Man, I dunno. The strings are nice, yes, but in no way carry the subtleties and nuances of the solo piano - it's just too loud and over-romanticised, and complicates and thickens what should be just a simple piece - it says in the sheet music 'semplice'! When he plays this on his own he becomes one with the music and the piano bears his soul, but with all the strings he has to compromise on this to accommodate them. This is why I prefer the original albums to the latest stuff...

My favourite piece! I was very late to this concert but thank God I arrived as soon as this piece started to play. It is my favourite ever of Einaudi, I listen to it every night when I go to sleep and wow, how wonderful I feel waking up to it... pure peace... I love this man so very much. Thank you for this video.
