  • We heard Jim reeves very often on radio Ceylon during late sixties and early seventies.we could never listen to him over BBC or voice of America.during this period we had a young group of American students visit Kerala. They came home for lunch and we played jimreeves on our turn table. They liked him,but it was the first time they came to know about this legend!

  • My dad listened to to Jim when I was a kid. I am 38 and my Dad has been gone for almost 15 years, but Jim is still the Man. His voice is so smooth he left way before his time too! Love His Music! Thank God For Jim!

  • This is one of my all time singers I new my hole life of 45 years.I never get sick of . There is no one like Jim reeves.

  • @lightweightslim-sorry brian, didn't know this was you lol

  • @frankie-Sorry but very very wrong. This song was written by H.G. Jim Carroll. I should know, he was my father. I remember when the contract came in very well. This was one of three Mr. Reeves recorded of my dad's music.

  • no one can touch this guy the best

  • Classic Reeves song, composed by Cindy Walker, with all the trappings of the Nashville sound. Sadly both Joe Jackson & Cindy Walker are also deceased..

  • what a voice. i grew up listening to him. he was my mothers favorite singer. i still listen to his music.

  • Wonderful opportunity to hear and see Jim, Leo, and Dean. Thank you for posting

  • Jim could have sang with me and it would have been great. I Can't sing but god he could.Jim no1 forever.

  • Talk about a class-act! Jim Reeves was truly a gentleman who was a professional in every sense of the word.

Most performers now days hold their audiences in contempt, are abrasive, rude, condescending, and horribly arrogant. The sad part is that audiences eat it such maltreatment. I'm not remotely smart enough to understand why.

  • @CEscates would have loved to seen him live what a voice

  • I LOVE JIM REEVES MUSIC!! :) X

  • THe greatest singer country ever had!

  • the greatest country music singer ever llived.i never tired listening all of his musics.

Had Jim lived a few more years....

  • the greatest country music singer ever llived

  • My sincere salute to those who are very concerned about sharing these gems with other like me outside the United States. Glad tidings from Sri Lanka!!

  • Absolute, utter perfection! Jim Reeves is greatly, greatly missed.

  • My Father Use To Have All Records Of Jim Reeves Which He Love To Hear In Many Many Years, Jim's The Greatest!!

  • Memories,memories.Sweet memories.

  • I would guess the ones who clicked on the don't like must be very sensitive people who can't understand Gentleman Jim's music....

  • why did the dislikes click onto gentle giant jim if they didnt like him

  • I sure remember this. great memories.

  • Eddies choice

  • So nice to see and hear , this is one of those songs that hang around a persons mind in tiny bits and pieces for decades, then all of a sudden paulo1 comes to the rescue, thank you very much.

  • Two minutes, 10 seconds. They didn't waste time back then!

  • negramDKbent look for the film Kimberly Jim you can see the great man acting and singing in living picture`s

  • Imagine how many souls on the planet who an identify themselves on this

    ed

    w w w eddy nu

  • by this is nice eh

  • Does anybody know why Jim changed the words on both verses on this live version compared to the recorded version maybe "lightweightslim" might be able to help

  • @Alabamaexpress Because my dad gave him permission to change the words. My dad was the one that wrote this, one of three that Mr. Reeves recorded of my dad's music. Mr. Reeves first recorded it the way my dad wrote it but thought the change made the song tighter so dad gave him permission.

  • My grandfather wrote this song :)

    pride...

  • A great version with terrific harmonizing.

  • Awesome Greatest Voice Ever!!

  • i'm sooo proud to see this video up...my grandfather wrote this song!!

  • @lightweightslim Why are you claiming that your grandfather wrote this?? I ask because my dad was the one that did write this. And we, the family, still have the contract from Jim Reeves to prove it. This is one of three that Mr. Reeves recorded of my dad's music.

  • Jim Reeves is the Real Deal. So is Leo Jackson, for that matter. Today's mass-produced and hyper-dubbed "music" comes nowhere near the heights attained by yesterday's greats.

  • How can 4 people not like this? This is REAL country music!

  • Nothing in this video but true talent. He was a true talent.

  • Jim's modesty is refreshing. So unassuming and authentic. He's preferable to the egotistical, in-your-face, and over-sexed performers now days.

  • Thank you for sharing the video. Jim must have one of the best voice in the whole world. Great performance!!

  • Jim Reeves was my dad 's favorite country singer.. as he was mine. Such a soft and tender voice.. He will always be sadly missed.Mike.....UK

    All The Stars

  • This is just tooooo cool!

  • Jim is the BEST! What a talent! What a voice! He easily entertain an audience WITHOUT fireworks, laser lights, and fog machines. You know how he was able to do that? He did it with a little thing called TALENT!

  • They harmonize so well ! Nice duet.

  • Will somebody tell me why we have a talent like Jim Reeves for only a short time? I don't get it.His voice was obviously God given. God gives and God takes away I guess.

  • Två ggr. samma kvinna men 36 år mellan!

  • Wonderful, wonderful voice! Jim was a wonderful singer!

  • I'm a HUGE Jim Reeves fan! Thank you to LaVerne37 for sharing it and to paulo1 for posting it!

  • BETTER 5*****S

  • ...jim's band-members were all good looking dudes...!

  • A great singer.I am die hard fan of JR.Collected almost 490 songs to his credit. Can anyone sing like him?no NEVER!!!

  • There will be no one like Jim Reeves. If you don't believe me, look this video. I have never seen living picture's jim, before I came on YouTube, and I will thanks everyone who put video's here and share them with us outside from US. Thanks again

  • @negramDKbent Well put i agree100%..

  • Very few singers of today have as much personality as the older ones did.

  • Totally agree!

  • I don't like Country music, but this guy is really good!

  • I am wondering if Leo Jackson ever recorded solo.

  • I've never heard, before or since, anyone with a voice like Jim Reeves.

    As Beantown Jim said :-

    "Real music WOW"

  • Thank god for you tube, I never thought I would here the music and see the singers like this ever again, brings back so many memories.

  • Jim is so great - plus I like the guy with the Ed Grimley (SCTV) haircut!!!

  • Good music.

  • just the best.

  • One good song with Jim R.

  • Too bad performers today don't have smiles such as these have as they perform. These people seem to enjoy entertaining whereas todays performers do not have that real appreciation of their audience.

  • real music wow

  • Soooo Wonderful! 5*

  • He was only human after all.We all have our failings.

  • Paulo1, I just wonder where you got this wonderful piece from. U may not appreciate how much good you have done to so many people. I guess you are nearly as wondeful as Jim was.

  • Leo Jackson and Jim combination gave us timeless classics.....!!!!!

  • Fantastic to see these clips on YouTube. Otherwise they would be lost to history.

  • anyone know what chords Jim is using for this song?

  • He does this version in A. (A, D, & E with an occasional B or Bm thrown in.)

  • my parents favourite. I miss you Dad..

  • A gift to the world of music from Panola County, TEXAS!!!! Heaven must be a beautiful place with you and Patsy Cline up there!!!

    A Proud Texan

  • I just read the news that Leo Passed away yesterday, another page in the Jim Reeves story is closed.

  • You heard correct, he was buried today (5/8/2008) in the same Hendersonville, TN cemetery as Johnny Cash and Merle Killgore.

  • I read a book recently that painted Jim as having a bad temper. Well, he was a perfectionist and that is not surprising. He was great.

    chuck

  • Jim was so great. I still enjoy his music.

  • They just don't make them from this cloth anymore. Jim Reeves was awesome!!

  • i like led zeppelin and the who , but jim was absolutely fantastic. i thoroughly reccommend the bear family 16 cd box set that includes everything he recorded. superb.

  • My dad has the box set and I was raised on those tunes from birth. I know a few of them...

  • simply the best singer of all time..

  • Jim Reeves never used a capo.

  • you´ve got to love gentleman-jim, there´s no way bout it. does anybody have "there´s a heartache following me" ?

  • What a voice!!! Lyrics to this song always worried me though. I mean the girl has given you the arse and you are waiting in the darkness to see her through her window. Today we would call that stalking!!! Don't shoot me I'm just taking the piss.

  • Lean out of the window, Golden-hair,

I hear you singing A merry air...

I have left my book, I have left my room

For I heard you singing Through the gloom,

Singing and singing A merry air,

Lean out of the window, Golden-hair.

    James Joyce

  • I remember the day Jim & Dean died in the plane crash...what a tragedy....but it's also nice to know that Jim's music will live forever..

  • Always remember my late father coming home from the pub on a Saturday during the seventies in Paisley & falling asleep on the couch listening to Jim Reeves. I hated it as a teenager, however given the passage of time I have def. changed my mind. Fantastic clip. Love the way Jim plays most of the time without a guitar strap! Timeless. Thanks for the memories.

  • I always love Jim Reeves. My mother's late boyfriend always liked him, and sometimes I almost cry when I hear him sing, because I miss my mother's boyfriend so much.

  • These two guys look like they are having a great time playing this song together.

  • Great musical backing - piano, guitars, and ofcourse Jim Reeves at his best as always- thank you

  • A great video of a great man. paulo1, you do good work!!

  • Nice to hear Jim's normal speaking voice. The piano accompaniment is great - love the way it builds in volume.

  • 55 years I have waited to see Jim, it was worth the wait!

  • Great voice and good song. Is the gentleman seated at the piano Dean Manuel, who also died in the tragic plane crash? I was fortunate to see Jim Reeves and the Blue Boys, plus Floyd Cramer and Chet Atkins in concert in the early 1960s. It remains one of my treasured musical memories.

  • Yes, that is Dean Manuel. Both he and Jim Reeves died on 31st July 1964.

  • Thank you for this superb video.Wonder if anyone knows the names of the musicians accompanying him. They are great and enhance every song of his.

  • Thanks so much. I've got a wonderful DVD of Jim Reeves, but this one is not on it!! He is my favorite of all Country Music artists, period. I've got 146 songs by him in collection, but I don't have videos. Thanks so much.

  • Simply superb !! Jim Reeves has been my most favourite singer for decades - with a voice which stands unsurpassed in its richness and smoothness. I loved this version of 'Stand at your window' in which Leo Jackson's voice stands out a little more than usual ! Thanks a lot for sharing.

  • RARE good stuff from Gentleman Jim. What year and TV appearance was this from?

Jim still rocks after all these years.
