oh my lord jesus, my mother has been playing the mandolin for 20 years, and her mandolin is beautiful. I picked it up one day and i was pretty good. My mom played it in church quire and she switched to guitar. Today we don't have a mandolin so she asked me to play. I finally learned all the songs(: but my fingers hurt for quite a while. They're starting to get better though, so don't loose hope(: wish me good luck for tonight(:
Hey, thanks for posting this on here, its really good. I just got a mandolin for my birthday and I love it. your video was very informative. Just wondering why you insist on playing the 9th of the scale?
I just bought a mandolin - have no idea how to play but your videos are really helpful. I will keep checking and hopefully after an year I will be able to play! Thanks!
me too dude!...check out bradybraitz...this guy can sent you tabs of great mandolin songs...it has a lot of uploads...search for "Agii fanentes" or "pelagia's song"!!! awesome!!!
@honyden what do you mean it hurts ? i'm thinking to learn mandolin because i've heard its the esiest of all. i know steel string guitar heurts the finger ,is the mandolin also heurts ? is it easy or hard or super hard ? any suggestion of other instrument ?
@issamworld i wouldn't call it the easiest to learn, i only picked it up quickly because i've been playing the guitar for years and it kind of came naturally, although i'm still getting used to the different scales and chords. i found the ukulele to be the easiest instrument to learn
Mike, I think you're doing a good job here. I posted a video response that might help a couple of people with some more major scale detail. Keep up the good work! ...Brad Laird
I think people should stop complaining... if you don't think you need the last note... then don't play it. I think it is so helpful. Thanks for takin time out to show us this stuff.
Yes, imo it needs to be practiced 'cause you may use this in some good musics, so just practice and when you really need you will know how to use this!
yeah the last note wasnt needed. You went through 2 octaves the second one started on the open A string ... but good job i couldnt find the scale shapes anywhere! :)
I like this guy! He sounds abut self-consious though.

madfortrad5958 4 years ago
That high B note IS an A Major Scale note... so that's cool! Just reaching into the third octave.
