This was Asafa Powell's first race after coming off an injury. Not only did he slow down at the end, he managed to run 9.95. He's a phenomenal athlete. Not to play down Yohan Blake's talent, but I believe he has a ways to go before he can hope to beat the likes of Bolt, Powell and Gay.
Asafa Powell is a joke! He had, as usual, a fantastic start and well ahead of Blake. This man just don't have no confidence in himself under tight competition!
@Johnandvanessa Asafa always slows down at the end check his other races. I hate that about his races Asafa only runs 95% of the race and cuts power for the last 5%.
@Jamaicangmr1 i am beginning to think asafa cant run all the way to the line. i think he's a 90 meter runner, he just runs out of steam. i used to think he didnt like to push himself until a major event but now i think he just cant keep up the pace. have you ever seen him run 200 meters? he's always ahead when coming of the bends but then finishes the race dead last...lol.
@janderapoopeeza he probably slowed down then too. i have be watching powell run for nearly 10 years and it dont matter whether he's warming up or running in an olympic final, he always slows down at the end, ALWAYS!
@slimithy12 He was injured, but watch his 9.78 run, he doesn't dip his head but he doesn't cut power, watch his 9.72 PB, and this /watch?v=1nmGbHlWjvU&feature=related
@MrSERVANT777 always a real pressure to read intelligent comments from .... smart people like you SERVANTITO.. I THINK EXACTLY THE SAME... ASAFA HAS A POWER... am waiting for THIS to explode... cause this gotta explote.. sooner or later.. it will... and I'll be ---THEN AND ONLY THEN--- damn happy like a worm in a mud puddle!
SERIOUSLY BOLT WONT KNOW WAT HIT HIM IN 2012 OLYMPICS BLAKE CAN EASILY BEAT 19:19 IN 200M ANDMAYBE EVEN GET UNDER 19 SECONDS NEXT YEAR OR NEXT 2YEARS. I DONT THINK HE IS TAKING DRUGS I JUST THINK HE JUST FAST.
@ShinTec9 Bolt is still a young runner who still has room to improve as well... at this stage of his career Yohan Blake is ahead in terms of development, however I can still see Usain himself going under 19.19 especially if he has a challenge coming off the bend. Usain has usually won the race by the top of the bend in the 200 so it should be a phenomenal race. Either way I see Jamaica will see Gold & Silver in both the 100m & 200m baring injury or DQ (God willing, none of that happens)
Asafa always has the best start!!!
