  • im not a person who has trotters or pacers but i ride my horses on the rodes around the barn to give then exersize, it actually helps horses, like impact traing for us. It helps strenthen horses, idon't think its smart to ride on rodes after rain then its really liable to have a horse slip if its going fast, like running down a stree with smooth soled or flat soled shoes.

  • atleast do it in the grass bro

  • I'm guessing all the negative commenters have never had a trotter or harness horse? Or ever dared riding on the roads at all from some of the comments posted!

Trotters are bred for this, any driving horse will be worked into the driving and their legs become like rock, absorbs all shock of the impact. What the horse did was called 'breaking' where the legs go to fast for the horse to keep up so they 'break' into canter then slow down into trot and carry on, it's normal and won't hurt the horse.

  • That must be horrible on a horses hooves...never trot, canter, etc on pavement as it's not only harmful on the horse, it's dangerous because the horse can slip easily...especially if it has shoes on.

  • @Kitsunegirl1212 trotting is incredibly beneficial to horses on the road stregthens legs and in turn the muscles above the legs. Many famous riders use it to strengthen their international competition horses. Any normal horse rider would know that, a jog on the roads or just going for an uphill trot is the best way to fitten a horse and is used by everyone from happy hackers to eventers!

  • @xXeMokiDXxMCRXx Though, if they have shoes on that can be extremely dangerous. EVERY good horse person should know that. It can be slippery for the horse.

  • @Kitsunegirl1212 road studs and traction shoes, any good horseman knows that

  • =[

  • I saw a race yesterday morning on A33 bypass just south of reading, absolute class they blocked both lanes of traffic while they went tearing up the road with the cars all backing up behind.I love the attitude SCREW YOU LOT we are having our race...NICE1

  • Grand race! I'm assuming none of the negative commentors have never taken their horses on a road other than to walk? What about the London cab horses in their days? They had to deal with much more than a simple road race. Surely all good horse lovers/knowers know if a horse didnt want to do it, they wouldn't??

  • im aussie of irish heritage ive been around horses all my life. why would a man work a horse on a road sick fuck think about its legs

  • @michaelscanlan19 their gyppos, thats what they do ffs
