For Humanae Vitae alone he deserves to be beatified. He suffered a kind of living martyrdom for his holy words. He faced some difficult choices and as a human being he appears to have made some mistakes. However this does not detract from the fact that he was a good man who spent his life serving the church. I believe his prayers are behind the restoration underway in the church at this moment.

A Holy man but undoubtedly he presided over some of the worst decisions that the Church and Pope have made in centuries. 31 years later the unmitigated disaster is still going on.
