  • how high can it go ?

  • @pukhtoonistan007 depends how many doobies you bring

  • imagin if you put a whipper snipper motor in there you can travil fast and long with very small amounts of fuel

  • epic win for man!

  • lol, anyone else thinkning about the p p long stocking movie, where they build a plane, and p p long stocking peddlings and flys the plane. oh, man, those were the days

  • I wonder how Lance Armstrong would fair in a race like this? Probably not so good there is no mountains to climb.

  • @brewcrewfan31 Like climbing, piloting this thing is about power to body weight ratio. At the peak of his career, LA would have been an ideal choice to fly it.

  • lmao @Kayzaks comment! having a cramp in midair would mean a bad day!

  • i thought it was the gossomer condor?

  • Me gustaria que las vendieran!!

  • Would suck to have a muscle cramp half way!

  • @applesweeter i think we just love flying, beceause we where like glued on earth since were born. And so flying is anything special, it gives you a feeling of freedom like nothing can give you. Youre just away from all the f--cking problems on earth. Thats my meaning about the 1st questiom

  • Put helium in the wings? or was that already thought of?

  • I wonder if this would be possible for scheduled flights. Maybe a human powered jumbo for sports tourism.

  • This is the Daedalus 88 (Daedalus is the name of a Greek mythical hero who made wings of feather and wax and flew to escape from King Minos).

It was made by MIT to celebrate the Greek myth and it actually flew that mythical distance of 115 kilometers (74miles) in Greece at 1988 from the Greek island Crete (Iraklion airport) to a beach in Santorini in 3hr and 54min! The pilot was the Greek Olympic cyclist Kanellos Kanellopoulos.

This is a world record for human powered flight that still stands!

  • i personally think our government wants to keep stuff like this under cover. They don't seem to like free energy as they cannot prodit from selling oil. If people had free flying machiens that were free as riding a bicycle just imagine the kinds of things you could get away with. cops couldn catch people as they would be able to hover above them and just sneek away.

  • not really. these machines are too fragile to be of any use. Its not because they are being "covered up". But they arent very practical for everyday use

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about flying:

    (1) why do we love flying?

(2 ) what is the feeling of success if we fly by our own power?

    (3) How does a human powered aeroplane feel different from a engine jet?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • 1. the freedom

    2. that its done by ourself, thinking we like to fly since the beginning of time. And a human body is totaly not made to be airborne.

    3. if you get tired your in trouble. :P and it makes no noise. Adding to the freedom feeling...

  • @HanZie82 and its a good work out

  • stf up faggot ur asking retarded question thatsd doest need brainstorimg to understand unles ur a fugg faggot geek hippie bitch

  • C'est stressant de se dire "je m'arrête 2 secondes pour souffler, je suis mort..." ici tu as pas le choix de pomper none-top!

  • Well we have hanggliders that are basicly powere by wind but this thing is also a little powered by wind, so just take a hangglider put a propeler on it and pedal, since they can fly without propeler now, add a propeler lauch from hights and keep fling

  • there is definitely undiscovered human powered free flighr machines to be designed, we just haven't figured it out properly.

  • whats wrong with the boat directly below

  • I WANT ONE!

  • i'm almost certain that we can make efficient human powered aircraft but we just haven't figured out the proper technique

  • My mom can't even park her car on an abandonded parking lot... so we still have quite a way to go!

  • And you bring up a good point, where are we going to park all these things? For human powered flight it would need a very large wingspan, we would have to have a hybrid of pedal power and machine power.

  • im pretty sure not just anyone could get one of these to fly very long, if at all lol.. Would be one hell of a time to get a leg cramp 'ey...

  • hmmm where is navigation system. ??

No but serioiusly. That dude who propels it must be very atletic etc.

  • Lol comments are good

  • Please let me get the plans for this so I can build my own.

  • were is the flight attendant? lol

  • hmm? wheres my peanuts? lol

  • hmm do u need visa when u travel like this form country to country?:)

  • cool
