  • 3D is awesome but must be shot in 3d not converted but i have talked to tons of people who love it and now are buying 3d tvs and with 3ds 3d is moving forward

  • When this comes up, I always remember this one guy I saw on some program not long ago talking about how 3D technology was the future. And now the popularity of 3D already seems to be on the decline.

  • 3D gives me head aches. If 3D replaces 2D, I'm gonna be pissed!

  • @haulbass17

Don't worry it wont. We don't have the affordability too.

  • 3D is a fad, its just another way to milk money out of people with deep pockets just stick with HD television if I wanted true immersion I'd go for a walk in the woods.

  • 3D is a fad! most people are buying these TV's to watch movies that they've already seen in the theater, and the television/cable operators have no plans to produce any 3D content because the cost of production is too expensive. cable providers (like comcast) will not upgrade their boxes because networks have no interest in producing shows in 3D. without support from TV networks it's dead in the water. it's a fad! I give it a shelf life of four years.

  • @theylied1776 i disagree i now shoot alot of my films in 3d and people love it and with 3ds and 3d tablett and stuff is here to stay

  • @3dlifefilms Well, 3D ticket sales have fell off a cliff in 2010-11 according to PC/World and CNET, and the biggest grossing 3D movies last year, other than Transformers, were animation, not live action. Another disappointing year at the box office, like last year, and that's it for 3D.

You can disagree all you want, but 3D was a Fad in the 50's, 60's, 70's , 80's and it is Now.

  • @theylied1776 that's true but i think this time 3d is here to stay aleaset for 10 years because you have 3ds and 3d videogames and now a 3d tablett and salesfor the 3ds is 4 million consoles sold just in the us alone and with more people buying the 3ds which beat the vita 6 to 1 disagree or not 3d is not going anywhere even if some call it a fad but then is the dvd and cell phones there fads too and you have other things that are a fad..so im really sorry your not for 3d but some do like 3d

  • @3dlifefilms O.K, my comments are about 3D in relation to the movie industry, not video games. Besides, converting a video game to 3D (doesn't come close) to the production cost of converting or making a full length feature film, in 3D. It's all about the money. As far as the movie industry goes, it was a fad in the fifties and it's a fad now.

By the way, DVD's are a fad, just ask Block Buster, if you can find one? But, cell phones have more than one use, so, there here to stay.

  • Is that the "Electric Sheep" screensaver?

  • I never liked 3d it never was that cool and it seems more like a gimmick.

  • for me 3D wont catch on at all with those people that actually have their own opion and dont follow the sheep and can see the fact all the 3d is, is more just like 2d with extra clarity. think about it, 3d as advertised is supposed to give the feel the action is in your lap. how ever ive been to a few now and i have to say i couldnt be bothered wearing the glasses as i didnt get the experince it was advertised as. an thats sad.. make the movie become though its right on me and ill be happy

  • but, what would we need 3d for? its really unnecessary and kinda costly....

  • yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh

  • Ooooohhhhhh 3DS... *drools*

  • yea these stupid companies are really trying to push 3D.

  • When the fuck will the 3D fad END?!

  • this whole idea of 'going to motion pictures' was a fad too

  • @TheFenerli10 Haha, you obviously don't know what a fad is.

  • @ericleb01 i mean that's what people thought back then. so 3D will probably succeed is my point

  • @TheFenerli10 Ah, sorry, misunderstood you.

  • @ericleb01 no problem i can see why you might

  • 3D operating system

  • Have u guys seen the new 3d box from virgin

  • I heard Sky TV is going 3D

  • #LOL 0:31

    3D is a fad...

  • The new Killzone release is going to have a optional 3D feature. For the rich who have 3D TV's of course I'm sure.

  • does it exist 3-d-glasses with bent linses so that you dont have to have glasses on glasses... not that i need any but...but...but.. im fucking slow right now

  • i certainly hope 3D doesn't catch on because it doesn't work for us cyclopses

  • @Retinoschesis Or us pirates...

    "what's a pirate's favourite letter?"

    "Arrrr?"

"No, It be the mighty C."

  • 3d won't be popular until they make hologram images, that'll be the day when everyone will be pretending to be princess leila XD

  • why is chris not hopeful for 3d porn??? god i have been waiting for this ever since 3d created lol, no joke. but i do agree with chris it will take a long time before 3d is a norm. 5 years?

  • its a fag

  • i was in southland SC today, and panasonic had a 3d tv coming out with glasses, i sat down to try it out, watched one of the previews and after i got up and took off their glasses, my eyes where sooo blurry, massive eye ruiner.

  • 3D....wont last

  • I can stand 3D it doesn't add anything to a movie.... listen to Mark Kermode on the matter

  • what version of windows are you using just asking thanks for letting me know

  • I've got 3D support for my games, wished I bought the glasses =.="

  • WTF why doesn't your videos work, always get a black screen. Every other video not on your channel is fine

  • Its a fad that has outlasted its usefullness a LONG time ago!!! get rid of it already!!!!!!!!!

  • If you didnt need glasses and there was a turn on turn off option on your Tv or Computer then it would be good FUCK GLASSES

  • Everything around me is already 3D

  • 3d won't catch on until we remove the need for glasses

  • @hamtotem yeah I agree but some select few will still get it, also if it was an update to make your set glasses free at some future point then people would switch knowing that the glasses wont be perminent.

  • @hamtotem the rumored ds?

  • @tavogp

lol, its not rumoured because its actually true. but im talking about 3d television without glasses.

  • @hamtotem They have already removed the need for glasses.

  • 3D? For gaming - I suppose I can see some potential there. TV - no way. And stay the fuck out my cinema. I do not go to see films pop out at me. That's not how the medium of film works. You go to watch something unfold before you and be *drawn in* to an experience. Like a sort of voyeurism, the projected movie is akin to peeping through a window and becoming involved in the goings on of people you haven't met before. That's why I go to the movies. The spectacle bullshit is a distant second.

  • @TheConciseStatement I AGREE SOOOO MUCH WITH YOUR STATEMENT!!!! IF you have a great story, there is no need to have something "pop out" at you! Get rid of it already!

  • @eagleeyez128

Cheers. And on the issue of spectacle : look, it's always been there since the very beginning with audiences in awe of the famous 'moving train' and I'm not totally against a sense of visual wonder. But in the post CGI world swallowing up every holiday season, where you can pretty much draw anything, and detach the viewer from any sense of realistic physics or location, do we REALLY need a film industry pumping more money into the visuals with 3D instead of fixing the damn scripts?

  • @TheConciseStatement AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @eagleeyez128 i went to Avatar in IMAX 3D and the visuals were to the extreme, 3D made it significantly a better experience (ive seen it non3D also)

  • @spyderpilotuser there is such a thing as TOO MUCH! I saw Avatar in 3D! great film in 3D, but we dont need every freckin movie from now on to be in 3D. It gets tiring and there are films that are better suited NOT in 3D

  • @eagleeyez128 i agree, although it was awesome, its not necessary, especially for nonaction films and such.

  • I know you'd hear this a lot, but since Hollywood is in deficiency of ideas for films, they tend to use the lamest ideas ever, and to make money they make it 3D.

  • All Chris ever does in now is either advertise fail software or criticise things.

  • And yes, i do own a 55'' 3d tv. But im quite happy to sit back and watch my 30+ S3D movies, or i might just turn the 3d off and watch a normal 2d BD movie. 3d is not for everyone i understand, but dont bag it until you really know what its all about.

Highest grossing film of all time....Avatar. Oh wait, it was in 3d wasn't it?

3D a fad......i think not. 3D for everything.....it wont work. 3D as an excellent feature to use, or not to use when you feel like it.....Winner.

  • 3D has been used in one porn as far as i know. from what i read, not pleasent

  • @KainDrake 3D has been used in several porn movies, there are around 15 titles that i know are available in true stereoscopic 3d. These have been specifically made for this 3d tv technology.

  • I wonder.....out of all the 3d bashers posting here, how many have a 3d tv? None i suspect. As to getting headaches with the glasses, how the hell do you get a headache from wearing 3d glasses? Its either the content you are watching, the display is not set up right or you are one of the 6% that stereography doesn't agree with. Remember, you aren't going to watch 10 hours of 3d movies a day. Maybe 1 a week, maybe.

Anyone calling this a gimmick obviously hasn't done their research.

  • chris bring your old stuff back this is sucking now

  • Ahem Virtualboy

  • i love the screen saver on the other monitor back there.

  • 3D is a fad just like the wii and is a gimmick to make money off movies that are sometimes just left better without 3D. And spending 4000 dollars on a 3D tv and still having to wear retarded looking glasses is just a waste. Then the tv channels would have to encorperate 3D into their shows and then the people would have to go out and buy 3D tvs. The idea of 3D video games is also a retarded idea because of the same reasons previously stated. Video games were meant to be played 2D pressin buttons

  • @LouShoeLacer

What do you mean? pressing buttons?

    :)

    ---

    :P

  • @Joxman2k people who play the wii violently flail thier arms around just to play a video game when video games are just meant to be played by pressing buttons

  • @ifishfortarpon

I'm so geeky I that I thought I was the only one.

    ---

    :P

  • I swear when I go to the movies, half of the trailers say that the movies are in 3D. 3D movies make my head hurt.

  • I don't see people being stupid enough to get into 3d. I don't want to have to wear glasses when i watch TV and i'd say the masses have the same view. 3d will be as successful as the virtua boy

  • No, 3D Design is becoming more and more popular, therefor being able to see it in 3D will also become more popular. I think it be kind of like a zune though, always there but you only know what person that uses it.

  • absolutely

  • Where is my 3D porn with tactile feedback? :P

  • yeah, fad.

  • yes it's a fad

until they come out with actual physical 3d rendering :D

  • @Leadman1989 UNPOSSIBLE

  • @vPJere

you think you could explain half the technology we have today to people living 100 or 200 years ago

projection, and or a magnetic superfluid could do the job of making a device that could represent reality in actual 3d

  • @Leadman1989 You mean ferrofluid and that still couldn't represent colour. Yet. >.>

  • @boredman443

ahh your absolutely right, and NOT YET but if there was money to be made i can guarantee you people would get it to represent color

  • avatar SUCKED. 3D is a friggen fad.

  • @ifishfortarpon

    word up man

  • yah your videos are ass homie... work on that, why cant u use a camera... to lazy to edit? wats up son...

  • @rahmy84 actually, chris actually did that, the viewers voted to use the old format.

  • I really hope 3D is a fad. Cos I like movies and games that focus on good acting and a good plot. Then effects. Not a movie that uses the same lame 3D effects and has a shitty plot and acting. (AVATAR)

  • True 3D will be holographic!

  • I swear if I hear the words "go.tagjag.com" I am un-subscribing.. he used to actually make good videos. Now all he does is promote crap for anyone that gives him a few bucks.

  • It most certainly is, until you can watchy it without the glasses.

  • Yes. I think 3DTV is a massive fad. If they created a 3DTV without those really uncomfortable glasses then yes. It won't be a fad. It will be a thing to get.

  • 3D with glasses, no.... 3D without glasses? YES! The tech is there, but all these companies won't upgrade without glasses. Seems to me they want to make money by slowly bringing it to the market. I think we're ready for it as long as there are no glasses.

  • I like when you will! Get tv 3d tv without glasses the non glasses screen it 3 inch ATM hens why the nintendo 3ds wont need glasses

  • There was a 3d porn film out years and years ago

  • 3d suck's ball's ..who want's to sit there with a pair of glasses on, making you look like a retard??? in the cinema 1ns in a while is ok ..but you can suck my left 1 if you think im gonna be sitting at home watching tv wearing a pair while im watching football ..fuck that

  • I believe 3D -- As it is -- is a fad. It's a fad, it's been a fad before, and as long as we have to wear big ass glasses and get special technology that cost waaay too much for such a restricted market, it will always be a fad.

    .

Until we have some nice 3D holographics out there, it's not going to be much more than a gimmick.

  • do another 24 hour show chris like back in the day on tech tv. remember when you cracked up laughing with morgan and cat :P

  • people forget 3D has already tried and failed

  • @matteuklol do you remember the beautiful creation that was the virtual boy?

  • @coreydm676 my eyes remember the virtual boy...

  • @Pims1eur do you have glasses per chance? xD

  • @matteuklol People aren't forgetting that fact. but now the technology is starting to catch up to the idea

  • @matteuklol In what way? True 3D was never implemented into anything in the consumer market except maybe virtual boy which should not be considered a 3D experience (nor does blue red glasses for old Nintendo games). The ability to have 3D in your home has only been made possible within the last 5 years with micro technologies that weren't available in the 80s or 90s. True 3D has never been on the market for the consumer until now (I.E. something that he-she can put in his-her home).

  • @flatblackstrat Sorry mate your wrong. True shutterglass 3d has been available in the home market since 1985. Japan had a technology called VHD. It was a cross between laser disc and vinyl. Around 30 titles were released in true stereoscopic 3d, including Jaws 3D, Friday the 13th 3d, House of Wax, Dial M For Murder, Metalstorm, Space Hunter, Creature From The Black Lagoon and so on. Trust me, i have them all.

Google vhd 3d and click on the first link "3D Compatible video"

  • @matteuklol and you seemingly forgot the way 3D has done has change many times. Of course 3D doesn't add anything to story, and thats the main reason it will always just be a fad. Of course stereo sound was most likely viewed the same way.

  • i think 3D is great for scientific things like google earth or anything like that to help understand. but movies will stay on the 2D screen. we worry about people playing WoW and killing their children, 3D would make that worse. and yes, im sure porn will become 3D pushers

  • @kyle892

We already have 3D porn. Google 3D Eros.

  • you can get 3D for a mere £150 upgrade to your PC...oh wait you cant upgrade macs :P

  • @predeturd Mac Pro?

  • @predeturd Mac Pro?

  • Why are people spamming.... I'm gunna mark them all as spam.

  • Why does he get so many foreigners calling him?

  • Why does he get so many foreigners calling him?

  • @MouthofSaurons o rly? bob is cooler

  • I had a recent attack of optic neuritis in one of my eyes. I got most of my vision back, but can no longer see 3D effects due to the one eye being slightly blurry. The very best 3d I ever experienced in my life was at Universal Studios Florida in the Hitchcock building where they showed part of "The Birds" in 3D. The birds swooped down at the audience and one even landed on the head of the person in front of you pecking at their skull.

  • lol at the Adult comment " Look at my penis...IN 3-DEEEEEEEEEEE"

  • yay! 3d porn!

  • what commenters have to understand that haven't seen 3D TV's in action, it's so much better than at the movies. and chris, as you said earlier, D is only a feature, if you turn it off (on the Samsung anyway) you get a HD LED back-lit 40/46" display,. Getting the Samsung 46"er on Saturday, looking forward to watching my Blu Rays in 3D

  • your videos are sucking chris, fix it. this question shit is boring. YOU SUCK CHRIS

  • <--- Adult Entertainment : ahahahah.. we are.... xD

  • Coming from a 25 year old with One good eye....3D Movies and Televisions are a complete waste for me. If I wear the glasses, I get AT BEST a flat image with a slight reduction in quality.

I believe the real answer to 3D Television is a long way away, as 3D Is going to require more than a simple Screen and Glasses. New display technologies will require new display mediums, not old televisons. But, sure, this this is the best we can do now. For me, Its a fad :)

  • @Triptweeze LOL, 3D is ace, maybe you think its shit coz only 1 of your eyes works you dickhead.

  • @wrathallll Beautifully written. You make me proud to be a member of YouTube.

  • @wrathallll Beautifully written

  • @wrathallll Beautifully written

  • i think 3d is very unnecesary

  • HD hasnt even kicked off yet why do you want 3D? its just to sell more TVs tv companies need to keep selling..3D is gona hurt your eyes, brains its not like Cinema where you're facing a giant TV, 3D on 50" will look dull

  • @reply4reply i have just received my Panasonic 50" Plasma 3D TV along with sky HD which has a 3D channel, It hurt my eyes at first but after a while you begin to get used to it. It came with 2 Panasonic 3D glasses which require a battery. It is a great TV with a great HD/3D package. You say that 3D will look dull on a 50" but the picture is pretty good.

  • I hate 3d.

  • 3D PRON!!!

  • Comment removed

  • OH Yeah I remember when he recorded this one! My comment on the live feed is at 2:27

  • Roger Ebert thinks 3D is gonna ruin the movie industry. I agree.

  • 3d is well out of its time we've had 3d for well ages now and to be honest i cant stand it it gives me a headache and hurts my eyes if it last longer then maybe 2 years it will be doing well.,..

    its just a huge FAD

  • 3d is well out of its time we've had 3d for well ages now and to be honest i cant stand it it gives me a headache and hurts my eyes if it last longer then maybe 2 years it will be doing well.,..

    its just a huge FAD

  • Porn in 3D ROCKS!!!!

  • @thetechguy471 - You don't HAVE to watch it in 3D. You can turn the 3D feature off.

  • What about autostereoscopic TVs that don't require glasses? That I would consider buying eventually, because I would never want to have to use the glasses. Could be big for gaming.

  • This guy from the UK is annoying and sounds like an idiot. Makes me sad about the people in my country.

  • A 3D television was solely made for bragging rights

  • My Samsung has 3D technology but I got it mainly for the kids...

  • Yes, 3D is a fad. Just like is was in 1952, 1960, and 1985.

  • whats the number to call this guy?

  • Tbh, anyone who buys a 3D TV at this point will only realise there money was wasted at a later date.

  • yes. 3D is a fad, watch!

  • 3D is stupid because the TV's are like $6000 for like a 40"

  • Going to the cinema to watch a movie in 3D is cool but to watch tv or play games every day in 3D thats just unhealthy

  • it's weird how the "technology" for 3d has apparently jumped forward a massive distance and yet the best 3d movie i have ever seen is spy kids 3D? (yes i have seen avatar)

  • what is his screen saver called?

  • @xzero213 He covered it in another video but my memory is as good as a goldfish so its anybody's guess!

  • You want to talk about a fad how about the iPad!

  • YES!!!! Go to the theater if you want to see 3D....projection 3D is completely different from plasma and lcd-led 3d technology. I will admit that the Panasonic plasma's look PHENOMENAL in 3D but it's overkill and my Pioneer Elite still looks better than any TV I have seen to date...

  • 3D is an overkill

  • I think we'll see 3D "stereoscopic vision" for a long time now. It really is over due but I think we'll be seeing it more and more now as it gets simpler to use
