hey boxinginfo, i think its time to make a new video. I'm really hanging to hear what you think about the upcoming fights. 3months since your last video is too long!.
U were wrong about Cotto...wraps don't tear like that...anyways Cotto got his revenge and it was sweet...how can u respect Margarito...I just lost respect for u...
@j84e Sorry, Cotto is just a SORE LOSER. Some people in Puerto Rico have been trying since the day he lost to Maro to FIRST say Margarito was on steroids. Now we are supposed to believe that the Nevada State Commission let Margarito enter the ring with blocks of cement on his hands? WRONG Then Cotto gets killed by Pacquiao and again the excuses, Pacquiao is on steroids. Cotto has been given a cake walk and still had his face messed up by a shot Margarito. Revenge? More like Pity.
@boxinginfo i said to my fellow puertoricans , the hand wraps are shit .the only 2 problems for cotto in the margo 1st fight was stamina . i don't care what people said about margo . the guy hits hard . so, if you stay on the ropes ala cotto , you get hurt.but islander you jump on the bandwagon of margo when he beat cotto. that's ok. but you have to give cotto credit . he never refuse to fight anybody.don't get me wrong i'm with you .on the hand wraps drama of hbo and the puertoricans .
@boxinginfo anyway i think cotto is 50-50 vs any of the elite at 154.f i was canelo's manager i will put him vs cotto , this is the perfect moment for him.just my opinion.
@boxinginfo, in that case, most great fighters are 'sore losers.' I seem to remember your boy Manny saying that wearing the wrong socks, amongst other things, cost him the first fight with Morales. Cotto handled the Margarito issue well, for my money. How can you blame him for the actions of millions of partizan Puerto Ricans? I agree we'll never know for sure whether Marg was guilty, but is it just a coincedence that he suddenly became useless after being rumbled prior to the Mosley fight?
@RihannasBikeSeat 1st off - Great name, LOL. Second to answer your last question, I have gone on record many times saying that both Margarito and Cotto would never be the same after their first fight and they are shells of who they used to be b/c they beat it out of each other. The difference is Margo has been thrown to the lions and Cotto w/ the exception of Pac and maybe Clottey has had easy touch after easy touch. Margo can only be useful so long fighting the way he does.
@boxinginfo, I don't really begrudge Cotto taking on a few patsies such as Jennings, Foreman and Mayorga given the very high level of opposition he's faced over his career - even then, I'd say that his opposition since 2008 has been better than many other so-called 'world champions.' To me, Cotto has been one of the few 'good guys' left in boxing over the past few years; I, for one, was very happy when he reversed the Margarito result, but that's just me, I suppose.
@boxinginfo What do you think of Mayweathers BS fighting Miguel Cotto lol, also Floyd calling Pac over twitter to fool the public into thinking he really wanted Pacman, He never once traveled 1 mile in las vegas from his house to top ranks offfice to discuss the fight with Arum, Koncz gave the real deal, he went back and forth to floyd and manny and Floyd he said was very friendly, but his demands were unreal, he refused 5050 and ppv split with Manny, Floyd wanted everything his way
Keep in mind Marquez has had experience with Pac. Has Floyd fought someone like PAC or near Pacs style? Marquez will always be somewhat successful against PAC. Floyd has never faced a fighter like PAC not saying PAC beats Floyd just saying Floyd might have trouble with Pacs aggression ex. Hat tons aggression the first few rds til Floyd adjusted while Hatton didn't
@boxinginfo. Not only the feet. But the question of stimulants given to JMM where WBO said only water is allowed. WBO and NSAC got flaws on their laws and bi-laws..
@SnukkaFly His face was bruised up, I didnt see much swelling though. If you say those punches werent damaging, hes not as big of a puncher as Cotto, who messed up his eardrum. His punches were definately effective though cause you can clearly see he had Pacquiao's respect, also Pacquiao threw probably less than half the punches in this fight than he did aginst any of those three guys you mentioned. Manny's body language after the fight looked like he lost.
@boxinginfo I see that you mentioned the foot stepping in one of your comments. Do you think this was excessive or just something that is bound to happen between an orthodox and south paw fighter?
@cosmiblue1027 Yes its bound to happen between orthodox and southpaws. This looked flagrant to me and it was a good tactic on Marquez' part because it totally negated Pacquiao's ability to move in and out. Totally legal but questionable IMO. The legendary Willie Pep did this in the 2nd of his 4 fights with the great Sandy Saddler in the only fight Pep won vs. Saddler and he DID this deliberately b/c Pep knew Saddler had corns on his feet and it hurt like hell, good tactic if you get away with it
@boxinginfo Great comment man. I bet the Flomos would go wild if Manny started stomping all on Floyds foot and won the fight. No doubt they will all say it was flagrant cheating.
Fighters do step on each others feet, but it can also be a dirty tactic no doubt. Just like Bradley has perfected the accidental head butt. Ortiz needs to work on his head butting skills if he expects to get away with it.
Floyd is too skilled to lose a fight simply because a guy stepped on his foot You Pactards will hold on to anything and make excuses for whatever Manny does.
I will respectfully disagree i had it 116-112 Marquez. I think Compubox was way off also. I'm just saying if Pacquiao really connected more punches than Marquez did you would think that Pacquiao wouldve wobbled Marquez atlest one time like Juan Diaz did
@162773 There is NO WAY in HELL either guy won 8 rounds in this fight. To answer your question, how was Pacquiao going to wobble Marquez when he was stepping on Pacquiao's right foot all night long? And as far a compubox is concerned, whose face looked worse after 1 round of boxing? After 12 rounds? It was Marquez b/c he was getting hit. Pacquiao had a cut from a head butt not that this tells the story of the whole fight but the damage was apparent.
@boxinginfo Bro, Floyd DOES duck & slip punches..He just mostly likes to show his durability by blocking them & absorbing them....Even with Ortiz, he rolled under his left hand in the first rnd, then he stopped doing it cuz he didnt have to, & he likes to pull counter & slip ur punch...& btw Pac knocked down a washed up Mosley, Floyd got hit by the SAME Mosley who destroyed Margarito..I agree that styles make fights but pac just got beat up by a WASHED up jmm & he is a PUNCHER So I expected a KO
@tenfoldsoffspring Bro- WHEN DID I SAY FLOYD COULDN'T SLIP PUNCHES? BTW Pac knocked down the same washed up Mosley that almost knocked down Mayweather he was the same inconsistent guy who just came off an almost 17 month layoff between Margarito and Mayweather, spin this any way you please but the facts are the facts Mosley was looking washed up against Cotto and Mayorga years before Mayweather. KO Marquez like Mayweather did? Did you see Marquez' face after the fight it tells the story?
@boxinginfo U know that a fighter is judged by his LATEST Performance...Floyd & Mosley were BOTH coming off layoffs, and Floyd fought a good Mosley..& Pac is a PUNCHER...Mayweather was coming off a 2 yr layoff I never expected him to KO Marques. but Pac was supposed to KO WASHED UP Marques..& Pac hits so hard, so he left Marques face bruised, but he couldnt even knock him down and he is supposed to have devestating Power..Pac truely is a media creation..Marques face told NO story LOL
@tenfoldsoffspring The operative word is latest which would mean the Pacquaio stock has fallen correct me if I'm mistaken. FLOYD FOUGHT A SHOT MOSLEY who had 1 good fight out of his last 3. FMJ was innactive for almost 8 months Mosley for almost 17 and Mosley is 6 years older and 1 1/2 years older than he was since his last good win (Margarito).
Media creations don't walk through Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, DeLaHoya, and Hatton. Media creations just don't fight 3/5 of the list I just gave you.
@boxinginfo I give Pac credit for Cotto, But roach admitted they ONLY would fight him cuz he was "damaged", Clottey was low class coming off a loss, Margarito was SUPER damaged and roach said he wouldnt fight him UNLESS he looked bad against Mosley, Oscar was DRAINED OUT OF HIS MIND..LMAO...didnt u kno that most legitimate boxing fans see Pac's record as dolled up?..and Floyd was coming off a TWO yr layoff before Marques,..Mosley was more active than Mayweather bro...Give credit..Pac is fake!
@tenfoldsoffspring While you take a breath in between sipping Mayweather juice. Stop making shit up, Roach said this and that. The only thing he said was Mosley was better than ODLH and would have to come in at 142 or something gay like that. You don't even have a real channel, all you are is a troll who is wasting everybody's time w/ your Pacquaio hating and Mayweather nut hugging. In other words we don't need you around here. Don't bother addressing why Pacquiao fought Cotto and FMJ wont
Great poem and analysis on the fight. I thought Marquez won 115-113 but many of the rounds could have gone either way. Nacho did his fighter a disservice by saying he had the fight won, in the tenth round. I felt if Marquez would have put his foot on the gas pedal in the last two rounds, he would have won easy. Do u think the ref should score fights, like they did back in the day? Before I forget RIP Joe Souza, one of boxing's best cutmen
I think MP has a great chance against FM. Yes, Mayweather can do everything that JMM do but two times better. But one major thing that Mayweather doesn't that JMM do is that he does take risk like how you mentioned on your video. I believe MP has trouble against fighter who counters punches with Combos. And thats exactly what JMM was doing all night. May on the hand counters with 1 or 2 punches only. Because of that, I think MP would have a great chance in doing what he do best. 123456 bang
After watching this fight, I know a lot of fight fan aren't going to give Pac any chance against May.. But I disagree because like you said, Style makes fight. And one thing you forgot to mention was that in the fight with JMM vs May, JMM was more the aggressor. because he was the aggressor, he fell right into MAY's fight. In my opinion, I think because of that, May looked marvelous against him. Not saying May's other assets didn't too but that was the key for him to looked good..
@SnukkaFly No. I don't think Pacquiao is a steroid user. Pacquiao's move up in weight is an approximate replica of Floyd's rise in weight. It's virtually identical comparing the weight and ages as they moved up.
Actually, I don't. I was 5'8" and 122lbs when I graduated high school. My parents started to kid me about my weight gain. I tried to burn it off and gain muscle. I had definition, but no muscle mass. A Google search resulted in me finding out about protein synthesis.
Thanks for the in depth analysis. It is nice to see somebody go through the fight round by round with specific examples in each round instead of making sweeping generalizations or making a decision on the fight based on highlight reels. After watching the fight live, I couldn't clearly determine who had won and wouldn't have been surprised with a win by either of them. However, I do not think it was a "robbery" as so many have claimed. It was not at all a one-sided fight.
This reminds me of Whitaker-De La Hoya; the popular money maker gets the nod. This has nothing to do with the notion that you have to wrestle the belt away from the champion; in the case of Whitaker, he was the champion and still lost his belt, because he wasn't a household name. Everyone at the bar I was watching JMM-Pac at thought that it was a robbery. What a disgrace for boxing this was.
@SnukkaFly I'm thirty-seven years old. I put on 12 lbs of muscle this summer and I did it without a nutritionist, but just information I gleaned off the internet. Are you trying to argue anecdotal evidence against scientific fact? Hell, the entire history of bodybuilding destroys your argument. The mean age of the winner of Mr. Olympia and Mr. Universe competitions aren't guys in their twenties, but their mid-thirties.
@SnukkaFly One other thing...if Bob chooses Marquez first. Manny will be pressured to knock-out Marquez. This would increase or carry the revenue and ppv buys for Mayweather vs Pacquiao. But I don't know if this is even possible because Marquez is so resilient. They have to really think about this...and judge what Pacquiao is really capable of.
@SnukkaFly You can gain 1lb of muscle mass a week easily with exercise with a strong emphasis on proper nutrition. The process for building muscles is called protein synthesis. You keep your protein levels higher than your body can break it down. You do know they have formulas for this stuff, right?
Good analysis, thanks but I think you miss THE KEY implication for Pac/FMJ in the aftermath of Pac/JMM3, which is the signficant psychological shift that has occurred. Pac/JMM3 exposed the boxing world's overestimation of Pacquiao. The emergence of doubt around Pacquiao's invincibility, now, and firming public opinion that FMJ would win (if they ever fight) clearly provides FMJ with a psychological edge...which, in my opinion, is very powerful at that level of the sport.
@fightfan0000 Actually I think I said in the video that after each one fights the collective community puts that guy Mayweather or Pacquiao a leg up on the other. This is the first time as I compared this to the college football BCS that one performed and actually lost ground tot he other.
@boxinginfo I see, fair enough. What's your view on who PAcquiao fights next? My gut feel is that they won't let Pacquiao fight Mayweather unless it follows a convincing Pacquiao victory. And given he could fall short if he fights Marquez for a fourth time I'm thinking he fights maybe Bradley?
@fightfan0000 No...it can't be Bradley it wouldn't make sense. It can only be Mayweather or Marquez now. Pacquiao was supposed to blitz marquez, but he couldn't do it, so now they have to decide whether to re-fight Marquez or fight Mayweather. Its a pain really. The best plan would be Pac vs May first, then Pac vs Marq, and then Pac vs May again (Marq vs May would also make sense). This would generate the most revenue for pacquiao its also pretty risky...I think.
Great breakdown of the Pacman JMM fight, completely agree with your summary. What I really enjoyed was your interpretation of a potential matchup against FMJ. I've always thought that Mayweather would present the most evasive of targets for Pacman (as he is so hard to hit), at that Pac always looks great against fighters that are happy to take a punch (Margarito, Hatton, Washed up ODLH) but never thought of it in terms of lateral and vertical head movement. Very interesting.
Only thing you forgot to mention about all of those previous Pac fights, is that all of those guys were "walk you down fighters" even De La Hoya dehydrated ass at that point in his career
@TheGreatJuicebox Lol, that was not my video. Pacquiao stepped on Marquez foot twice in just a rnd. Marquez stepped on Pacquiao's foot 17 times. Don't you think that is a little to much? I really think Marquez trained for this, because he knew where his weight was going, and knew when to throw his punches. It also disrupted pacquiao's tempo. They studied Pacquiao well, specially Pac vs Mosley, and Clottey. If you watch Mosley v Pac, you can see that Pacquiao panic when Mosley step on his feet.
@TheGreatJuicebox 23? Maybe 23 total through out his career, that is normal considering his a southpawn. But I'm not making any excuses, just saying the truth. In the third fight Marquez step on Pacquiaos feet 17 times (thats a lot), Pac only 2 times. It was very effective, it help Marquez set up his right, and stop Pacquiao's movement. It also prevented Pacquiao from moving in and out, thats why Pacquiao had to block all the time. I don't think that was fair.
@williamsees Is this the first conventional vs. southpaw fight you guys have ever walked? Stepping on your opponents foot is a staple of conventional vs southpaw fights. I'm starting to think that some of you guys just started to watch boxing yesterday.
@computercornerplusNC can you choose your word a little bit better? Its hard to understand, when you used words like "walked" and "staple," they're out of context. Anyway, no I didn't just start watching yesterday. Having said that, I never seen a "righty vs lefty" stepping on the other boxer so much (17x), specially in an important fight. It might be common in Mexico in the amateurs, but not in huge ppv buys.
I'm an educated watcher. Use to be a kickboxer and grampler, that is all.
@williamsees I made a post immediately after seeing my mistake indicating to anyone reading to replace walked with watched. You do know words have more than one definition in English right?
Staple (noun) 4. a main constituent; integral part
hey islander! did you hear about that foot stepping or what u call it? whats your take on it? i have a crazy theory. i remembered watching dela hoya pacq 24/7 or an interview on a late night show sometime ago explaining how to disrupt pacq's movement or speed by stepping on his foot. i cant erase the doubt on my mind because Natcho was the one training him that time.
Another good recap, well done. One thing I have to say though : I think you're way off on your analysis about the differences between Mayweather and Marquez. Mayweather doesn't slip and duck? Come on man, go rewatch the Ortiz fight. It was a festival of right hand leads and DIPS. Marquez used that same blueprint against Pacquiao last saturday. When Floyd fights southpaws he doesn't use his shoulder roll defense much, he just relies on his upper body movement and yes he does duck low.
@balistik94 Thanks you! But please listen to the video again. I never said Mayweather doesn't do those basic defensive things. I never said Marquez does anything better than Mayweather. I say they approach defense differently and Marquez takes risks that Mayweather never would.
@boxinginfo Mayweather does take more chances against southpaws because he has more trouble rolling punches from that angle. That's why he either comes forward or stands his ground against southpaws, as was apparent in the Corley, Judah and Ortiz fights. In the 3rd Pac fight, Marquez approached defense the same way Floyd does against southpaws, duck low when your opponent throws his straight left. You need to rewatch Floyd's fights against southpaws to realize how aggressive he is against them.
Jesus Christ....Should have known this guy would somehow find a way to act as if his boy Pacquiao didn't get his arse handed to him on saturday night. Seems we've reached a sad, sad stage where back-foot boxing is no longer acceptable and rounds should be given to someone purely for walking forward. It was an awful decision. Had it been Mayweather facing Marquez, I guarantee boxinginfo would be screaming 'robbery!' to anyone who'd listen. Loves Pacquiao, hates Mayweather.
@CodeHand1988 So I guess the guy coming forward who throws more punches and MORE IMPORTANTLY LANDS MORE should lose the fight? Is that your gov't education talking?
I'm sorry this was a repeat of Hagler Leonard only this time the guy coming forward and making the fight got the decision and the guy who was so supposed to be thrown to the lions exceeded everybody's expectations which is causing this controversy.
Is this too much for your brain to handle? BTW you're on a real short leash.
@boxinginfo, landed more? Maybe if, like compubox, you count punches which grazed Marquez's gloves. The cleaner work continually came from Marquez, who was much more accurate with what he threw, landed the more telling shots and made Pacquiao miss a hell of a lot more than the other way around. Just because he wasn't on the front foot doesn't mean Marquez wasn't aggressive - he initiated a lot of exchanges while holding his ground or BOXING in reverse. Made Pacquiao look clueless.
@CodeHand1988 "like compubox, you count punches which grazed Marquez's gloves" Yes landed more. Look at the damage on their faces. Pacquiao had a cut from an accidental head butt. Marquez' face was showing the effects early on and swelling later on.
Cleaner work was coming from Marquez I agree.
More accurate? 32% to 30% and again I reiterate Pacquiao threw more and landed more and was the boxer making the fight.
@boxinginfo, using their faces as a yardstick...really? Some people mark up easier than others, big deal. Hatton's face was in far worse a condition than Lazcano's after they fought, sure as hell doesn't mean Lazcano was anywhere near to deserving a decision. Marquez always had the outside foot and made Pacquiao miss more than anyone else has. Pacquiao looked clumsy to me. As I said, Marquez initiated a lot more exchanges than people think. Look at Pacquiao at the final bell - he knew he'd lost.
@CodeHand1988 Question who threw and landed more shots Hatton or Lazcano? Who won the decision?
"made Pacquiao miss more than anyone else" You do realize Pacquiao landed 3 out of every 10 shots he threw?
The final bell? Pacquiao looks like he just let himself and legions of fans down after just short of promising to get a stoppage he was no where close to getting.
@boxinginfo, as I said, I don't care much for 'compubox numbers' - just a system for people who lack the competence to score a fight on their own, using their own judgement. The better BOXING was coming from Marquez, simple as that. Come on, Pacquiao looked embarrassed when the decision was announced. It's funny, because I know that you and a load of others didn't want to give Mayweather any credit at all for dominating JMM north of 140 lb. Puts his quality in to perspective.
@CodeHand1988 Actually if Mayweather would have stuck to the agreed upon contracted weight with Marquez I would be a lot more accommodating to him for that fight. It was a brilliant style mach up for Mayweather not so for Pacquiao.
I have nothing but positive things to say about Mayweather for taking the Victor Ortiz fight it was a legitimate risk as seen by the damage he suffered albeit illegal. It was the conclusion I have issue with.
@boxinginfo, yes, he came in a couple of lb heavier than contracted - but a couple of lb doesn't matter or make any difference, isn't that what everyone says when Pacquiao, yet again, asks for a catchweight to pick up a title in another division? Fair enough if you're giving Mayweather due credit for fighting Ortiz though, I suppose. I just find the whole 'Manny is the good guy, Floyd is the bad guy' routine tiresome and, for the most part, wildy inaccurate, too.
@CodeHand1988 My problem stems from people's actions. Example Mayweather does what he does to Marquez, fine. Pacquiao fights DeLaHoya after FMJ passes on a rematch. Pac then fights Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, and Margarito in succession. The latter 3 Mayweather has always discredited and won't get in the ring with yet they all fight each other. Good vs. Bad? Not sure i can qualify that. Actions vs. Words I just showed you, actions speak louder.
@boxinginfo, yes, but you fail to mention that Mayweather also dominated Mosley who was coming off the back of a decent win - the same Mosley who, before then, team Pacquiao had said was "too good" for Pacquiao to fight at the full Welterweight limit. Cotto, I can understand your point, as Mayweather-Cotto was THE 147 lb fight people wanted in 2008 - but Clottey and Margarito? They're of no consequence to Mayweather at all. No different to Pacquiao not, thus far, fighting Ortiz / Berto, no more.
@CodeHand1988 I don't like to put much into either Mayweather or Pacquiao beating Mosley because they both white washed him and he had been seriously inconsistent over the past few years the Margarito fight was an aberration he looked horrendous before (vs.Mayorga) and after. People also forget that Mosley beat Margarito in 01/09 and didn't fight again until 05/10 so he was inconsistent and inactive to boot. Actually Cotto Marg and Clottey held more clout over Berto & Ortiz.
@boxinginfo, I accept that Mosley wasn't the same Sugar Shane he'd been back at the turn of the century (how two of the judges had him ahead before the KO against Mayorga I'll never know) but the fact remains that team Pac openly said they wanted no part of Mosley at the proper Welterweight limit before Mayweather beat him. If Marg and Clottey hold more clout than Ortiz and Berto then it's only be a wafer-thin margin; Clottey is plain ordinary, and Marg has usually lost to the best he's faced.
@CodeHand1988 I agree with you about Roach's games he'll only take fights he thinks he knows Pacquiao can win and its his fault this fight went the way it did for Pacquiao which was ugly.
I would make Margarito a favorite to stop both Ortiz and Berto if he still has left what he came into the ring against Pacquiao with. I'd favor Cotto to beat both of them as well there not that good trust me.
@boxinginfo, as I said, I accept your point about Cotto - he's a league above both Berto & Ortiz. My point is that Margarito, particularly with his busted headlamp, & Clottey only represent a small improvement on Berto & Ortiz, if any. Just don't think Mayweather should be particularly criticised for not fighting those two - the books will show they're not in his class. I think we saw on saturday night that Marquez, even above his best weight, represents a bigger 147 lb challenge than those two.
@CodeHand1988 Margarito was a long time WBO titleist that Mayweather passed on for Baldomir. Personally I think he would have beaten Margo with a little more trouble than he had w/Baldomir. Cotto we both agree on. My point is Margo fought Cotto, Clottey, Mosley, Pac. Cotto fought Margo, Clottey Mosley, and Pac. The only 2 who didn't fight are Clottey and Mosley and Clottey and Pac b/c Clottey is a wafer above Ortiz and Berto. But that is the best fighting the best. Where is Mayweather in there?
@CodeHand1988 Part II Let me ask you a question do you really believe the pre Mosley Margo would have been floored by FMJ? Do you think the scoring would have been worse than FMJ over JMM?My answer is no Mayweather isn't scoring knockdowns over any of those guys he'd still beat them comfortably imo.But in no way shape or form is JMM more of a 147 threat than Margarito used to be. All this was was a favorable style match up for JMM.
@boxinginfo, in fairness, Mayweather was retired between December 2007 and September 2009, when a lot of those match ups you mentioned happened. Now I know there is a temptation to say it was a fake retirement aimed at avoiding certain fights, but the truth is none of us know if Mayweather was serious (at the time) about never fighting again. I don't think Mayweather would deck Margo, no. But I could see him securing a shut out. Margo is a plain slugge with a chinr, little more.
@boxinginfo If you're going to use that line of reasoning, JMM should be the winner in their previous contests, as he both threw and landed more. Pacquiao might have landed more this time, but it wasn't effective punching. CompuBox counts punches landed on arms on the same level as landing to the body or head. Guess where a majority of his punches wound up? Hell, CompuBox is a poor qualifier for scoring a round anyway.
P.S. Leonard's punches thrown and landed were higher than Hagler's.
@computercornerplusNC I'm not sure how long you have been watching me but you stand correct I had Marquez winning both the first two fights. It's on record on YouTube.
As far as I know CompuBox only tabulates shots to the body and anywhere on the head, HBO added in recent years the mannequin video of where the breakdown of shots land. This is why I said there was a 10 punch discrepancy in that display from the normal CompuBox breakdown on the previous screen 176 to 166 I believe for Pacquiao.
I remember back when Hatton fought Pac and there was talk of Marquez as an opponent for Hatton and I remember thinking that Hatton would be to big and strong for Marquez and would dominate him. Based on what I saw on Saturday I would pick Marquez to KO a pre Mayweather Hatton. I think Marquez is better at 140 than most people realize and has been underestimated (including my self) as a good 140 fighter because of the weight class he came up from.
Come on now....even rounds are for pussies. Ledermann is retarded though. Marquez won the fight, i scored it even clearer the 2nd time around. Pacquaio and Roach have had 3 fights in almost 8 years with this guy and made 0 adjustments. Well i guess maybe he tried to "box" this time....lol. He couldnt beat Marquez when he was a brawler and he cant beat Marquez now hes a boxer. Marquez is just a superior fighter.
@DirkDigglerV3 Zero adjustments? Did we not see Pacquiao trying to play counter puncher the first 4 rounds and failing? Did you not see the futile use of the Pacquiao right hand that was non existent in the 2 previous fights?
IMO Pacquiao screwed this fight up for himself by trying this counter the counter puncher idiotic plan that Freddie Roach most likely came up with. Kudos for Marquez being in the right place at the right time.
I fully agree about the drawn rounds. I have always believed that a round has to be won and not awarded by default. I like your point about crowd expectation giving Marquez points he may not have deserved. Ultimately though, I think more 10-10 rounds should be awarded which would result in more draws. This should remove a lot of debatable decisions and force more rematches.
Pac team has rejected a fight with Mayweather jr NOW get this PAC TEAM WANTS A REMACTH with JMM. YES YOU READ IT RIGHT THE WINNER WANTS A REMACTH WITH JMM WAHAHA
WAT ABOUT BODY PUNCHES ON PACQUIAO? MARQUEZ KILLED MANNY ON BODY PUNCHES THROUGHOUT THE FIGHT. YOU DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING ON THAT. AND IN "MY OPINION" A BOXER DOES NOT WIN/STEAL A ROUND IF THEY LAND ONE BIG PUNCH AT THE END OF A ROUND. FOR EXAMPLE MARQUEZ WAS WINNING THE WHOLE ROUND,BUT JUST BECAUSE PACMAN LANDED "ONE" BIG PUNCH HE WINS IT. ROUNDS ARE 3 MIN. WHO DID BETTER THROUGHOUT THOSE 3 MIN TAKES IT.MANNY WAS THE AGRESOR BUT AN INEFECTIVE AGGRESOR MISSED A LOT, OFFBALANCE LOOKED AMATEUR
@urlilchulo1 Who threw more punches? Who landed more punches? Who landed more power shots? Who was the 9-1 underdog? Who won just by making it a competitive fight? answer all of those questions and you will know why the decision went the way it did.
@boxinginfo yea.pacman threw more punches.but missed most of them. a fighter does not win just because he throws more.. yea he could throw 300 more punches but only lands 10.marquez may thrown less but landed more cleaner POWER punches.(ACCURACY) .who landed more punches MArquez did he landed the more cleaner POWER punches(body punches, straight right hand, upper cut, left hooks all night).compubox is B.S im sorry.. nobody should go by that.manny only landed a couple of left hands on the fight..
@boxinginfo P.S according to the 2nd and I believe the 1st as well pac and marquez fan marquez beat pacman in all compubox categories how come nobody made a big deal on that? everybody ignored it.. but for this 3rd fight its a big deal?? Again I think compubox is B.S just wanted tobring that up..
@urlilchulo1 I guess you don't watch this show very much because I felt Marquez won the first two fights. So if Compubox is BS then I guess I shouldn't think Marquez won the first two fights either right?
Marquez has made a career of coming up just short and this started in a TERRIBLE effort on his part fighting Freddie Norwood for the WBA Featherweight title, his conservative style lost him that fight as well same thing against Chris John and now this fight.
@boxinginfo yes marquez was the underdog.yes pacman was the aggresor and made it a competitive but dat doest win fights but i get the point you are making but those i believe should not be wat decides a fight every body is forgetting about true boxing.. counterpunching is an art in boxing that people just ignore no need to be the aggressor Marquez showed us what boxing is all about But everybody just goes for the aggresor.ALL my opinions and i respect your opinions as well no hard feelings haha
marquez was robbed!!! I understand pacquiao was the aggressor and came forward but it's obvious there were more important things here than legacy.. and that is MONEY! I'm sorry for Marquez no boxer should be used in this way to promote an even bigger fight. I love boxing with all my heart but now I can care less w the next fight will be. I hope marquez doesn't retire he should fight morales as his exit fight. FUCK bob arum!
@2messy4usmc So I guess if a guy fights going backwards in a counter puncher's style and throws less shots, lands even less shots and lands less power shots we should give him the decision because he made the fight competitive when it was originally thought he wouldn't?
@boxinginfo lol that has nothing to do with anything pacquiao was the champion and with that alone he was the favorite. the first and second fight marquez didn't get the dicision because of the knockdowns.. now wtf is the excuse??? does marquez have to kill pacquiao in the ring to win??
@boxinginfo its not a matter of understanding or acknowledging you are a perfect example of how boxing has gone down soooo much over the years!! to people like you it's become just another sport of statistics and number. I wonder when boxing stopped being a FIGHT!!! Where two man fight to see who's a better fighter not who can score more points. If that's all you care about then YOU stop watching boxing and start watching basketball or what ever your satisfied with your damn rules and points!
@2messy4usmc "I wonder when boxing stopped being a FIGHT!!!" I'll be glad to tell you when, back in mid 1988 when the IBF the last of the major boxing organizations changed their world title fights from 15 rounds to 12. Believe me when I tell you there was controversy in the 15 round days but not nearly as much with scoring as there has been since then.
Lets be honest I don't care who won the fight, you obviously had some sort of stake in it. How r we suppposed to decide who wins if neither -
@boxinginfo fighter scores a stoppage? Boxing is subjective, the second something happens that goes against conventional wisdom such as marquez being competitive which most people including the oddsmakers and myself didn't believe he could be, he automatically deserves every break available and the benefit of the doubt over the defending champion. I'm sorry but if Marquez thinks he has a legit gripe he needs to get behind Marvelous Marvin Hagler b/c his is bigger and more legit.
@boxinginfo I didn't have any stake in it I dnt even cheer for either marquez or pacquiao im a big arturo gatti and sergio martinez fan Im just dissapointed in boxing for this I'm half white half mexican with some european I picked manny to win by stoppage but as a true fan of the sport this is unacceptable and I blame bob arum and wbo or who ever da fuck was in charge. it's not manny's fault by any means even tho he will never admit he got his ass whooped.
@2messy4usmc Listen, I don't think either guy whooped the other one. We were all expecting that to happen and part of the disappointment is that we basically watched a chess match. The judge who scored 116-112 for Pac should be shot, the other 2 115-113 and 114-114 I'm good with. If one of them scored 115-113 for Marquez I'm ok with that as well, but people thinking this was 116-112 or 117-111 for Marquez are absolutely off their collective rockers. If people want to be mad be mad about the 116-
Hey islander, i'd like to hear you talk about the margarito/cotto face off you eluded to in the 21st minute of this video. Just want your opinion on the matter
@owengg17 Thank you I don't want Joe Frazier's passing to get lost in this idiotic banter about Pacquiao and Marquez. It was one of the more moving things I have read recently. Two thumbs up to Tarvis Simms.
To all the FLOMOS and folks who take everything I say LITERALLY let me point out a couple of things:
1. I said Marquez and Mayweather approach defense differently. Marquez ducks and slips to avoid shots, FMJ gravitates to a shell or pocket that requires blocking and covering up.
2. I NEVER SAID FMJ couldn't duck or slip. You have to be mentally retarded to think I believe anybody could fight at this level without being able to do that.
@boxinginfo I have to disagree. I just reviewed the first round of Mayweather-Ortiz. Mayweather ducked a punch 15 times, slipped a punch four times, parried a punch twice, and used the Philly Shell as a defensive manuever once in the entire first round. It was the same scenario over the course of the remaining rounds. Ducking after a pull-counter is one of his primary signature moves. He sparingly uses the Philly Schell in the center of the ring.
@computercornerplusNC Here. See for yourself. I think people are confusing the placement of Mayweather's hands during a shoulder roll with the Philly Shell defense when he's on the ropes.
@boxinginfo In the center of the ring. Floyd was on the ropes for a grand total of 34 seconds in the 4th round. His back touched the ropes six times. For argument's sake, we can say seven, if you want to include going to the neutral corner when the KO occurred.
@computercornerplusNC Good deal, maybe Pacquiao and Marquez can fight a couple more times and Pacquiao can wait until Mayweather starts the inevitable Roy Jones/Sugar Ray Leonard decline and then they cane get it on like the Hopkins Roy Jones rematch.
@boxinginfo Pacquiao will wear down before Mayweather, even with their disparity in ages. He get hits too much. Jones is a bad comparison. He never had great boxing fundamentals. When his reflexes and blazing speed left him, he was no longer a god among men. SRL? He just lost to a younger version of himself in Norris. I highly doubt Mayweather continues to fight into his late thirties. But, if he did, he's more likely to maintain his success comparable to Hopkins.
@computercornerplusNC@computercornerplusNC Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don't. Mayweather opponent's connect percentages have gone down as Floyd has moved up in weight.
@boxinginfo You must have missed pre-Vernon Shane Mosley. He was a terror. Not until Roach saw the Mosley-Mora debacle, did he change his mind on Pacquiao facing Mosley. In February '10, Mosley asked Roach twice to let him face Pacquiao. "Shane came to the gym twice to ask me to let him fight Manny," Roach says. "I told him no both times, and both times for the same two reasons: First, there isn't enough money there, and second, you're too good a fighter."
@computercornerplusNC I didn't miss it. Roach also told Mosley he wanted him to come in at 142 or something. Mosley told Roach,"Oscar didn't have to" to which Roach replied, "You're a lot better than Oscar" then Mosley got rail roaded by Mayweather and looked horrendous against Mora and then got the fight.
@boxinginfo lmao are you seriously trying to say marquez has better/slicker head movement than mayweather? Not only does mayweather have better defense, he's got speed to match pacquaio, size on pacquaio, and abillity to equally fight inside and outside unlike marquez who's a medium range fighter
@bunce101 LMAO do you need to visit the doctor and have your ears irrigated or something? When did I say,"marquez has better/slicker head movement than mayweather"? I never said any such thing, and I'm not so sure about that speed thing if I'm keeping this real.
@boxinginfo....Diasgree completely. Mayweather ducks n slips better than Marquez by a country mile. His defence is one of the most versatile in history. Said it all along, I have never given Pacquiao anything other than a lucky punch chance against Mayweather.
@DirkDigglerV3 Please listen to the video more carefully. I said 1.Mayweather DOES EVERYTHING better than Marquez. 2. I said they approach defense differently. 3. I never said Mayweather can't duck or slip I said he gravitates to a shell/shoulder roll or as his Flomo fans call it "the pocket"
You may be right about Pacquiao's chances but the way I see it Mayweather isn't getting any younger, neither are his great reflexes.
@boxinginfo....i know, I just dont see how Marquez is better at ducking and slipping. I honestly dont believe Marquez's defence is all that great at all. He gets hit an awful lot for someone who is supposedly great at duckin n slipping. Pacquaio's offense was just terrible and sloppy. Just like it always is when he isnt fighting someone who comes straight forward.
@DirkDigglerV3 NOBODY said Marquez was better than Mayweather at anything. Marquez' defense is very subtle, he moves to his left and bends at his waste. What I figured out in this fight is that Pacquiao is most effective against guys who try to get on top of him like his previous 1/2 dozen opponents. He doesn't do as well with guys who can get lower than him and get under his left hand.
Yet the FLOMOS will tell you Pacquiao was off the roids this time and this is why the fight went this way.
@DirkDigglerV3 AGREED tell that to the idiots that make videos saying Pacquiao was running "DRY" this time. You know the same morons who hang on every word of a convicted felon (FMJ Sr.)
hey boxinginfo, i think its time to make a new video. I'm really hanging to hear what you think about the upcoming fights. 3months since your last video is too long!.

U were wrong about Cotto...wraps don't tear like that...anyways Cotto got his revenge and it was sweet...how can u respect Margarito...I just lost respect for u...
j84e 2 months ago
@j84e Sorry, Cotto is just a SORE LOSER. Some people in Puerto Rico have been trying since the day he lost to Maro to FIRST say Margarito was on steroids. Now we are supposed to believe that the Nevada State Commission let Margarito enter the ring with blocks of cement on his hands? WRONG Then Cotto gets killed by Pacquiao and again the excuses, Pacquiao is on steroids. Cotto has been given a cake walk and still had his face messed up by a shot Margarito. Revenge? More like Pity.
boxinginfo 2 months ago
@boxinginfo i said to my fellow puertoricans , the hand wraps are shit .the only 2 problems for cotto in the margo 1st fight was stamina . i don't care what people said about margo . the guy hits hard . so, if you stay on the ropes ala cotto , you get hurt.but islander you jump on the bandwagon of margo when he beat cotto. that's ok. but you have to give cotto credit . he never refuse to fight anybody.don't get me wrong i'm with you .on the hand wraps drama of hbo and the puertoricans .
anhell32 2 months ago
@boxinginfo anyway i think cotto is 50-50 vs any of the elite at 154.f i was canelo's manager i will put him vs cotto , this is the perfect moment for him.just my opinion.
anhell32 2 months ago
@boxinginfo, in that case, most great fighters are 'sore losers.' I seem to remember your boy Manny saying that wearing the wrong socks, amongst other things, cost him the first fight with Morales. Cotto handled the Margarito issue well, for my money. How can you blame him for the actions of millions of partizan Puerto Ricans? I agree we'll never know for sure whether Marg was guilty, but is it just a coincedence that he suddenly became useless after being rumbled prior to the Mosley fight?
RihannasBikeSeat 1 month ago
@RihannasBikeSeat 1st off - Great name, LOL. Second to answer your last question, I have gone on record many times saying that both Margarito and Cotto would never be the same after their first fight and they are shells of who they used to be b/c they beat it out of each other. The difference is Margo has been thrown to the lions and Cotto w/ the exception of Pac and maybe Clottey has had easy touch after easy touch. Margo can only be useful so long fighting the way he does.
boxinginfo 1 month ago
@boxinginfo, I don't really begrudge Cotto taking on a few patsies such as Jennings, Foreman and Mayorga given the very high level of opposition he's faced over his career - even then, I'd say that his opposition since 2008 has been better than many other so-called 'world champions.' To me, Cotto has been one of the few 'good guys' left in boxing over the past few years; I, for one, was very happy when he reversed the Margarito result, but that's just me, I suppose.
RihannasBikeSeat 1 month ago
@boxinginfo What do you think of Mayweathers BS fighting Miguel Cotto lol, also Floyd calling Pac over twitter to fool the public into thinking he really wanted Pacman, He never once traveled 1 mile in las vegas from his house to top ranks offfice to discuss the fight with Arum, Koncz gave the real deal, he went back and forth to floyd and manny and Floyd he said was very friendly, but his demands were unreal, he refused 5050 and ppv split with Manny, Floyd wanted everything his way

Floyd has never faced a fighter like PAC not saying PAC beats Floyd just saying Floyd might have trouble with Pacs aggression ex. Hat tons aggression the first few rds til Floyd adjusted while Hatton didn't

kapiatgatas 3 months ago
@SnukkaFly His face was bruised up, I didnt see much swelling though. If you say those punches werent damaging, hes not as big of a puncher as Cotto, who messed up his eardrum. His punches were definately effective though cause you can clearly see he had Pacquiao's respect, also Pacquiao threw probably less than half the punches in this fight than he did aginst any of those three guys you mentioned. Manny's body language after the fight looked like he lost.

@boxinginfo I see that you mentioned the foot stepping in one of your comments. Do you think this was excessive or just something that is bound to happen between an orthodox and south paw fighter?
cosmiblue1027 3 months ago
@cosmiblue1027 Yes its bound to happen between orthodox and southpaws. This looked flagrant to me and it was a good tactic on Marquez' part because it totally negated Pacquiao's ability to move in and out. Totally legal but questionable IMO. The legendary Willie Pep did this in the 2nd of his 4 fights with the great Sandy Saddler in the only fight Pep won vs. Saddler and he DID this deliberately b/c Pep knew Saddler had corns on his feet and it hurt like hell, good tactic if you get away with it
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo Great comment man. I bet the Flomos would go wild if Manny started stomping all on Floyds foot and won the fight. No doubt they will all say it was flagrant cheating.
Fighters do step on each others feet, but it can also be a dirty tactic no doubt. Just like Bradley has perfected the accidental head butt. Ortiz needs to work on his head butting skills if he expects to get away with it.
hawkermustang 3 months ago
@hawkermustang
Floyd is too skilled to lose a fight simply because a guy stepped on his foot You Pactards will hold on to anything and make excuses for whatever Manny does.
Shamyrl 3 months ago
I will respectfully disagree i had it 116-112 Marquez. I think Compubox was way off also. I'm just saying if Pacquiao really connected more punches than Marquez did you would think that Pacquiao wouldve wobbled Marquez atlest one time like Juan Diaz did
162773 3 months ago
@162773 There is NO WAY in HELL either guy won 8 rounds in this fight. To answer your question, how was Pacquiao going to wobble Marquez when he was stepping on Pacquiao's right foot all night long? And as far a compubox is concerned, whose face looked worse after 1 round of boxing? After 12 rounds? It was Marquez b/c he was getting hit. Pacquiao had a cut from a head butt not that this tells the story of the whole fight but the damage was apparent.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo Bro, Floyd DOES duck & slip punches..He just mostly likes to show his durability by blocking them & absorbing them....Even with Ortiz, he rolled under his left hand in the first rnd, then he stopped doing it cuz he didnt have to, & he likes to pull counter & slip ur punch...& btw Pac knocked down a washed up Mosley, Floyd got hit by the SAME Mosley who destroyed Margarito..I agree that styles make fights but pac just got beat up by a WASHED up jmm & he is a PUNCHER So I expected a KO
tenfoldsoffspring 3 months ago
@tenfoldsoffspring Bro- WHEN DID I SAY FLOYD COULDN'T SLIP PUNCHES? BTW Pac knocked down the same washed up Mosley that almost knocked down Mayweather he was the same inconsistent guy who just came off an almost 17 month layoff between Margarito and Mayweather, spin this any way you please but the facts are the facts Mosley was looking washed up against Cotto and Mayorga years before Mayweather. KO Marquez like Mayweather did? Did you see Marquez' face after the fight it tells the story?
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo U know that a fighter is judged by his LATEST Performance...Floyd & Mosley were BOTH coming off layoffs, and Floyd fought a good Mosley..& Pac is a PUNCHER...Mayweather was coming off a 2 yr layoff I never expected him to KO Marques. but Pac was supposed to KO WASHED UP Marques..& Pac hits so hard, so he left Marques face bruised, but he couldnt even knock him down and he is supposed to have devestating Power..Pac truely is a media creation..Marques face told NO story LOL
tenfoldsoffspring 3 months ago
@tenfoldsoffspring The operative word is latest which would mean the Pacquaio stock has fallen correct me if I'm mistaken. FLOYD FOUGHT A SHOT MOSLEY who had 1 good fight out of his last 3. FMJ was innactive for almost 8 months Mosley for almost 17 and Mosley is 6 years older and 1 1/2 years older than he was since his last good win (Margarito).
Media creations don't walk through Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, DeLaHoya, and Hatton. Media creations just don't fight 3/5 of the list I just gave you.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo I give Pac credit for Cotto, But roach admitted they ONLY would fight him cuz he was "damaged", Clottey was low class coming off a loss, Margarito was SUPER damaged and roach said he wouldnt fight him UNLESS he looked bad against Mosley, Oscar was DRAINED OUT OF HIS MIND..LMAO...didnt u kno that most legitimate boxing fans see Pac's record as dolled up?..and Floyd was coming off a TWO yr layoff before Marques,..Mosley was more active than Mayweather bro...Give credit..Pac is fake!
tenfoldsoffspring 3 months ago
@tenfoldsoffspring While you take a breath in between sipping Mayweather juice. Stop making shit up, Roach said this and that. The only thing he said was Mosley was better than ODLH and would have to come in at 142 or something gay like that. You don't even have a real channel, all you are is a troll who is wasting everybody's time w/ your Pacquaio hating and Mayweather nut hugging. In other words we don't need you around here. Don't bother addressing why Pacquiao fought Cotto and FMJ wont

had it 116-113 for marquez.
judging is a subjective thing.
but clean punching should count and marquez was boss in that department.
eddiemurphy12 3 months ago
Great poem and analysis on the fight. I thought Marquez won 115-113 but many of the rounds could have gone either way. Nacho did his fighter a disservice by saying he had the fight won, in the tenth round. I felt if Marquez would have put his foot on the gas pedal in the last two rounds, he would have won easy. Do u think the ref should score fights, like they did back in the day? Before I forget RIP Joe Souza, one of boxing's best cutmen
shaft226 3 months ago
I think MP has a great chance against FM. Yes, Mayweather can do everything that JMM do but two times better. But one major thing that Mayweather doesn't that JMM do is that he does take risk like how you mentioned on your video. I believe MP has trouble against fighter who counters punches with Combos. And thats exactly what JMM was doing all night. May on the hand counters with 1 or 2 punches only. Because of that, I think MP would have a great chance in doing what he do best. 123456 bang
divinitycha 3 months ago
After watching this fight, I know a lot of fight fan aren't going to give Pac any chance against May.. But I disagree because like you said, Style makes fight. And one thing you forgot to mention was that in the fight with JMM vs May, JMM was more the aggressor. because he was the aggressor, he fell right into MAY's fight. In my opinion, I think because of that, May looked marvelous against him. Not saying May's other assets didn't too but that was the key for him to looked good..
divinitycha 3 months ago
@SnukkaFly No. I don't think Pacquiao is a steroid user. Pacquiao's move up in weight is an approximate replica of Floyd's rise in weight. It's virtually identical comparing the weight and ages as they moved up.
Actually, I don't. I was 5'8" and 122lbs when I graduated high school. My parents started to kid me about my weight gain. I tried to burn it off and gain muscle. I had definition, but no muscle mass. A Google search resulted in me finding out about protein synthesis.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
Thanks for the in depth analysis. It is nice to see somebody go through the fight round by round with specific examples in each round instead of making sweeping generalizations or making a decision on the fight based on highlight reels. After watching the fight live, I couldn't clearly determine who had won and wouldn't have been surprised with a win by either of them. However, I do not think it was a "robbery" as so many have claimed. It was not at all a one-sided fight.
cosmiblue1027 3 months ago
This reminds me of Whitaker-De La Hoya; the popular money maker gets the nod. This has nothing to do with the notion that you have to wrestle the belt away from the champion; in the case of Whitaker, he was the champion and still lost his belt, because he wasn't a household name. Everyone at the bar I was watching JMM-Pac at thought that it was a robbery. What a disgrace for boxing this was.
JasonMarshMusic 3 months ago
@SnukkaFly I'm thirty-seven years old. I put on 12 lbs of muscle this summer and I did it without a nutritionist, but just information I gleaned off the internet. Are you trying to argue anecdotal evidence against scientific fact? Hell, the entire history of bodybuilding destroys your argument. The mean age of the winner of Mr. Olympia and Mr. Universe competitions aren't guys in their twenties, but their mid-thirties.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
@SnukkaFly One other thing...if Bob chooses Marquez first. Manny will be pressured to knock-out Marquez. This would increase or carry the revenue and ppv buys for Mayweather vs Pacquiao. But I don't know if this is even possible because Marquez is so resilient. They have to really think about this...and judge what Pacquiao is really capable of.
williamsees 3 months ago
@williamsees Sorry @SnukkaFly, the last response was for @fightfan0000.
williamsees 3 months ago
@SnukkaFly You can gain 1lb of muscle mass a week easily with exercise with a strong emphasis on proper nutrition. The process for building muscles is called protein synthesis. You keep your protein levels higher than your body can break it down. You do know they have formulas for this stuff, right?
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
Good analysis, thanks but I think you miss THE KEY implication for Pac/FMJ in the aftermath of Pac/JMM3, which is the signficant psychological shift that has occurred. Pac/JMM3 exposed the boxing world's overestimation of Pacquiao. The emergence of doubt around Pacquiao's invincibility, now, and firming public opinion that FMJ would win (if they ever fight) clearly provides FMJ with a psychological edge...which, in my opinion, is very powerful at that level of the sport.
fightfan0000 3 months ago
@fightfan0000 Actually I think I said in the video that after each one fights the collective community puts that guy Mayweather or Pacquiao a leg up on the other. This is the first time as I compared this to the college football BCS that one performed and actually lost ground tot he other.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo I see, fair enough. What's your view on who PAcquiao fights next? My gut feel is that they won't let Pacquiao fight Mayweather unless it follows a convincing Pacquiao victory. And given he could fall short if he fights Marquez for a fourth time I'm thinking he fights maybe Bradley?
fightfan0000 3 months ago
@fightfan0000 No...it can't be Bradley it wouldn't make sense. It can only be Mayweather or Marquez now. Pacquiao was supposed to blitz marquez, but he couldn't do it, so now they have to decide whether to re-fight Marquez or fight Mayweather. Its a pain really. The best plan would be Pac vs May first, then Pac vs Marq, and then Pac vs May again (Marq vs May would also make sense). This would generate the most revenue for pacquiao its also pretty risky...I think.
williamsees 3 months ago
Great breakdown of the Pacman JMM fight, completely agree with your summary. What I really enjoyed was your interpretation of a potential matchup against FMJ. I've always thought that Mayweather would present the most evasive of targets for Pacman (as he is so hard to hit), at that Pac always looks great against fighters that are happy to take a punch (Margarito, Hatton, Washed up ODLH) but never thought of it in terms of lateral and vertical head movement. Very interesting.

TheGreatJuicebox 3 months ago
@TheGreatJuicebox Lol, that was not my video. Pacquiao stepped on Marquez foot twice in just a rnd. Marquez stepped on Pacquiao's foot 17 times. Don't you think that is a little to much? I really think Marquez trained for this, because he knew where his weight was going, and knew when to throw his punches. It also disrupted pacquiao's tempo. They studied Pacquiao well, specially Pac vs Mosley, and Clottey. If you watch Mosley v Pac, you can see that Pacquiao panic when Mosley step on his feet.
williamsees 3 months ago
@williamsees Pac stepped on his foot 23 times. If you look back pac has been stepping on feet since the beginning of his career.
TheGreatJuicebox 3 months ago
@williamsees Not that it matters btw, i just find this whole blaming each fighter for stupid shit hilarious.
TheGreatJuicebox 3 months ago
@TheGreatJuicebox 23? Maybe 23 total through out his career, that is normal considering his a southpawn. But I'm not making any excuses, just saying the truth. In the third fight Marquez step on Pacquiaos feet 17 times (thats a lot), Pac only 2 times. It was very effective, it help Marquez set up his right, and stop Pacquiao's movement. It also prevented Pacquiao from moving in and out, thats why Pacquiao had to block all the time. I don't think that was fair.
williamsees 3 months ago
@williamsees Is this the first conventional vs. southpaw fight you guys have ever walked? Stepping on your opponents foot is a staple of conventional vs southpaw fights. I'm starting to think that some of you guys just started to watch boxing yesterday.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
@computercornerplusNC Misspelling: watched instead of walked. Sorry.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
@computercornerplusNC can you choose your word a little bit better? Its hard to understand, when you used words like "walked" and "staple," they're out of context. Anyway, no I didn't just start watching yesterday. Having said that, I never seen a "righty vs lefty" stepping on the other boxer so much (17x), specially in an important fight. It might be common in Mexico in the amateurs, but not in huge ppv buys.
I'm an educated watcher. Use to be a kickboxer and grampler, that is all.

mcanto78 3 months ago
Another good recap, well done. One thing I have to say though : I think you're way off on your analysis about the differences between Mayweather and Marquez. Mayweather doesn't slip and duck? Come on man, go rewatch the Ortiz fight. It was a festival of right hand leads and DIPS. Marquez used that same blueprint against Pacquiao last saturday. When Floyd fights southpaws he doesn't use his shoulder roll defense much, he just relies on his upper body movement and yes he does duck low.
balistik94 3 months ago
@balistik94 Thanks you! But please listen to the video again. I never said Mayweather doesn't do those basic defensive things. I never said Marquez does anything better than Mayweather. I say they approach defense differently and Marquez takes risks that Mayweather never would.
boxinginfo 3 months ago

CodeHand1988 3 months ago
@CodeHand1988 So I guess the guy coming forward who throws more punches and MORE IMPORTANTLY LANDS MORE should lose the fight? Is that your gov't education talking?
I'm sorry this was a repeat of Hagler Leonard only this time the guy coming forward and making the fight got the decision and the guy who was so supposed to be thrown to the lions exceeded everybody's expectations which is causing this controversy.
Is this too much for your brain to handle? BTW you're on a real short leash.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo, landed more? Maybe if, like compubox, you count punches which grazed Marquez's gloves. The cleaner work continually came from Marquez, who was much more accurate with what he threw, landed the more telling shots and made Pacquiao miss a hell of a lot more than the other way around. Just because he wasn't on the front foot doesn't mean Marquez wasn't aggressive - he initiated a lot of exchanges while holding his ground or BOXING in reverse. Made Pacquiao look clueless.
CodeHand1988 3 months ago
@CodeHand1988 "like compubox, you count punches which grazed Marquez's gloves" Yes landed more. Look at the damage on their faces. Pacquiao had a cut from an accidental head butt. Marquez' face was showing the effects early on and swelling later on.
Cleaner work was coming from Marquez I agree.
More accurate? 32% to 30% and again I reiterate Pacquiao threw more and landed more and was the boxer making the fight.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo, using their faces as a yardstick...really? Some people mark up easier than others, big deal. Hatton's face was in far worse a condition than Lazcano's after they fought, sure as hell doesn't mean Lazcano was anywhere near to deserving a decision. Marquez always had the outside foot and made Pacquiao miss more than anyone else has. Pacquiao looked clumsy to me. As I said, Marquez initiated a lot more exchanges than people think. Look at Pacquiao at the final bell - he knew he'd lost.
CodeHand1988 3 months ago
@CodeHand1988 Question who threw and landed more shots Hatton or Lazcano? Who won the decision?
"made Pacquiao miss more than anyone else" You do realize Pacquiao landed 3 out of every 10 shots he threw?
The final bell? Pacquiao looks like he just let himself and legions of fans down after just short of promising to get a stoppage he was no where close to getting.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo, as I said, I don't care much for 'compubox numbers' - just a system for people who lack the competence to score a fight on their own, using their own judgement. The better BOXING was coming from Marquez, simple as that. Come on, Pacquiao looked embarrassed when the decision was announced. It's funny, because I know that you and a load of others didn't want to give Mayweather any credit at all for dominating JMM north of 140 lb. Puts his quality in to perspective.
CodeHand1988 3 months ago
@CodeHand1988 Actually if Mayweather would have stuck to the agreed upon contracted weight with Marquez I would be a lot more accommodating to him for that fight. It was a brilliant style mach up for Mayweather not so for Pacquiao.
I have nothing but positive things to say about Mayweather for taking the Victor Ortiz fight it was a legitimate risk as seen by the damage he suffered albeit illegal. It was the conclusion I have issue with.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo, yes, he came in a couple of lb heavier than contracted - but a couple of lb doesn't matter or make any difference, isn't that what everyone says when Pacquiao, yet again, asks for a catchweight to pick up a title in another division? Fair enough if you're giving Mayweather due credit for fighting Ortiz though, I suppose. I just find the whole 'Manny is the good guy, Floyd is the bad guy' routine tiresome and, for the most part, wildy inaccurate, too.
CodeHand1988 3 months ago
@CodeHand1988 My problem stems from people's actions. Example Mayweather does what he does to Marquez, fine. Pacquiao fights DeLaHoya after FMJ passes on a rematch. Pac then fights Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, and Margarito in succession. The latter 3 Mayweather has always discredited and won't get in the ring with yet they all fight each other. Good vs. Bad? Not sure i can qualify that. Actions vs. Words I just showed you, actions speak louder.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo, yes, but you fail to mention that Mayweather also dominated Mosley who was coming off the back of a decent win - the same Mosley who, before then, team Pacquiao had said was "too good" for Pacquiao to fight at the full Welterweight limit. Cotto, I can understand your point, as Mayweather-Cotto was THE 147 lb fight people wanted in 2008 - but Clottey and Margarito? They're of no consequence to Mayweather at all. No different to Pacquiao not, thus far, fighting Ortiz / Berto, no more.
CodeHand1988 3 months ago 2
@CodeHand1988 I don't like to put much into either Mayweather or Pacquiao beating Mosley because they both white washed him and he had been seriously inconsistent over the past few years the Margarito fight was an aberration he looked horrendous before (vs.Mayorga) and after. People also forget that Mosley beat Margarito in 01/09 and didn't fight again until 05/10 so he was inconsistent and inactive to boot. Actually Cotto Marg and Clottey held more clout over Berto & Ortiz.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo, I accept that Mosley wasn't the same Sugar Shane he'd been back at the turn of the century (how two of the judges had him ahead before the KO against Mayorga I'll never know) but the fact remains that team Pac openly said they wanted no part of Mosley at the proper Welterweight limit before Mayweather beat him. If Marg and Clottey hold more clout than Ortiz and Berto then it's only be a wafer-thin margin; Clottey is plain ordinary, and Marg has usually lost to the best he's faced.
CodeHand1988 3 months ago
@CodeHand1988 I agree with you about Roach's games he'll only take fights he thinks he knows Pacquiao can win and its his fault this fight went the way it did for Pacquiao which was ugly.
I would make Margarito a favorite to stop both Ortiz and Berto if he still has left what he came into the ring against Pacquiao with. I'd favor Cotto to beat both of them as well there not that good trust me.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo, as I said, I accept your point about Cotto - he's a league above both Berto & Ortiz. My point is that Margarito, particularly with his busted headlamp, & Clottey only represent a small improvement on Berto & Ortiz, if any. Just don't think Mayweather should be particularly criticised for not fighting those two - the books will show they're not in his class. I think we saw on saturday night that Marquez, even above his best weight, represents a bigger 147 lb challenge than those two.
CodeHand1988 3 months ago
@CodeHand1988 Margarito was a long time WBO titleist that Mayweather passed on for Baldomir. Personally I think he would have beaten Margo with a little more trouble than he had w/Baldomir. Cotto we both agree on. My point is Margo fought Cotto, Clottey, Mosley, Pac. Cotto fought Margo, Clottey Mosley, and Pac. The only 2 who didn't fight are Clottey and Mosley and Clottey and Pac b/c Clottey is a wafer above Ortiz and Berto. But that is the best fighting the best. Where is Mayweather in there?
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@CodeHand1988 Part II Let me ask you a question do you really believe the pre Mosley Margo would have been floored by FMJ? Do you think the scoring would have been worse than FMJ over JMM?My answer is no Mayweather isn't scoring knockdowns over any of those guys he'd still beat them comfortably imo.But in no way shape or form is JMM more of a 147 threat than Margarito used to be. All this was was a favorable style match up for JMM.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo, in fairness, Mayweather was retired between December 2007 and September 2009, when a lot of those match ups you mentioned happened. Now I know there is a temptation to say it was a fake retirement aimed at avoiding certain fights, but the truth is none of us know if Mayweather was serious (at the time) about never fighting again. I don't think Mayweather would deck Margo, no. But I could see him securing a shut out. Margo is a plain slugge with a chinr, little more.
CodeHand1988 3 months ago
@boxinginfo If you're going to use that line of reasoning, JMM should be the winner in their previous contests, as he both threw and landed more. Pacquiao might have landed more this time, but it wasn't effective punching. CompuBox counts punches landed on arms on the same level as landing to the body or head. Guess where a majority of his punches wound up? Hell, CompuBox is a poor qualifier for scoring a round anyway.
P.S. Leonard's punches thrown and landed were higher than Hagler's.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
@computercornerplusNC I'm not sure how long you have been watching me but you stand correct I had Marquez winning both the first two fights. It's on record on YouTube.
As far as I know CompuBox only tabulates shots to the body and anywhere on the head, HBO added in recent years the mannequin video of where the breakdown of shots land. This is why I said there was a 10 punch discrepancy in that display from the normal CompuBox breakdown on the previous screen 176 to 166 I believe for Pacquiao.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo I just confirmed with Bob Canobbio, owner of CompuBox. Punches landed on arms and shoulders are counted in the landed tabulations.
Bob provided this tweet on Twitter.
"Manny landed just 17 more power punches and Marquez landed the cleaner shots."
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
I remember back when Hatton fought Pac and there was talk of Marquez as an opponent for Hatton and I remember thinking that Hatton would be to big and strong for Marquez and would dominate him. Based on what I saw on Saturday I would pick Marquez to KO a pre Mayweather Hatton. I think Marquez is better at 140 than most people realize and has been underestimated (including my self) as a good 140 fighter because of the weight class he came up from.
taylex18 3 months ago
Come on now....even rounds are for pussies. Ledermann is retarded though. Marquez won the fight, i scored it even clearer the 2nd time around. Pacquaio and Roach have had 3 fights in almost 8 years with this guy and made 0 adjustments. Well i guess maybe he tried to "box" this time....lol. He couldnt beat Marquez when he was a brawler and he cant beat Marquez now hes a boxer. Marquez is just a superior fighter.
DirkDigglerV3 3 months ago 4
@DirkDigglerV3 Zero adjustments? Did we not see Pacquiao trying to play counter puncher the first 4 rounds and failing? Did you not see the futile use of the Pacquiao right hand that was non existent in the 2 previous fights?
IMO Pacquiao screwed this fight up for himself by trying this counter the counter puncher idiotic plan that Freddie Roach most likely came up with. Kudos for Marquez being in the right place at the right time.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
I fully agree about the drawn rounds. I have always believed that a round has to be won and not awarded by default. I like your point about crowd expectation giving Marquez points he may not have deserved. Ultimately though, I think more 10-10 rounds should be awarded which would result in more draws. This should remove a lot of debatable decisions and force more rematches.

WHO DID BETTER THROUGHOUT THOSE 3 MIN TAKES IT.MANNY WAS THE AGRESOR BUT AN INEFECTIVE AGGRESOR MISSED A LOT, OFFBALANCE LOOKED AMATEUR
urlilchulo1 3 months ago 4
@urlilchulo1 RING GEneralship?? Defense?? AFFECTIVE agression??? i believe marquez won on all three of thesse categories
urlilchulo1 3 months ago 2
@urlilchulo1 Who threw more punches? Who landed more punches? Who landed more power shots? Who was the 9-1 underdog? Who won just by making it a competitive fight? answer all of those questions and you will know why the decision went the way it did.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo yea.pacman threw more punches.but missed most of them. a fighter does not win just because he throws more.. yea he could throw 300 more punches but only lands 10.marquez may thrown less but landed more cleaner POWER punches.(ACCURACY) .who landed more punches MArquez did he landed the more cleaner POWER punches(body punches, straight right hand, upper cut, left hooks all night).compubox is B.S im sorry.. nobody should go by that.manny only landed a couple of left hands on the fight..
urlilchulo1 3 months ago
@urlilchulo1 What the hell is wrong with you???
Pacquiao threw more total punches
Pacquiao landed more total punches
Pacquaio landed more power shots
Compubox or not, how the hell did the swelling and bruising get on Marquez' face ?
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo P.S according to the 2nd and I believe the 1st as well pac and marquez fan marquez beat pacman in all compubox categories how come nobody made a big deal on that? everybody ignored it.. but for this 3rd fight its a big deal?? Again I think compubox is B.S just wanted tobring that up..
urlilchulo1 3 months ago
@urlilchulo1 I guess you don't watch this show very much because I felt Marquez won the first two fights. So if Compubox is BS then I guess I shouldn't think Marquez won the first two fights either right?
Marquez has made a career of coming up just short and this started in a TERRIBLE effort on his part fighting Freddie Norwood for the WBA Featherweight title, his conservative style lost him that fight as well same thing against Chris John and now this fight.
boxinginfo 3 months ago

FUCK bob arum!

paolokenken 3 months ago
@2messy4usmc So I guess if a guy fights going backwards in a counter puncher's style and throws less shots, lands even less shots and lands less power shots we should give him the decision because he made the fight competitive when it was originally thought he wouldn't?
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo lol that has nothing to do with anything pacquiao was the champion and with that alone he was the favorite. the first and second fight marquez didn't get the dicision because of the knockdowns.. now wtf is the excuse??? does marquez have to kill pacquiao in the ring to win??
2messy4usmc 3 months ago
@2messy4usmc "the first and second fight marquez didn't get the dicision because of the knockdowns.. now wtf is the excuse???"
Listen carefully:
Pacquiao thew more punches
Pacquiao landed more total punches
Pacquiao landed more power shots
Pacquiao was the aggressor
Marquez was only 2% more efficient which means because he threw less he scored less.
If you can't understand what i just told you or you refuse to acknowledge it, just don't watch boxing anymore b/c this happens all the time.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo its not a matter of understanding or acknowledging you are a perfect example of how boxing has gone down soooo much over the years!! to people like you it's become just another sport of statistics and number. I wonder when boxing stopped being a FIGHT!!! Where two man fight to see who's a better fighter not who can score more points. If that's all you care about then YOU stop watching boxing and start watching basketball or what ever your satisfied with your damn rules and points!
2messy4usmc 3 months ago
@2messy4usmc "I wonder when boxing stopped being a FIGHT!!!" I'll be glad to tell you when, back in mid 1988 when the IBF the last of the major boxing organizations changed their world title fights from 15 rounds to 12. Believe me when I tell you there was controversy in the 15 round days but not nearly as much with scoring as there has been since then.
Lets be honest I don't care who won the fight, you obviously had some sort of stake in it. How r we suppposed to decide who wins if neither -
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo fighter scores a stoppage? Boxing is subjective, the second something happens that goes against conventional wisdom such as marquez being competitive which most people including the oddsmakers and myself didn't believe he could be, he automatically deserves every break available and the benefit of the doubt over the defending champion. I'm sorry but if Marquez thinks he has a legit gripe he needs to get behind Marvelous Marvin Hagler b/c his is bigger and more legit.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo I didn't have any stake in it I dnt even cheer for either marquez or pacquiao im a big arturo gatti and sergio martinez fan Im just dissapointed in boxing for this I'm half white half mexican with some european I picked manny to win by stoppage but as a true fan of the sport this is unacceptable and I blame bob arum and wbo or who ever da fuck was in charge. it's not manny's fault by any means even tho he will never admit he got his ass whooped.
2messy4usmc 3 months ago
@2messy4usmc Listen, I don't think either guy whooped the other one. We were all expecting that to happen and part of the disappointment is that we basically watched a chess match. The judge who scored 116-112 for Pac should be shot, the other 2 115-113 and 114-114 I'm good with. If one of them scored 115-113 for Marquez I'm ok with that as well, but people thinking this was 116-112 or 117-111 for Marquez are absolutely off their collective rockers. If people want to be mad be mad about the 116-

You have to be mentally retarded to think I believe anybody could fight at this level without being able to do that.
boxinginfo 3 months ago 5
@boxinginfo I have to disagree. I just reviewed the first round of Mayweather-Ortiz. Mayweather ducked a punch 15 times, slipped a punch four times, parried a punch twice, and used the Philly Shell as a defensive manuever once in the entire first round. It was the same scenario over the course of the remaining rounds. Ducking after a pull-counter is one of his primary signature moves. He sparingly uses the Philly Schell in the center of the ring.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago 2
@boxinginfo He only uses it to a great effect when his back touches the ropes and there is no possibility to escape with his feet.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago 2
@computercornerplusNC Here. See for yourself. I think people are confusing the placement of Mayweather's hands during a shoulder roll with the Philly Shell defense when he's on the ropes.

@computercornerplusNC Where was he almost the entire 4th round of the Ortiz fight including when he caught that head butt to the mouth?
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo In the center of the ring. Floyd was on the ropes for a grand total of 34 seconds in the 4th round. His back touched the ropes six times. For argument's sake, we can say seven, if you want to include going to the neutral corner when the KO occurred.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
@computercornerplusNC Good deal, maybe Pacquiao and Marquez can fight a couple more times and Pacquiao can wait until Mayweather starts the inevitable Roy Jones/Sugar Ray Leonard decline and then they cane get it on like the Hopkins Roy Jones rematch.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo Pacquiao will wear down before Mayweather, even with their disparity in ages. He get hits too much. Jones is a bad comparison. He never had great boxing fundamentals. When his reflexes and blazing speed left him, he was no longer a god among men. SRL? He just lost to a younger version of himself in Norris. I highly doubt Mayweather continues to fight into his late thirties. But, if he did, he's more likely to maintain his success comparable to Hopkins.
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
@computercornerplusNC @computercornerplusNC Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don't. Mayweather opponent's connect percentages have gone down as Floyd has moved up in weight.
130lbs - 26%

147lbs - 15%
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
@boxinginfo You must have missed pre-Vernon Shane Mosley. He was a terror. Not until Roach saw the Mosley-Mora debacle, did he change his mind on Pacquiao facing Mosley. In February '10, Mosley asked Roach twice to let him face Pacquiao. "Shane came to the gym twice to ask me to let him fight Manny," Roach says. "I told him no both times, and both times for the same two reasons: First, there isn't enough money there, and second, you're too good a fighter."
computercornerplusNC 3 months ago
@computercornerplusNC I didn't miss it. Roach also told Mosley he wanted him to come in at 142 or something. Mosley told Roach,"Oscar didn't have to" to which Roach replied, "You're a lot better than Oscar" then Mosley got rail roaded by Mayweather and looked horrendous against Mora and then got the fight.

@boxinginfo lmao are you seriously trying to say marquez has better/slicker head movement than mayweather? Not only does mayweather have better defense, he's got speed to match pacquaio, size on pacquaio, and abillity to equally fight inside and outside unlike marquez who's a medium range fighter
bunce101 3 months ago
@bunce101 LMAO do you need to visit the doctor and have your ears irrigated or something? When did I say,"marquez has better/slicker head movement than mayweather"? I never said any such thing, and I'm not so sure about that speed thing if I'm keeping this real.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo....Diasgree completely. Mayweather ducks n slips better than Marquez by a country mile. His defence is one of the most versatile in history. Said it all along, I have never given Pacquiao anything other than a lucky punch chance against Mayweather.
DirkDigglerV3 3 months ago
@DirkDigglerV3 Please listen to the video more carefully. I said 1.Mayweather DOES EVERYTHING better than Marquez. 2. I said they approach defense differently. 3. I never said Mayweather can't duck or slip I said he gravitates to a shell/shoulder roll or as his Flomo fans call it "the pocket"
You may be right about Pacquiao's chances but the way I see it Mayweather isn't getting any younger, neither are his great reflexes.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo....i know, I just dont see how Marquez is better at ducking and slipping. I honestly dont believe Marquez's defence is all that great at all. He gets hit an awful lot for someone who is supposedly great at duckin n slipping. Pacquaio's offense was just terrible and sloppy. Just like it always is when he isnt fighting someone who comes straight forward.
DirkDigglerV3 3 months ago
@DirkDigglerV3 NOBODY said Marquez was better than Mayweather at anything. Marquez' defense is very subtle, he moves to his left and bends at his waste. What I figured out in this fight is that Pacquiao is most effective against guys who try to get on top of him like his previous 1/2 dozen opponents. He doesn't do as well with guys who can get lower than him and get under his left hand.
Yet the FLOMOS will tell you Pacquiao was off the roids this time and this is why the fight went this way.
boxinginfo 3 months ago
@boxinginfo....nothin to do with roids, he was just fighting a boxer this time instead of face first fighter.
