okay, so, i've done these techniques that use fire and voodoo magic and cottonballs, and involve caking on the polish... and i've spent 2 hours trying to give a shine to a boot. well, the the boot scuffed after a trip to the store, polish rubbed off on my pants, and hands when i took the boots off. then i scrubbed ALL of that polish off, and just used a tiny amount, and got a better shine, glossy as a mirror, and it only took me about 15 minutes.
@eriklares90 Sorry it didn't work out for you. But if you scuff your boots then there are going to be marks and polish will come of no matter how many layers you applied. Eventually your boots will scuff and become dull. So if you are in the military or a like organization you should be providing "maintenance" to all your leather a few times a week, as they teach you. Good luck to you.
Great video by far the best I've seen! I just have a quick question for, for my new low quarters should I take off the factory polish before doing this process or is it fine to use this process without taking the factory shine?
I hear from people that when they fire shine after a while the polish starts pealing off is that true? And I don't really want to use a lighter because I have a lot leather that is close to Nylon and I don't want to light the nylon on fire. So instead of using a lighter. Can I apply the polish with no water on the cotton ball then when I rubbed it in really well I add hot water to the cotton ball until it gets shinny? And repeat for the next 5 layers or so..Will I get the same shine?
@counkev The boots you listed below appear to be the same or similar material like in the video, so they should shine well. As far as Parade Gloss is concerned, it brings a shine out of your leather quicker and is less tiresome on your hands. I believe you could use regular polish but it would take some serious polishing to get that mirror shine. It has been my preference to use parade gloss. So, unless you a against parade gloss for some reason I would use it.
My fifth question ( I ran out of room below). Do you really need to buy Parade Gloss? Can't you just melt that final layer of Regular Black Gloss ? And my last question is will these boots hold the shine like in your video ?
Hi, I have a few questions and it would be a great help if you would answer them. First question can I just buy only Parade Gloss and not buy the Regular black polish. Second question some people say not to shine the crease of the shoe where it bends because the polish will crack is that true because you polished the entire toe. Third question is this the same method you would use if you newly bought your shoe. Fourth question next time you shine your shoe do you wait til the old polish is gone?

@piplupftw16 I don't get streaks. It has been my experience that If you polish for a long time, like I do in this video, the streaks tend to go away. Also you might want to use the buffing cloth if you have a few streaks.
@pinapplelover1 It takes about 1 hour to shine 1 shoe. In order to save time I polish the next boot while the first one dries. I do this for each layer.
@InsertGun I've used both cotton balls and cotton shirts before. I find the cotton balls work best for me. However, I imagine a cotton t-shirt will work fine as well.
Great vid I think neutral leather polish works well too after parade gloss and only took 3 coats for me I have some vintage carolina steel toes that I use
@TheMookarr I suppose you can use a cotton cloth. I wouldn't use anything but cotton fabric if you do. Matches burn down quickly, just dont burn yourself lol.
man you done well I will try this my self

@722atk That's a good question. I have never tried that. If you decide to do it let me know how it works.

@counkev don't use a lighter, use hot water. The fire will ruin you boot if you burn it.

It might affect the boot if you are buffing very hard that is what happens to mine. But buff lightly and you should be fine
