first step is the easiest thing youll ever do in your time as a royal marine fellas! on this exercise i got more sleep than i ever did on camp! and please.. are you seriously comparing the marines to the boy scouts? dear o dear
Remember: Commando basic training is 9 months long. That means they spend a lot more time drilling the basics than other military units. These basic skills are vital if you're going to spend weeks or even months living behind enemy lines without easy access to supplies.
It's no good being a crack shot if after a week in the rough you go down with dysentery and your rifle is clogged with dirt because you can't look after yourself and your kit properly.

yeah normaly its only about 2 or so weeks when they do there first part like this and the trick to doing the tent thing is to make it bit belower than knee height cause thats wat its meant to be at knee height but easyer to move it up than down

Do you snuggle up close to them at night and tell bed time stories about your time in the 'Hard Corps'? Do you have to report to your local police station and sign a certain register...?
Hmmm, I think if we took a look at the death toll of USMC Soldiers and RMC would be a lot higher, Reason being because of the training and deciplin given to the troops in britian not just Royal Marines but most of the Armed Forces, Obviously it progresses and gets harder as you go up to different armed forces.
