crow is SO pissed, and the eagle/falcon just sorta....shats.
Unintentionally funny video! Poor crow. I hope he feels vindicated, at least, for cawing his head off and hurting the eagle/falcon/whatever's ears.

That ravens lucky. I'd say that hawk just ate a raven and is too full to bother killing him! Don't know how he stood the noise of the bstrd tho!

yeah its a crow, that annoying sound they make is unforgettable, and like kdnc3 said, its too small to be a golden eagle.
