the fatigues make such a huge difference , my high school PE teacher was a corpsmen for 4 weeks he made us swim 2kms in regular swimwear then after that he made us do the 2kms in old 70s rugby shirts and shorts was insane but insanely fun

Anyone who likes this kind of prgramme will also enjoy the YT video 'Royal Marines Behind the Lines'. It follows a group of Royal Marine Commandos as they attempt to be selected for the elite Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre. It's in seven parts so very long, but well worth watching for those with a serious interest in Special Forces/Special Operations units.

The reason why the military has a lot of branches and units is primarily because they find a purpose for each unit. I agree with @STSBravoAirsoft that there is no "better" unit because each unit has a purpose. If there is one, then why do we need the other units?Wouldn't it be redundant? only reason why you see so many failures in the pool is because for recon there is no long a physical screening test. a lot of guys go in without a lot of water experience

What the fuck are you people talking about it? US Army Rangers train at Fort Benning, Georgia, as well as Florida. The 75th Ranger Regiment is a unit within SOCOM, that's Special Forces. Marine Force Recon is a Special Forces CAPABLE unit. Recon Marines may attend Ranger School, or other special schools. They both have different purposes. There is no "better" unit, they do their job better than anyone else in their respective branches.

@JayNoolo Delta is Special Forces. Rangers are not, although the 75th Rangers are part of USSOCOM, and are Special Operations. Delta is actually the shortened form of 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-D. D is Delta in the phonetic alphabet. Delta is along the same lines of DEVGRU, more commonly known as SEAL Team 6, and are definitely Special Forces.
@Dowzer83 You're incorrect. ACE/CAD (Formerly known as DELTA) is a Tier 1 unit along with DEVGRU they are not considered "Special Forces". Tier 2 Units are Navy SEALS, Air Force PJS and CCTS, Marine Force RECON, and Army Green Berets (Only Special Forces Unit). All the rest are Tier 3. All Tier 2 Units are Special Operations Units except noted and Navy SEALS they are Special Warfare. The highest you can go is the CIA Special Activities Division (SAD/SOG) they recruit from Tier 1.
@MrMAlosangeles rangers are considered tier 2 and usaf pj/cct usually work with tier one. The 24th special tactics squadron of the USAF is considered tier one black operations
@Eirik36 teir designation have little to do with the capabilities of the operators them selves or their takings the teir system indicates the level of dedicated support assets that the unit receives Such as ISR comms and helo support etc. Purely going off teir qualifications. The SAS are like teir three due to there support assets however they do have access to additional assets to make them scalable to tier 1
@MrMAlosangeles I'm not trying to be a smartass but marine force recon is not a special operations unit, and is grouped with battalion recon. The unit you're probably thinking of is Marsoc, whose mos are 0372 instead of 032x like a recon marine's.

It follows a group of Royal Marine Commandos as they attempt to be selected for the elite Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre. It's in seven parts so very long, but well worth watching for those with a serious interest in Special Forces/Special Operations units.

The reason why the military has a lot of branches and units is primarily because they find a purpose for each unit. I agree with @STSBravoAirsoft that there is no "better" unit because each unit has a purpose. If there is one, then why do we need the other units?Wouldn't it be redundant? Let us not compare the units, because when the need arises, they will hear the call of duty. They're there, keeping the world safe and making it a better place. So let's just not argue. They're doing their job

What the fuck are you people talking about it? US Army Rangers train at Fort Benning, Georgia, as well as Florida. The 75th Ranger Regiment is a unit within SOCOM, that's Special Forces. Marine Force Recon is a Special Forces CAPABLE unit. Recon Marines may attend Ranger School, or other special schools. They both have different purposes. There is no "better" unit, they do their job better than anyone else in their respective branches.

You can say Marines are better than anyone else just because they're Marines. You can say that, but not prove it. I know there is no comparing Recon and Rangers, but if they had the same mission, I'd think Rangers would be better. Being a Marine doesn't mean you're better than anyone else.

@combatswimmer1 I don't think basic Army infantry is better than an 0300 Marine, if they aren't equal, then I'd think the Marines are actually "better". Marines that don't have combat roles may or may not be that good, but infantry Marines are definately kick ass. They can't compare to Special Forces like the Special Forces, Rangers, SEALs, Delta, etc etc, but they do their job god damn good. 0330 probably would kick an 11b's ass, though.

@JayNoolo Delta is Special Forces. Rangers are not, although the 75th Rangers are part of USSOCOM, and are Special Operations. Delta is actually the shortened form of 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-D. D is Delta in the phonetic alphabet. Delta is along the same lines of DEVGRU, more commonly known as SEAL Team 6, and are definitely Special Forces.

@Dowzer83 You're incorrect. ACE/CAD (Formerly known as DELTA) is a Tier 1 unit along with DEVGRU they are not considered "Special Forces". Tier 2 Units are Navy SEALS, Air Force PJS and CCTS, Marine Force RECON, and Army Green Berets (Only Special Forces Unit). All the rest are Tier 3. All Tier 2 Units are Special Operations Units except noted and Navy SEALS they are Special Warfare. The highest you can go is the CIA Special Activities Division (SAD/SOG) they recruit from Tier 1.

@Eirik36 teir designation have little to do with the capabilities of the operators them selves or their takings the teir system indicates the level of dedicated support assets that the unit receives Such as ISR comms and helo support etc. Purely going off teir qualifications. The SAS are like teir three due to there support assets however they do have access to additional assets to make them scalable to tier 1
