i thought the same as many of you....mike peters is no stuart adamson.....but saw them live at sheffield o2 on saturday night, and you're right, he is no stuart adamson, BUT he is MIKE PETERS...and i am fully converted, he is great on stage, they are still brilliant, and always will be ! the man is a massive big country and stuart fan and this totally shines through...long live BC and MP !!! i am a totally happy convert
I understand that these guys need to make a living, but it's shameless to play under the BC banner, it will never be Big Country without Stuart. R.I.P
i love big country,i grew up listenin to them, learned guitar cos of stuart and i'm proud to be a son of dunfermline, but this doesn't work for me-it proves that the big man was the force behind the band. don't get me wrong, jamie and bruce are doin a great job live, and mike is the only guy who comes close to doin stuart proud, but, unfortunately for me the songwriting is a bit weak. sorry guys-up the ante for the next song
@hiddenfire65 Are you kidding? He's actually picked up his game since Stuart's passing! I give kudos to Bruce! I'll admit I don't care for the "wo oh oh oh's" though.
Brilliant !! Sounds fantastic, its great to hear from Big Country again, far to great a group to disappear into the shadows. I think Mike Peters is doing a great job, sounds really good. Looking forward to more from the boys, got to see them next year when they're in Bristol !
i didnt like it. im not hating on the boys or anything... and i wish them well... but it just didnt sound like Big Country (except the guitar break). It sounded a little weak. i suspect im not a fan of the song rather than the band. maybe their new single shouldve been slightly heavier, slower or darker. They all need to go and listen to guitars in the mountains, and yeah, mike sounds like bono... and im not a u2 fan by any stretch so maybe thats part of it too.
So glad they are continuing! Mike is a fantastic singer, and he's been through Hell & back, but sounds like he's come out stronger for it! RIP, Stuart... Hope you are looking down, and approving of yer mates!
hope these guys make it to u.s. mike sounds more like bono than stuart, but band is all big country. cant replace stuart, impossible! this is really great though. like being 15 yrs old and hearing "fields" for the first time. very exciting. keep em coming guys. would like to see a lot more views too.
"they need to find a singer that sounds like Stuart"
No. They need someone who can do what Stuart did to the songs - put the same energy, passion and emotion into them. In tune and in the same key. And that's EXACTLY what Mike does.
And you won't notice the difference live - the crowd will be singing as loudly as the band...
First Alice in Chains, now Big Country. Glad to see two of my Top 10 Bands back and at the top of their game despite my initial objections to Alice's decision to go on. Rest easy, Stuart and Layne, for your legacies shall never die!
R.i.F. Stuart, but this is another Country now...and you'll be forever in my heart :-*
Kommt so schnell es geht nach Deutschland, pleeez, Zeche Bochum, da habe ich euch das erste Mal gesehen und da würde ich euch am allerliebsten wieder zum ersten Mal sehen und mich neu in euch verlieben ;-)
Cool video. This is what we are. No bling bling, no nonsense just sense and honesty. The train is leaving platform one and heading for Another Country. I like the song and as a first it's welcomed in our Big Country.
Its good to see the boys doing what they do best!! A lot of critics can stick their views up their ass!! Let the lads have fun!! Really think the boys miss Stuart and they feel close to him by doing this! Rock on!! R.I.P.Stuart Adamson x
@JollyJimmyJohnston I just bought Driving to Damascus, their last album with Stuart, and that along with this song has only whet my apetitie for more BC. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Stuart at some point and wish it was him in this video but I totally back Mike. I've gathered that he has mad respect for Stuart and think he does a fine job filling in for him.
Musically, lyrically and spiritually, this song is classic Big Country. It'll take a lot of getting used to a different vocalist, but I think Mike Peters voice works well on this song. He sings it with a soul and passion that would have made Stuart Adamson proud!
@dondi -Please don't suggest that Big Country do anything Journey ever did...Journey is everything that is wrong with rock...now they are all things wrong with rock with a Internet lead singer that parodies the awfulness that is Steve Perry. Steve Perry knows how bad he and Journey is so he has been kind to and has stayed retired.... BC did the right thing...bring a rock legend in the all the passion, knowledge, history, song writing ability and and love for this genre of music that Stewart had.
LOL!!!!!!!! I can't believe that someone who doesn't even know how Stuart spelled his name has the bottle to tell us what is right and wrong with anything.
Thanks for the laugh anyway, youtube brings great humour.
Good song but they need to find a singer that sounds like Stuart, Journey did it. This guy's voice makes Big Country sound like just another band, and I've been a fan of BIG COUNTRY from day one...
nah, he doesn't sound like Stuart or play guitar like him; that's what makes him perfect to pay 'respect' to him! Mike Peters has the same passion/energy/charisma as Stuart Adamson....he aint no replacement/ doesn't pretend to be....this isn't a copy of Big Country....it's a 'much needed' continuation of the best band ever; STUART ADAMSON will never be forgotten!
I like the song — glad to see the video. I also like how Ian or James wrote "Always remembering Stuart Adamson" in the description. Well done to all involved!
Loving it!. Some may think it stupid but hearing these talented guys again is like finding the missing link in your life. Many thanks to all who made it possible and good luck and happiness for the future.

Watson's guitar has not aged well, neither has Peters' overwrought style.

Finally a new Big Country song! And with the great Mike Peters (from The Alarm)!
Let Stuart Adamson be in peace but I think BC should go on this way!
Thanks, boys for this new great music ...

The start reminded me of something, and I couldn't think what, but then it struck me, it's 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'.
Good song though, although I'd like a bigger sounding production!
