Actually gay marriage has been legalized in the UK. It has now become part of the law. Under the law, couples who want to form a partnership must register their intentions with local councils. Unlike marriages, the signing of the legal partnership papers does not need to happen in public.

I find it pretty funny that people that didn't read the ruling are calling this a victory for prop 8. The justices ruled that the prop 8 was VOTED into action in a constitutionally acceptable way. They did not vote on the actual constitutionality of the legislation. They state that very clearly in the last page of their ruling. Meaning that a case could easily be brought against it.
This is America. We voted and these people protest! This proves that they are the ones who are intolerant. If you disagree with them, you are a hater and intolerant. They want to force their mess on us. They have no respect for you if you disagree with them. Respect goes both ways. They like to compare their cause with the Civil Rights movement. There's a difference. One was to get equal rights under the law, and one wants special rights over the law.

Having once had your same view, I will say it's wrong. I grew up in a religious conservative family where without knowing it I was a racist and homophobe. I am in no way calling you racist of homophobic, but these were my reasons for hating gays. I will say that there is no justifiable reason to withhold marriage from homosexuals, just like there isn't a justifiable reason to withhold it from interracial couples. Eventually the majority will realize this and it will be overturned.

Actually gay marriage has been legalized in the UK. It has now become part of the law. Under the law, couples who want to form a partnership must register their intentions with local councils. Unlike marriages, the signing of the legal partnership papers does not need to happen in public.

I find it pretty funny that people that didn't read the ruling are calling this a victory for prop 8. The justices ruled that the prop 8 was VOTED into action in a constitutionally acceptable way. They did not vote on the actual constitutionality of the legislation. They state that very clearly in the last page of their ruling. Meaning that a case could easily be brought against it.

So now what? people are getting tired of this and they'll certainly say the issue has been closed now that courts have ruled. The activists can go for another referandum but the turnout will be much lower and the campaign much more shriller. And for the record the 18 already married were allowed to keep their marriages.

No,,, i dont hate gay people... I have no problem if they want to be together... I am just against them getting married... if they want to be together in a state of union then they need to call it something else... Im fine with them being able to share taxes, be considered family, etc... Im sure they have their reasons... but its not right to try and take away something that Christian people find sacred... 1) Sure, in the same sense it that when inter-racial couples wanted equal rights, it was a way to mock "normal" people.
2) Define "normal" - homosexuality is found abundantly in nature, so don't use that route. You also have to be sure your "normal" argument cannot be applied to other subjects, otherwise it would make you a hypocrite.

1) I never stated being gay is ok because animals do it. I said being gay is NATURAL because it is found in NATURE. These are two different things.
2) You're just repeating yourself now. Define "normal", and do it in a way that it doesn't make you a hypocrite.

Again, no they didn't. Many states allow same sex marriage and/or civil unions. Also, many countries have legalized it as well. [Canada, Sweden, etc...]
Also, even if the entire country did vote on it, it would mean nothing. Just like if the entire country bans inter-racial marriage, or if an entire country does not allow women to vote, I'm going to fight either way for civil rights.

Having once had your same view, I will say it's wrong. I grew up in a religious conservative family where without knowing it I was a racist and homophobe. I am in no way calling you racist of homophobic, but these were my reasons for hating gays. I will say that there is no justifiable reason to withhold marriage from homosexuals, just like there isn't a justifiable reason to withhold it from interracial couples. Eventually the majority will realize this and it will be overturned.
