@vitigs4 Brain can cope with minor retinal injuries. After all, the brain creates the image, the eye is just the camera.

The more you mess with your retinas, the harder it is for brain to stitch the image and make a full conscious view. And then one day, you see the consequences. So use all lasers while taking appropriate care.

Safety goggles? At almost any store that sells lasers. Especially the stores that are known for their lasers (wickedlasers, dragonlasers, etc.) and others.

@endimion17 As long as there is no DIRECT eye contact. You'll be fine. The sun reflects off surfaces at a much greater power than these lasers on a daily basis. We'd have to constantly be on the watch for reflections if this were the case.

@Thunderheart2186 Wrong. This is coherent, extremely intensive light ray. In your terms, you could fire a watt laser laser at the floor and look at the dot with no consequences. When using lasers with powers above 5 mW, reflections can be dangerous, and the danger increases with the power, no matter if it's fired at a diffuse surface. That's a rule.

@mikecdc97 i dont know very much about buring. this 50mw couldnt burn anything such as matchs or thin plastic. however if u wish to pop balloons easier draw a black dot on the balloon wish a sharpie and shine the laser at that.

@vitigs4 thanks! it worked, and then i tried to light a match, but it only smoked up, then i used the sharpie on he match, same outcome, then i used a magniying glass, and went in the dark so i can see the beam better, and i noticed a this spot on the beam, put the match on it, it worked, no sharpie

I have good notices for you.. Do you know that this lasers has pot? That means you can extract the module and just screwing the pot you can get like 80mW. This is called pot mod

a 50 mw laser will only burn ur skin if you point it at a freckle or some kind of dark mark for a few seconds. Other people can see the beam, but really only at night if there arent many other lights around u and they happen to look a just the spot

Did you seriously say "entertain your pets" in the description, a 50 mW laser will BLIND people. A direct hit, or a reflection from a 50 mW laser will BLIND you. I don't know about you, but I don't find blinding my dogs a very fun activity to try.

SHEIT! don't do that. You may not notice any damage now but that is something only a doctor might be able to determine. The damage might show up later in your life. PLEASE wear 532nm laser shades when doing things like this. You can get a good pair cheap price.

Someone that was specifically trying to harm an animal could do it with either one, they could also do it without one. For two whole seconds it could cause permanent blindness and at least blinding the eye you shot it at for like 5 minutes....I was being a dumbass and shone it at this stop sign and it reflected into my eye I was blind for like 20 seconds it was really scary...Just for a split second the laser hit my eye...

i havnt had any problems with it effecting my eyes while using it to point at objects, but yes im pretty sure its true that if you shine it in your eye it will most likely cause permanent damage, it may not blind you but its not worth the risk

it is very true, alotta crap about ir - but a laser is concentrated light (hence its a beam - does not spread out) looking at the spot on a wall is okay (for lower power) as the wall diffuses the reflection, but a mirror, photoframe, car so forth, are all pretty shiny, you were warned :)
