Yeah i just graduated from RPI in '09. If you're a beer guzzling partier, join a frat. If not, join clubs (i was the latter), either way there's plenty of things to do. These are the people that think RPI sucks:

1) People that think everything sucks that doesn't involve beer pong

2) People that didn't want to put in the work required of them

3) People that assumed that nothing was going on even though there was

I recommend joining an Ice hockey team even if you've never done it before

RPI is a very good school. The kids that do complain are the ones that have all the wrong reasons in going here. Many of them use this as an excuse because they can't or do not want to put forth the effort in academia.

I just graduated from RPI in 2009 with BS and continuing here for my PhD. The education is top notch but social life is a bit low then your state school. It is still a 4:1 ratio of boys to girls. Troy is not much of a happenin' city either. There are tons of clubs tho.

well i go to rpi and the ratio evens out because the amount of guys who don't socialize are very high. There are guys who just spend 24/7 playing video games and on their laptops.

RPI sucks financially, socially, and culturally. Its fantastic academically, though. If you can afford it without falling in debt to a huge extent, then go for it. And its not all bad, we have a subconnection afterall!

rpi only sucks if you let it, make the best of it and dont complain. If you get involved in a fraternity or any type of social group/activity then you tend to find shit to do. The girl to guy ratio does suck but when your in a fraternity or go to a fraternity party it does not matter as we control who comes into the party. If you cant get in then that sux for you

I got to RPI. It sucks if you are an antisocial nerd who refuses to relate to anyone and that decides to hole themselves up in their dorms playing WoW, Spore, or CS:Source in between IEA tests. So, basically, its just a place full of kids who will hate anywhere that they go. lol

Rather than consider yourself fortunate to be able to attend a top rate university (graduate with a good GPA, employers and grad schools will eagerly greet you), you whine like children that "it's not fun." You guys typify the lazy, immature American lifestyle that has been, and continues to, facilitate the influx of foreign students who out-perform Americans in most (if not all) academic areas! this video only makes rpi look better for those interested in a good education. any college where you can say its "fun" obviously isnt rigorous enough.. paying 40 grand a year, yeah you will have a shitload of work and no time for fun cuz you get what you pay for. if you paid 20 grand a year, then you wont have as much work.
