Can't believe that people are still complaining and whining about the AMD driver problems they had 8 years ago. Times has changed. AMD's drivers today are just as good as nVidia's.
I'd go with nVidia anytime, AMD/ATI has issues with drivers, BSOD everyone?! when they learn that software is just as important as hardware, they can beat nVidia, until then, I happily pay the extra $50-$150 for nVidia and be sure that the video card doesn't brick or slow my system

Funny how he didnt overclock the 590(must be that "fail safe" or so they call it) the 6990 drew much less wattage even at overclock, and that mild overclock made a MASSIVE difference(especially in that tessellation benchmark) so bassically that would be all you have to do if you running at extreme settings and want more FPS, n you wont even be drawing any more watts if you do, shit you could probably go 900 or more Mhz and beat out the 590.

I use nvidia's 3d glasses on an asus monitor. i thought it was gonna pop out of the screen and was surprised when i first seen my game in 3d. still cool. but not for every one.
i love both AMD and Nvidia however i am a more frenquent user of AMD products i also love the many features they offer with their products all thats going for Nvidia is PhysX unfortunately their is not currently many games supporting this. This was before AMD released the new drivers (1.7-1.8). Increasing the performance of the 5xxx/6xxx cards on tessellation and AA by 10 - 20%. Regardless both cards are great and i personally own ATI cards on all my gaming rigs. All about personal preference.
I got to say that this video shows one thing to me. Both cards are great but it's your personal preference thats going to decide what you buy. I personally like AMD.

It's a shame that Nvidia scaled back the clock speeds on a lot of the GTX 580's and all the GTX 590's, if they didn't they could pound cheaper Radeon's into the ground.
Clock Speeds:
GTX 590 classified(limited overclocking) - 630Mhz
GTX580 Xtreme - 800-832Mhz (highest overclocked card I found in 580 line)
GTX560 Tri - 830Mhz
HD6990 - 830-880Mhz
HD6970 - 880Mhz
Obviously other things to consider between the cards fill rate,cuda cores/steamers, shaders ect. Seems the 6970 and 560 are top atm.
it isnt that high, my pc only costed (with 23" LED ASUS SCREEN) 1500€ = thats ~2200$, and because AMD its better and kicks ass off intel, its better amd... You can say everything you want (dont discuse this) but i hav'd amd's and intel's and AMD kicks ass off... And i dont gonna buy any pc at least in 5 years... Hmmm, the weird thing is that on LinusTechTips, GTX 590 owned the 6990 in power consumption, min/avg/max fps in BF:BC 2, Crysis 2, Lost Planet 2 and only lost in Metro 2033 and here it gets it's two GPUs (at least in terms of power consumption) like, smoked. Again, weird.
@ManInteractive Linus is using video games for his benchmarks while Newegg uses what people call "canned" benchmarking. Canned benchmarking isn't accurate to how the graphics card will perform during actual gameplay. Plus, this is an overclocked GTX 590 so it'll use a lot more power than stock..

I was looking at these 2 cards and i decided to go with GTX 590. I was leaning toward the 6990 at first but 590 seems like the better deal. better driver and what not. and beside, you can't even over clock the 6990 much. the 590 you can over clock all you want. GTX 590 WINS! EZ PZ

@AlleMannen121 you gave a very GENERAL question. what resolution do you want to run the games at? are you running them at max eye candy settings ( the settings in the ingame menus), what frames per second in combination with the other two questions? These three things matter depending on your needs versus the video card that is right for you. I will assume you're not caring about budget. if you dont want multiple cards deal with. 590 will yield better performance for your needs in light of it's tesselation and that they finally released the damn dx 11 patch. if you dont mind having 2 physical video cards, 2 or 3 gtx 580's will yield the best performance period. 4 gtx 580's is a waste.

I use nvidia's 3d glasses on an asus monitor. i thought it was gonna pop out of the screen and was surprised when i first seen my game in 3d. still cool. but not for every one.

i love both AMD and Nvidia however i am a more frenquent user of AMD products i also love the many features they offer with their products all thats going for Nvidia is PhysX unfortunately their is not currently many games supporting this. Thats mostly why i favor AMD i find it funny how AMD has gotten a bigger grip of the gpu market over Nvidia who soley makes gpus and nothing else. But if Nvidia is willing to give up on this Fermi shit i would change....But only maybe!

This was before AMD released the new drivers (1.7-1.8). Increasing the performance of the 5xxx/6xxx cards on tessellation and AA by 10 - 20%. Regardless both cards are great and i personally own ATI cards on all my gaming rigs. All about personal preference.

It's a shame that Nvidia scaled back the clock speeds on a lot of the GTX 580's and all the GTX 590's, if they didn't they could pound cheaper Radeon's into the ground.
Clock Speeds:
GTX 590 classified(limited overclocking) - 630Mhz
GTX580 Xtreme - 800-832Mhz (highest overclocked card I found in 580 line)
GTX560 Tri - 830Mhz
HD6990 - 830-880Mhz
HD6970 - 880Mhz
Obviously other things to consider between the cards fill rate,cuda cores/steamers, shaders ect. Seems the 6970 and 560 are top atm.

Hmmm, the weird thing is that on LinusTechTips, GTX 590 owned the 6990 in power consumption, min/avg/max fps in BF:BC 2, Crysis 2, Lost Planet 2 and only lost in Metro 2033 and here it gets it's two GPUs (at least in terms of power consumption) like, smoked. Again, weird.

@ManInteractive Linus is using video games for his benchmarks while Newegg uses what people call "canned" benchmarking. Canned benchmarking isn't accurate to how the graphics card will perform during actual gameplay. Plus, this is an overclocked GTX 590 so it'll use a lot more power than stock..

These three things matter depending on your needs versus the video card that is right for you. I will assume you're not caring about budget. if you dont want multiple cards deal with. 590 will yield better performance for your needs in light of it's tesselation and that they finally released the damn dx 11 patch. if you dont mind having 2 physical video cards, 2 or 3 gtx 580's will yield the best performance period. 4 gtx 580's is a waste.
