They were on a 4 man reconnaissance mission in Afg and were compromised by 2 goat herders and a young boy. They let them go and about 2 hrs later about 80 to 200 taliban fighters showed up. Firefight broke out and Matt Axelson, Danny Dietz, and Michael Murphy (Awarded Medal of Honor) were KIA. The recuse helicopter was shot down and all men aboard were killed. Google Operation Redwing and read about the full story, very inspiring story of great men who died for our country.

Join the Army for starters. If you want to be a pilot, you would need to attend a WarrantOfficer course, then attend Flight School and graduate. After let's say 4-5 years as a pilot you could apply for Green Platoon. If you want to be in the support sector, you would need to obtain the right MOS. Officers genrealy are in the administrative functions in the 160th but thats not the rule. Google: Green Platoon and there you will find out what types of MOS are needed in the 160th.

The book by Marcus Luttrell Amazing. One of the few books I enjoyed, if not the most I enjoyed. LT. Murphy lived about 10-20minutes away from my house. It would have been an honor to know him.
Can't wait to see the movie. I'm not sure if they said it will be out by 2009 or filming starts 2009. Regardless, it will be a must see, for me that is.

I actually own a copy of Operation Red Wing. The book is he is very detailed as to what happened and how. He also gave us insight as to who everyone was and information about them. R.I.P. to the 19 who died that day. Three of Luttrell's friends and teamates on the ground, and the 16 on board the MH47 rescue helicopter.

Once the movie comes out I hope the American people can learn about these silent professionals. The best of the best, the ones that do their job with no complaint, all humility, and stay till the job is done.
I believe they show the true meaning of America, and what She still stands for. Alot of people try to disfigure Her name, but this video shows there is still alot of good, and fight left in America.

Matt Axelson went to my highschool (the redhead guy with a beard), When he died it wasnt mentioned in the school newspaper, no moment of silence no nothing, The school newspaper did mention some dumbass alumni who died on a motorcycle going on the wrong way of the road. It's great that someone from poland has paid their respect to these great men. If only there were more people like you.

I actually own a copy of Operation Red Wing. The book is he is very detailed as to what happened and how. He also gave us insight as to who everyone was and information about them. R.I.P. to the 19 who died that day. Three of Luttrell's friends and teamates on the ground, and the 16 on board the MH47 rescue helicopter.

u need to read lone survivor. i cant explain fully what these guys did, what happened, an after reading the book myself, i wouldnt want to even try. get the book, trust me, u will not regret it.
