@professorxox - People who are doing their own tinting at home can just leave the tint on the outside rear window, peel the film off while it's there, then bring it to the inside of the car. Problem solved.... no mounting glass/window needed.
I ordered the pre-cut film from ebay. will it be necessary to "heat shrink" it. and if yes, do i wet the film, place it on the outside, smooth it out, peel it, and stick it on the inside? is that the basic process? PLEASE REPLY.

would a hair dryer work if u don't have a heat gun?
hum92 6 months ago
@hum92
probably not. I don't think a hair dryer gets hot enough.

220 bucks for a shop to tint your windows, i guess its worth it to have a pro do it for you, looks like a pain in the ass foreal.

If you're good you can just skip the final wet shrink and stick the film in the car.

I do not understand what he is doing ! the solarfilm is going to be placed indside and not outside..

@Z3mk0
you shrink the film to form to the shape of the glass, then install it on the inside
dcherrero 6 months ago
don't ever try this. its suck during winter. try it if you don't believe, i think it's better if you tint your back window inside.

@Mengo599
the film is still installed on the inside.

but as long as i dont concentrate the heat too much in one spot, it should be okay right?
jasonlm808 1 year ago
thank u, does this same rule apply to tinting windshields, i was gonna do mine and have been watching this over and over.....
jasonlm808 1 year ago
@jasonlm808
never did the whole windshield, but the same should apply.
be careful with the heat gun, since the windshield has a laminate in-between 2 sheets of glass

One question, when ur heat shrinking it, do u have the tint liner side up or down?
jasonlm808 1 year ago
@jasonlm808
Liner up.

Now I just realized how those bad tint jobs are done. This tint will now leave wavy pockets of water and will be optically incorrect.
