  • Why is there water condensing on the floating piece?

  • O.o gold o.O :P

  • seems to create four magnet in the center of something like the magnetic well. otherwise it is impossible - Earnshaw's theorem

  • Magnets. How do they work? ☺

  • he just copied nerd rage

  • think back to the future hover boards ...make a hoverboard...seriously..

male a room wiyh that on the floor and a board and you could have the vack to the future 2 ride at disneyland..hahahaheee..

brill vid though..check teslas work out..the coil can levitate...and create free energy...no bull

  • it's graphite, it levitates?

  • electronic engineer at work! ESD carbon tweezers...

  • so the force is push upward only? will there be a force pushing downward, as well?

  • y dont u grad it with ur hands/fingers?

  • whenever i try to do it with magnets, i have to tape one to the ground and tape the other one on top of it. then i get it to levitate. otherwise it just turns around and stick to the bottom one :(

  • it is a cool thing to do making magnets float but all u did was put 4 magnets on the side of eachother and it fights for eatch side and makes it float

  • Simple as it seems...

he does not touch it cause the plate is cooled down.

5 mins later without recooling it would not work again :-]

  • @karman94131 depends on how your brain works

  • @karman94131 some metals are charged with Protons, which are positively charged particles. Some metals are charged with Electrons, which are negatively charged particles. So in this video, the magnet may be positive, maybe negative. Unlike charges attract, like charges repel... so most likely, these magnets are or the same charge.

  • Looking at those 4 magnet cubes actually made me hungry.

  • are the poles in a checkered pattern?

    N S

    S N

    ?

  • thats not antigrav.. its just magnets.. (Mythbusters)

  • @AudunBarsk this is the same common mistaken concept people seem to have. Let me clear this up. Earth=giant magnet. Using other magnets=ANTIGRAVITY. MAGNETISM IS ANTIGRAVITY!

  • @LiquidChem Thats not what they said on mythbusters, they tested it throughly and proved its not "ANTIGRAVITY"

  • @LiquidChem

Magnetism isn't antigravity, antigravity is antigravity.

Its true that earth has very strong magnetic field, but a device or object that could utilize the field to levitate wouldn't actually be negating/repelling earth's gravity, just canceling out its effect on the object using another force.

  • @Xanjrod exactly. thats what i meant, but you must manipulate the magnetic field, antigravity happens because of manipulating magnetism, ie electromagnetism, ie all of existence, so anything that exists has magnetism, if you get the correct level. everything is energy. Audensbarsk is right.

  • @Xanjrod Love what you said it might be thruth

  • This same polarities ??

  • magnets- gods way of effing with our minds.

  • @bigman32193 Gods. Society's way of fucking with scientists.

  • I wish Pyrolytic Graphite weren't so freaking expensive. It's $55 for a 2"x2" square. INSANE.

  • KJ magnetics

     Search it

  • Uhh, yeah. That's where it's $55 for a 2"x2" square.

  • LOL... you guys should start a pyrolytic graphite appreciation club. It would be something to talk about on those cold winter nights.

  • you can make your own by using a very small amount of glue and mechanical pencil lead, glue them together.

  • it is graphite

  • All i can say is wow to the comments bellow. The real scoop on this video is that little sqaure thing is pyrolytic graphite which likes to exclude the lines of magnetic force repelling the magnets and causing it to hover above them also the magnetic poles are switched with the face of each sqaure magnet so that the graphite does not just slide off.

  • This is not a superconductor. Neodymium magnets and Bismuth.

  • I liked wowlabs "the awesome levitating Train" better because they had bigger superconductors =P. Yet then again superconductors are hard to come by....

  • Thanks for the vid. I'm curious about something. I understand that your griphite is dimagnetic but in super-conducting demonstartions; I understand that the fluxtrap that is created is, in lemans terms, attracting and repelling at the same time, in-order for the Nibs to maintain a certain distance from the super conductor, regardless if it is suspended or levitated. Can you suspend your graphite under the four nibs you have?

    NullFlux8

  • Oh, and a material that can repel magnets and is *not* a superconductor is called a "Diamagnetic" material. Bismuth is a really cool metal that repels magnetic fields.

Materials that can trap cooper pairs and be attracted to magnetic fields are "Ferromagnetic".

Materials that can only have induced electrical fields and generate magnetic fields when electrical currents flow through them are "Paramagnetic".

See "Levitron" for a cool variation.

  • It's called the "Lenz" effect. The cube magnets squeeze the magnetic lines of flux into a column at the juncture of all 4. The little slab of material is trying to remain where the field is weakest, since any movement will induce an electrical current in it and the electrical current in turn generates a magnetic field of its own that repels the magnets field. The only place the little slab sees the least force is at that point just above the cubes.

  • cool now put it on a car!

  • dude please explain what are the principles

for that because I have a project at Phisics

  • The carbon granite (SMALL SQUARE) that he is using has tiny iron diametrical magnets in it and when those have four different magnetic forces (the 4 cube magnets) they repel the smaller carbon granite and attract it perfectly so it stays on top of the cubes and hovers slightly

  • thanks a lot :D it really helps

  • "has tiny iron diametrical "

    iron?

  • Not a superconductor, but the same basic phenom. The floating object is made of a fancy form of graphite which (like superconductors) takes on a weak opposite effect of any magnetic field. Lots of info about this effect online.

  • I think it is a superconductor, since superconductors repel all magnets, and he/she is not touching it but holding it with something, and superconductors must be cold.

  • how?????????????????????????????????????????

  • it is just magnets
