The whole issue with carbon dating had to do with some sources of carbon having higher concentrations of C13 isotope - this is most notably seen on the ocean floor where sealife and creatures that feed on it have consistently skewed results to a greater age than is true. The techniques has limits, but that does not render it invalid.
But yeah, the rate of decay of the isotopes is the same. Whatever source Venom is reading from seems very off.

The whole issue with carbon dating had to do with some sources of carbon having higher concentrations of C13 isotope - this is most notably seen on the ocean floor where sealife and creatures that feed on it have consistently skewed results to a greater age than is true. The techniques has limits, but that does not render it invalid.
But yeah, the rate of decay of the isotopes is the same. Whatever source Venom is reading from seems very off.

I think he's referring to Rhenium-187. It has a half-life of 41.6 billion year.
fully ionised Rhenium-187 atoms (bare nuclei, without the 75 electrons) decay by Bound-state β- decay in 32.9 year. So the factor of a billion is about right.
This is of course a unique exception. Variation in decay rates of other isotopes due to chemical environment are less than 1%.
