  • When It Started I Got Scared...

  • Give Us Peace :-)

  • Even a rocker like me loves this...

  • Music that rejuvinates your soul

  • Rest in peace, Maestro Shaw...

  • i saw in 1964 this mass with the Robert Shaw choral , i was 15 years then.

  • Grant us peace.

  • Heavenly....I just sang this in my Region Choir; it was stunning. This piece is absolutely beautiful.

  • Happy Birthday Johann Sebastian Bach.Your music will live forever.

  • This is one great choral Double Fugue!

  • Maravilhoso (from Brazil)

  • man this was an audition piece at districts and i messed up the beat near the end XD

  • Very nice. At first I didn't like the initial tempo; I thought it was too fast. However; I stand corrected. Wonderful. Thanks.

  • My choir teacher is named Terry Shaw!!!!!! lol

  • You just can't beat Bach fugues for the ultimate representation of both unity and diversity. Simply untopable, to my ear and sensibilities.

  • @goldivox50 : Agreed. Bach is an excellent composer for fugues (possibly the only human capable of composing great fugues). Handel comes a close 2nd, there's just something missing in his fugues.

  • Yes, and if any work rises to the level of greatness, this final chorus of Bach's Bm mass is IT.

  • Chamber Chorus! Must be a big chamber! I'd much prefer listening to this, however, than those poverty stricken one voice to a part efforts. There's opulence here but I always feel there's almost an unintentional effect of anger from these large choruses in the sound they produce, especially from the basses who always seem to produce a roar when in such numbers.

  • The B Minor Mass is amazing to sing. I sang it yesterday and it's awesome. I came home after the concert on a huge adrenaline high!

  • Je suis toujours autant ému d'entendre ce chant.

  • @baroketmoi Ceci n'est pas un chant.

  • I put the first Dona Nobis b minor mass I found on my favorites, and halfway through I realized it was FAR too slow. Almost baroquely slow.

I made that word up lol

Anyways, this conduction is beautifully astounding. Ive looked over most of the recordings now, and this is my favorite!! Truly a delight to hear it done to its upmost beauty and splendor. Bravo molto Robert Shaw!!

Idk if that even made sense....

This is gorgeous. Bravissimo! 2 thumbs way up!

  • I want this sung at my funeral - in full voice!!

  • @hansjuergen1000 it's definitely an idea. The ASO closed out their memorial service to Shaw with this piece.

  • @hansjuergen1000 So do I.

  • excellent performance of one of the greatest pieces ever.

  • Good god!

  • ..the Chant of Heavens on Earth......

  • What a great performance. Only Shaw could pull it off. What a great choir!

  • I totally agree

  • In a performance of a quality equal to the quality of the composition [as with anything Robert Shaw did] the "Dona Nobis Pacem" may be the most fitting, grandest, climax to any musical work of any period; perhaps, to ANY artistic work whatsoever. But then, I am prejudiced.

  • No, you're not biased. You just know greatness when you hear it!
