@McSpizzy Even if you did go there you would never get them even if you did buy them, the French authorities are a pain in the rear end when it comes to taking military vehicles from there country, especially ones in this state. I have heard of horror stories...
@hetsar Why does France even want to keep these rusting pieces of jagged metal in their country? I mean, these are U.S. vehicles, so nobody in their country technically owns them (except for the EBR).
@McSpizzy I have no idea, they just believe they should keep them, heard just stories of people buying tanks spending years fighting with the authorities to export them, its such a shame as they deserve to be restored, something not as popular in France.
The EBR is a post war French design from the 1950's. Also the post war French army used M2's and M8's so this must have been a training area at one time.
great vid ,sad to see these just sitting there rotting what a waist.the half track is of interest to me as its always been a dream of mine to own one ...
I went to beville this summer to try and get a look at these but it's a big place and the dunes are HUGE. There also seems to me a military range there? Can you give me more details on how to find them. I went down the D123 road ..anywhere near?
The tracks were made from rubber, and had 2 steel cables imbeded in them, they were extremely durable. The engine was a large straight 6 with a nickel steel crankcase. The Israelis up graded them to a Ford V-8, and used them to around 1980.
My great grandfather worked for Diamond T REO and built Whites during WW2. He was one of the line managers and was among the first 8 men to start the company in the early 1900s. At the end of the war in the U.S. there were about 7000 Whites, brand new , still sitting on lots. It was a very durable vehicle, and some were run into the late 50s. One use was to paint them yellow, where they were used to tow aircraft that had left the runway or taxiway, and were mired down in soft ground.
the m2 are they made by a company called white ,as a few years ago on a mountain above pontypridd in south wales there was a halftrack like the ones in kellys heros ,at an old farm that was called ronny walls dont know if its still there ,there was a plate on it made by white moors
Oh my god, I want to go to Europe to bring these babies home to Atlanta...
