The original Rin-Tin-Tin (not the one in the TV series) was owned by WK Kellogg. My deceased mother-in-law's father worked closely with Kellogg in the 1920s when she was a little girl and sometimes took her over to Kellogg's house. She remembers playing with Rin-Tin-Tin. I always thought that was so cool.
@Lisica2008 ...i'm reading Susan Orleans book about Rin TIn Tin. She says a guy named Lee found and raised, trained and exploited the dog. Are we thinking about the same Rin Tin Tin, born in France?
@rerite2 You're correct! A week or so later after I wrote my message below, I did a little research. It would seem (I can't verfiy it) that WK Kellogg probably got one of Rin Tin Tin's offspring, not Rin Tin Tin himself. I apologize--I didn't mean to spread disinformation! I also called my ex-husband to tell him to stop telling the tale at family gatherings, and to express my disappointment.
I remember as a very little kid going to grandmas (she was the one with the TV) and my favorite show was Rin Tin Tin--I remember one episode when Lt Rip Lamasters sing "Ride out you men of Fort Apache". Why isn't the TV show on CD or Tape ? I cannot even find very many clips here on you tube. If anyone knows I would like to know.
Oh boy, this link suddenly made me real depressed. So there are folks who remember. I'm so sorry grandpa Rey...that ole wagon shoulda gone to the Hollywood Museum-whenever it might've been built...but instead, a 2009 4-alarm took out the garage you built and everything that remained of your property mastering days at Columbia Ranch. So this is my public apology. But you and that cast were all real good folks who loved what they all did...and half of the Rin Tin Tin wagon survived the fire /; RL

@animal90sFreak5 And, believe it, or, not, Rin Tin Tin served in WWII.. I suggest a really good book, called, 'WONDER DOGS', by Jordan Taylor; all about the German Shepherds that acted in films, since the silent days.. And, even on tv.. Remember 'THE LITTLEST HOBO'..?

In the original ABC broadcasts, there was "space" during the first 10 seconds for an announcer to declare [with a sponsor logo and product on screen], "NABISCO...makers of the 'Original' Shredded Wheat, presents...'THE ADVENTURES OF RIN-TIN-TIN'[".
Thank you, Liscia2008. Interesting history.

In the 70's the Rin Tin TIn re runs were very popular among children in Latin America. I wonder if it was played in other countries in the 70´s?
