He has every right to his opinion, and if you think you wouldn't be able to find a few hundred million Chinese who would say the same kind of thing about people of other nationalities, particularly "Westerners", you're kidding yourselves.
Ahh yes, what a bright young lad indeed... 1. Generalising an entire country to a couple of personal experiences 2. to the public 3. without a reason.
Are brains are far more vast than your typical education package and I think this boy has gone to show that along with many other racist idiots.
individual mind knows the optimal place of survival only if it functions in its full potential (like in this kid); all others are in illusion: but hey that's not something to feel down, but be grateful for maintaining stability at that level.
its simply a form self-loathing. many children of immigrants tend to adopt and even espouse the negativity of their non-immigrant peers in a vain effort to fit in.
He's not being in any way serious. He probably thinks it's funny. Some people with AS have an unusual sense of humour, often very negative, harsh and lacking in empathy. This is a typical example.
From the point of view of an animal rights and human rights perspective, he has a valid point. Any culture where it is standard to take a live seal into a market and hack pieces off it over the course of a morning whilst it is fully conscious, is one for which I have nothing but disgust. It even says in the Koran and the Old Testament that the animal must be killed before being cut up, and yet the Chinese still remain in the barbaric old days of thousands of years ago.
errr...... he was joking. its just his humour is lost on us. You probably raise a valid point, but to say that they should be obliterated is nothing short of Fascism!
I have a feeling a person with asperger probably wouldn't be saying something like that! Unless they were trying to pull of a joke, that really got lost on the recipient!
I'm sure he has AS-later in the programme he rocks when stressed. He's also obsessed with chess. The joke shows a lack of empathy and common sense, which (with respect) is common to some people with AS. His high IQ is also a likely indicator. But no I don't think he is a typical AS sufferer-who is? It's a spectrum and everyone on it is different.
Hey are you at Trinity? I agree he's a brilliant mathematician, chess player, debater. What do people think of him generally- does he get on OK with people who live near him in college?
Hello people! This guy has Asperger's syndrome-a form of autism. In this documentary he's at a training camp for the International Maths Olympiad, so he IS a scholar, it's just that his social interaction and general outlook on life is quite different from most people's. I think people should respect the fact that he's socially disabled in a way but still very bright, try to ignore his outlandish comments, and be more tolerant of difference.
to the people making angry comments: don't be so quick to anger. if you read through the comments of that video you'll find that it's part of a documentary. that person has a disease and it wasn't helped by events which have happened to him in his life.
everything happens for a reason. very few people are complete assholes.
This has nothing to do with the video. The point is that this kid has Asperger's syndrome, and his comment is outlandish because of it. He has a limited perception of what is socially appropriate, but is not retarded-far from it. His comment is not made because he is a rascist, but because he feels anger towards the Chinese, because is an angry young man, as are many young men with Asperger's.
No-he is referring to all Chinese people. The extreme negativity in his statement reveals a frustration and anger within him, which is caused by his Asperger's syndrome.
I think the context is that he is referring to the success of the chinese team in the olympiad, who achieved 5 gold medals. He had trouble expressing this in an 'acceptable' joking manner.
He may be naive, but it is clear if you watch the entire documentary that he has asperger's syndrome, like Jos and Daniel. I think his intellect should be admired, and after all, he is the person he is because of rejection from unsympathetic people!
tis unfortunately true, i went to the same school as him and he was picked on quite a bit by idiots who just thought he was a freak. he's a really lovely guy!
think so, not exactly sure what the course is but 100% sure it's maths based. no idea, we all kinda guessed it was something but knew he was a dude despite what he might have =)

hello! I am autistic. I am nothing like the above character. Just search Aspergers or Autism in youtube. We are just ordinary people.
If you still haven't figured out that autistic people are pretty awesome, then sir, you are more of a Nazi than him!
