Was this really recorded without Dave Dee? I had it different in mind and think his voice is to be heard here as well? My memory says this song was published around the time of Don Juan and Mrs. Thursday.
I think it is the best of them. It was just ater Dave Dee left the band and people thought they won't be as succesfull as they had been till then. And the four came with this great song and proved differently. Pitty however they did not last for very long... Good choise!
This song and performance should have established DBM&T as a great and original force in their own right. It sounds so fresh and exciting forty years later.
I remember buying this single on the Fontana label and another called snake in the grass and thinking geez, they are doin it tough without dave- its a bit like the 2 albums, the doors brought out after Jim died, good music, but what can you say!!!!!

WE love your dad too! Of course you probably already know that...lol. I love this song. Love Dozy's deep bass vocals and your dad and Tich's high tenors. This song took me by surprise when I first heard it, grabbed me instantly and IT AIN'T LETTING GO! Ha ha ha. They almost sound like a version of Badfinger in this line up.
Huiboki - You are so right. I bought this when it came out in 1969 and it's one of the best singles ever. All the different singing going on at the same time. It was so original and I still haven't heard anything like it.
I agree. I also bought this single when it first came out, but it took me several years to figure out why I liked it so much. Brilliant indeed, and meaningful lyrics too.
This was a song I heard like, oh, twice in 1970 and was still haunting me 42 years later. I finally found it!

Yeah .didn't know this was without Dave Dee,......thisis brilliant pop.

@Topographer onfortunaly it was not a big hit , in Netherland it hits the top 3 , but in other countrys it didnt charts
i also agreed it s a very good song , three different sounds and a very good sound .
that s reality , you have songs that scored at that moment , because it s the right time and a few years later , you found that song bad ,
