I wonder for video taping (viz effects), if you could just stick a couple 5-10w led's in there to blow out the camera a bit. Give it that overexposed flare that you get from pointing a flashlight at a camera. Throw in a dimer and you might get good results in daylight. No roto scoping needed.
@cowboys808 Did you even listen? or read the description?
Do some research. That's real as you'd see in person. No rotoscoping. It's a high powered LED that we capture the light with inside a PolyCarbonate tube.
Your opinion... I tend to agree. I was built for someone else though. I've since built other Obi TPM's with sound. This very saber is back for a sound upgrade.
Also, Ultrasabers mostly don't have sound. Thank MR for the sound, not Ultrasabers. Half the time their ripping you off compared to what it costs them and what they charge.
Crystal Focus is a soundboard. This saber doesn't have that. The blade in this is an "Erv" style blade. That's PolyC outside, then the diffusers inside are "corbin film" and PolyPropeylene film.
Compared to EL. Making your own EL blades has always been much cheaper compared to say buying from Parks.
EL is definitely more expensive to make than Luxeon blades though. The downside is the blade doesn't carry the color. The LED in the hilt does, so you give up the ease of swapping colors.
check out thecustomsabershop. Google it. It has a forum that has loads of information on building sabers. I used to be the moderator there and I still post a lot there.
Umm i was wondering a few things. Im not wery good at theese things. I have been watching u,re videos and i was wondering. Totally depends on what the design is if I can do it. Just click on my name here and that will take you to my channel. On the comments there I posted my site and e-mail.
Send me an e-mail and I'll give it a look. If it's not something I can do I'll point you to who can.
i want to convert my mace windu master repicas fx lightsaber into a luxeon version with dueling blade but having a hard time getting the list together. any suggestions, i don't have the saber now but planning to get it asap, that and anakin's. and how bright is the silver LED? really want to be different
If you want Ultrasabers has a kit to convert the saber though they seem to be out of stock. They use a III which to me is a downside.
Otherwise I would buy a 1.125 OD aluminum tube, a custom heatsink from TCSS and a Seoul P4 from there also. Basically the tube will be your blade holder. Sand that sucker so it fits in the plastic guts and that'll do fine.
can you tell me how to make a luxeon lightsaber please. i have a force fx anakin lightsaber and i mak hilts myself. ur saber is well cool so please tell me how 2 make 1.
ya i went there but i really dont know how to make them and im already thinkin about buyin a force fx or a parks saber but i hear parks sabers are funner and better so ill probbally get one of them go on there please and tell me if i should get the el graflex or a more expensive one if u have time thx
im looking for a luxeon LED. How much do they cost. I saw one for 5€. Its a 1W 110° batwing green luxeon led. Is it enough light coming out to light up a 1 meter long tube?? Or shall i buy one for 10 €??? WHAT DO YOU THINK??
1W Luxeons are rather weak. A III or better is pretty much the standard now... 10 Euro is a rip though. I get my Rebels for 6 Euro and even with international shipping it's still darn reasonable.
I cant find any REBELS here in sweden :( could i perhaps use a 3W LUXEON STAR? And what is the best Luxeon on the market that dont cost my shirt?
Im going to make a lightsaber umbrella and its the first time i use this kind off stuff, so ill ask about the tube. Is a pvc tube ok to use or chall i go for a more expensive tube whith something in? Price etc...
no i come from sweden, and i were dont realy looking for a Rebel. Could i use 3W LUXEON STAR(we have these in sweden so the transport cost will be low) or chall i use another led??
And my umbrella: Yes it is inspired by those "bladerunner"things. I am 14 (i have done other things (like fruit taxedermy, and flashlight improvements) and i wanted to do something extra=a lightsaber umbrella!!
So are the FX sabers crap compared to these? I just want the most durable blade that won't break in a duel, but I heard that FX sabers have a better chance of breaking...could you help me out on this? Thanks.
In crap, I ment the blade and its strength in battle, sry excuse my language. That helps thanks. I want to get a blade that I can actually fight with, and the blade won't break. Thanks for the info :)
It's nice but I don't ever get my Parksabers new. Couldn't get the movie ones new now anyway. Paid well below $300 for my Obi TPM and Obi ANH, and actually about $300 combined for both.
For now I usually just say the easiest thing is to get one second hand, usually cheaper too. It's in Parks' best interest to not openly make them so he doesn't get sued.

Great job, X to the Z... I'll be sure to tell you how things go with the new v2.61s I picked up and the vibration motors I'm hoping to add to them... I have to pray I'll have enough room in those things since they are only 10" to 11" hilts or so...
Amazing saber x-wing, i'm still skeptical to get a P4 or a Rebel luxeon as apposed to the regular luxeon lines (III, K2, V) should I be? what are your comparisons?

Parks sabers now have sound yeah.

Almost looks like it was a digital special effect.
I have ALWAYS imagined that a lightsaber in the fictional films vibrated a bit (sort of like a pager or cell phone).
RodCornholio 3 years ago
How many wraps of corbin film, and how many feet of clear film is in the blade? Is that a thin or thick walled blade?
DAVAAN2 3 years ago
thin walled. quad wrap and maybe 24-28" of PolyP.
xwingband 3 years ago
if you ever make any of these to sell id definitely be interested. Awesome Job.
YomasterJon 3 years ago
I do them on a case by case basis. I don't get the hilts though, that's up to you.
xwingband 3 years ago
Are the blades usually that long or did you custom order it?
TheDemonWolff 3 years ago
I make my own blades. It's a 36" blade. That's not terribly long. MR's are 33".

idiotendanne 4 years ago
Yes, you can buy all the hilt and blade parts to light it up from there.

But i mean if i buy a complete saber.
idiotendanne 4 years ago
that's brilliant!
mrozik162 4 years ago
are these the same things there selling in the bookstores?
dawayne222 4 years ago
No, the hilts were custom made and are no longer sold as the maker got sued. Finding them now is hard and commands a pretty penny.
The electronics on this one I did myself. The store ones (made by master replicas) are fragile and the hilts are not as accurate.
xwingband 4 years ago
where can i get the blade, not the hilt? and can you duel with this?
ikoas 4 years ago
I made the blade. I did all the electronics to light the blade.
You can duel a bit with it. The blade is thin walled so it flexes more, but the design is duelable if it wasn't for the thinner blade.

jaksj632 4 years ago
There are plenty of instructions and information if you bother to take it all in.
Parks: they're great hilts and duelable, but EL (lighting system) is dim and they don't have sound
MR sabers: They have sound and a few effects but are fragile. Some hilts are great and some are HUGE.
xwingband 4 years ago

FrenchVanilla32 4 years ago
Define crap?
Hilts like Parks are much better sized and sturdy. Luxeon don't break like the FX either...
It's all for a price though. FX's are $120 at the most. Luxeons can be many hundreds depending on the electronics or the hilt.
xwingband 4 years ago

One made of a PVC hilt and a Lux I. Not the brightest or durable, but can be had for $60 and lower.
Or strictly speaking you could get a Hasbro toy for $20, lol. Look at my other vids. One is a PVC hilt.

DIY, me, or Ultrasabers.

germanicelt 4 years ago
Parksabers made it many years ago. It was originally an EL hilt.
A Luxeon Rebel is just the newest type of LED that LumiLEDs has put out. It's small and efficient.
xwingband 4 years ago
does lexion comes with the lightsaber or you have to make it???

Amazing saber x-wing, i'm still skeptical to get a P4 or a Rebel luxeon as apposed to the regular luxeon lines (III, K2, V) should I be? what are your comparisons?
ShadeValryn 4 years ago
For white... get a P4. For Green get the Rebels. In my tests even the low binned ones kicked the K2's butt.
For Blues the K2 is still great, but only if you can supply the amperage. The Rebel is a great compromise for brightness and runtimes.
For Red as usual stick to the III.
I don't like V's. They aren't worth the trouble to me.
xwingband 4 years ago
