When Itachi was younger he told Sasuke even if he hates him he'll always be there for him, so he had to dealt with the hatred. That's the foreshadowing by Itachi. He predicted it entirely and this is really it. Great part of Naruto and very sad.

I really don't think that Itachi was evil at all, in fact, to me he had to play the anti-hero because he was given the horrible task by the village elders to kill his clan or risk another Ninja starting again which would have killed evenmore people. He couldn't bring himself to kill his own brother so he left and played the bad guy so that Sasuke would become stronger to protect konoha but because of tobi, sasuke is going in the wrong direction. If I was Itachi, I would be rolling in my grave.

Ya know, the first hokage and Madara Uchiha founded the village, since then their... scope of power, you can say, drastically diminished. So yeah, basically the village elders can be said to be 'evil' but I would say they're more like misguided, proud idiots.
Agree with them being more stupid than 'evil'. They HAD to do something and it wasn't surprising that they got suspicious when literally none of the Uchihas came to their aid during Tobi's attack, and that only an Uchiha's power can control the fox that way. They had to do something about the Uchiha coup that could start a world war. Their decisions were irrational and misguided, but 'evil' is a very strong accusation.

After I had figured out Itachi's real motives, I went back and watched this again and totally bawled. I'm pretty sure I've cried in every single death scene in Naruto. The 3rd, Jiraiya, Obito, Zabuza and Haku, and I got teary when Hinata almost died from Pain, but they didn't stretch that one like they did the other ones. @macrul3z They along with Danzo believed that the Uchiha clan posed a danger to Konoha. Ya know, the first hokage and Madara Uchiha founded the village, since then their... scope of power, you can say, drastically diminished. The Third Hokage wanted to avoid it, so he was in talk with some of the Uchiha clan in negotiations, but we all know that it was too late by then.
So yeah, basically the village elders can be said to be 'evil' but I would say they're more like misguided, proud idiots.

Agree with them being more stupid than 'evil'. They HAD to do something and it wasn't surprising that they got suspicious when literally none of the Uchihas came to their aid during Tobi's attack, and that only an Uchiha's power can control the fox that way. They had to do something about the Uchiha coup that could start a world war. Their decisions were irrational and misguided, but 'evil' is a very strong accusation.

@Zer0sN0b0dy97 village elders were issuing orders, knowing they had little choice since negociations ran out of time. they were doing it all for the greater good. itachi was the one who agreed to it. itachi was the one who begged them to spare sasuke but gave no shit for mikoto who was probably being forced to go along with it as much as shisui was. itachi was the one who, after doing it, proceeded to mindfuck sauske into becoming a little ball of hatred and revenge,leading to sasuke's insanity

FFS he is a spy. their job is to believe the intel he gives them. and no he gave up sauskes happiness and sanity for no real reason. itachi wanted the very worst for sasuke, since he kept filling his head with cruel sick ideas of vengeance and hatred and killing your friends.

Itachi did what he did because he wanted the Uchiha to keep their honor WHILE maintaining peace. If the buncha retards did attempt the coup, REGARDLESS of who WON, the village would be weak enough for Iwa or Kumo to attack directly and WIN. Because of the Uchiha's greed, the 4 GSW coulda been started, and Konoha destroyed. But that doesn't matter right? He played the part of a villain, that means he SHOULD die!!

@xavier8994 secondly, to avoid it, he need only kill one person and thats the guy ordering al this. fugaku. kill him and there stands but one leader of the clan. or simply use shisui's eye on him and order him to stop it. of course theres the possiblity they were being forced into it by the police. plus the uchihas had their reasons. they were a founding clan yet treated like second class citizens for an attack they didnt even have anything to do with. they were kept out of politics for too long

@narutix07 chapter 550 i think. itachi said he planted a genjutsu in shisui's eye that would activate on sight with itachi's eyes. and since he thought sasuke would take his eyes, the genjutsu would activate and sasuke would be under its control of the command "protect konoha". not "protect innocent people" or "protect the 5 nations".

@waabaakii shouldnt they? many uchiha clan members probably didnt know about it either. fugaku needed secrecy for it to work. a coup is defined as a small group of people overthrowing and replacing a government with their own.
most of the village is comprised of jounins who knew about narutos mistreatment and did nothing. they allowed orochimaru to escape. they started second shinobi world war etc.

After I had figured out Itachi's real motives, I went back and watched this again and totally bawled. I'm pretty sure I've cried in every single death scene in Naruto. The 3rd, Jiraiya, Obito, Zabuza and Haku, and I got teary when Hinata almost died from Pain, but they didn't stretch that one like they did the other ones. And I don't cry that much cause I'm a pussy or I'm a crybaby or whatever, it's just because Naruto is SO GOD DAMN EMOTIONAL AND SO AMAZING. Masashi Kishimoto is a god
