  • Wake up people....This lame A__ government pork barrel spending is being supported on the broken backs of hard working tax payers!! This is an OBAMANATION!!!!!!!!!! if it keeps up were all doomed.

  • ...i could get $10,000 for my trade in but the new car will be $28,500...

don't rush with trade in. the "clunker incentive" will be hidden in the cost of the new car + the scammers will add fraudulent fees to make up for the loss you negotiated on the new car. i would negotiate the OTD price first and then mention the clunker. you may end up keeping your perfectly running old car and still getting a good deal without the incentive.

beware of "WE'LL PAY YOU AT LEAST $____ FOR YOUR OLD CAR"

  • i had a '96 chrysler in good running condition. took it to a honda dealer, pretended i wanted to trade in (after negotiating price of a new car $18,500 + tax). when dealer found out i had a trade-in he offered me $1000 for my car...then $2000....$3000... i pretended to walk away...offer went up to $5000. i was surprised, my chrysler wasn't worth more than 3000. then i asked the salesman if my new honda will cost $13,500 with trade in. He said no, the new honda will now cost 23,500 with trade in

  • That is the problem with this is they are crushing alot of cars that are not 'Clunkers' and somebody could use for years.

  • Another dumb move by the Feds. My '93 Chev 1500 4x2 six stick pickup gets 20 MPG. My business requires a full size pickup. But when I go to the local dealers to "buy American", all they have on the lots here in PA are 4x4 quad cabs that get 13-15 MPG. What are they trying to do? All that's out there are DOWNGRADES! I guess I'll wait for the new diesel Mahindra pickups from India that carry 800 pounds more and get 32-34 MPG.

  • My 1992 Chevy 1500 4x2 gets 23 on the highway and NO LESS than 20 everywhere else. A 34 gal. gas tank 700+ miles cruising range . Never goes out in Winter, is treated like a Cadillac. Has ZERO rust on it..bed so clean you could literally eat off of it. Has 4.3 V6 with the throttle body MUCH better than later trucks. No OBD II means exempt from emissions inspections...BIG advantage. It's paid for. It's in better shape than most trucks only 4 years old. I will keep mine for many years to come.
