Try to find it here, you'll wet your pants!Plus she's a skinny bitch with long dark hair! As for Goth, come on, THIS is as Goth as it gets. Dimanda is the granny of Goth! And I imagine she actually has a great sense of humor frmo the interviews I've seen over the years so being compared to Cher might crack her up!

huh, i saw that you have saint of the pit on your profile so i guess you ARE familiar with her early work.. it's just hard for me to swallow the word gothic, having been around many self professed goths and finding them only slightly more tolerable than drunk skinheads. so SO viciously pretentious and usually not clever enough to pull it off.

I agree. If we're viewing her as a performance artist, her early work is political - pure rage. Commercially (what exists of a *commercial* DG) looks about as dark as it gets. Perusing incidental comments, it's amazing how defensive "fans" can behave.

As I've read here, "Goth" has many facets.

You just can't ignore that she dresses like Vampira and sings about Death, no matter how lofty an opinion one has of her work.. I still insist, DG has got to have an incredible sense of humor! She's too passionate and intelligent to lack one.

i have to disagree with her being the grandmammy of goth.. are you familiar with her early work "1979 to her brother and his effect on her art"? i just find most goth "rozz and sopor aside" to be tacky and unintentionally humorous.

hmm the first time i saw it i was maybe 10 years in the opera house here in Stockholm the building is maybe 400 years old...

They have a nightclub in the same building Cafe´Opera and yes ive meet a ghost there it was so cool time and place was just gone i was speking with a lady from what time i dont know hmm

Having been to a few operas I'm familiar with the concept of stage makeup. To the point, though. Granted, I'm just now discovering her music and vids, but I would say her penchant for dark, flowing costumes, overly dramatic stage makeup, lyrical obsession with death/suffering, self-indulgent vocalizations, melodramatic interpretive dance moves and stage presence make her a goth. Fair enough? She is the embodiment of the unintentionally comical serious "artiste." But that is just my opinion.

Some of us like to be close to darkness - not because our teen angst lingers, but because life, in itself, is dark. Why put forth negative context, simply because people enjoy themselves within a lifestyle different than your own? If they("trekkies" or "goths," as you say) are genuinely happy, it is then you who is sad for casting judgment. Humans are individuals, and there is no definite way to be, as you impose. Perhaps you have some growing up of your own to do?
