Who cares if Mine That Bird ever wins another race... that is the best Derby I have ever seen.... okay, I never saw Secretariat's Derby, BUT.... Birdie is one heck of a horse!

Thanks for posting this. This was one race where the network's lower cameras just didn't show what happened. Before I saw this, I was starting to think that Borel was a magician. Turns out he's just a gutsy, world-class jockey who caught a hell of a ride.

FLUKE! Anyone else out there feel cheated or disgusted? Borel says he made up something like 15-20 lengths, but it was more like 20-30, and down the stretch the other horses are crawling as he blows past them. I'm sorry, but he seems to bump the horse in the pink silks on the first rail move, and if you see nbc's replay slowed..as he comes up on JITD, the jock looks over, and pulls his horse to the right (almost into the guy next to him). I hope he goes off at 6-1 in the PRK and gets killed

Apparently they plan to train MTB for the preakness at Churchill and move him over to Pimlico only a few days or so before the Preakness. Anyone else see this as a bad idea? They say it's because he likes the track at Churchill, which is fine, but he needs to get used to the Pimlico track. It'll be unfortunate if they take him to Pimlico and he runs worse simply because he's not used to it/it's not Churchill. Thoughts?

sirws88, thats not a blowout, yes he won by alot, but he didnt lead over half the race, no blowout. i was in the infield, and for the first time EVER in my numerous derby trips, you hear NO ONE screaming that their horse won, it was dead silent except from the ppl saying WTF JUST HAPPEND lol, it was fun, wish it would of kept raining =)

Sounds like you had too many mint juleps there, Derby Boy. "Blowout " MEANS "won by a lot" Leading for more than half the race and having lots of people bet on you have nothin' to do with it.
