ha ha i love this i actually witnessed my chins having sex last night didnt get camera out in time but managed to record the after sex hiccups they are funny and found a white plug so 110 days to go we worked it out ahe'll be due on 5th january.

however my chincilla wakes me up in the night with those hicupps, do they do that when they have sex or is it just like a warnign call?

well if u want to breed chins

u have to look up alot of stuff

their a pretty hard animal to breed

Yeah, i know that they don't cooperate very well with each other and i have found out that if you even want two in a cage you might neew a two-story one, with a block so they can only smell the other chincilla downstairs or upstairs. then you put vanilla on their noses and let then smell each other, or something very long and complicated indeed.

It's not THAT hard to make chins get along. We did not follow all the steps to introduce them in a proper way as commonly said by chin experts on the Internet. Fay and Geek had been used to each other's smell for a long time before we put them together in the same cage. They were in separate cages next to almost half a year.

One night Geek was doing his dance in his own cage close to Fay's and Fay came close to him and checked him out. We saw that and so we put Geek in Fay's cage and they mated - that's when we took this video.

You say "finally" are a couple .. how long did it take? I've had my male and female in together after a year and still no kits .. are they just hopeless??

They did not get along well at all before. But one night they were acting weird so we put them in the same cage and this was what happened. Fay was pregnant and today, just 10 hours ago, she delivered her first baby!!

I'm not a chin expert, so I don't know if it's unusual to have mating couples without kits... you may want to ask an expert for opinion.
