anyone can say what they want...everyone knows Bush ran up 5 trillion in debt in 8 years...and Obama will have run up 6 trillion in debt come next month when the debt ceiling will be raised and it only took him 3 years to do this.....facts are facts.....im sure someone will want to argue but the numbers are there for anyone to see...if only they want to look
The first 3 trillion dollar budget to come under Bush was in fiscal year 2008 and the dificit was 467 billion, lower than the 2004 483 billion. Obama has had trillion dollar deficits every year.
@Ralphdraw3 a projected surplus. Keep in mind there still was a huge gap in financing and the previous budget was never passed. Also under clinton the military and intelligence budgets where massacred. The same military that was used to shoot a couple of missiles at the al-quaeda training camp during the height of the lewinsky scandal. we heard back from al-quaeda on 9-11. Bush spent like crazy. the current clown had 2 years of complete control
How about Barack Obama, he basically says whatever to the debt ceiling, and our country is no longer AAA for the first time in its history. great job, miss Bush yet?
@remixset "country is no longer AAA for the first time in its history." You can thank Bush for that! Or do you think Medicare Advantage, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the tax cuts for millionaires, TARP bailouts and loosing 750k jobs a month when he left office had NO COST? Duhr de duhr Thanks for blaming the black guy.
It's time for the people of the United States of America to take our Government back. The Declaration of Independence states: If the government of the People becomes a burden on the People...then it is within our rights to take our Government back.
I'm not calling for a revolution, because that would be treason. I simply want the PEOPLES Government to have a real say in the Governing of our country. Maybe we need a 28th Amendment. One that states the Government will not steal from the people
President George Bush largest budget was $2.9 with a $239 Billion deficit.
.
Obama proposed $3.7 Trillion with a deficit of $1.4 Trillion for 2011. Currently based on usdebtclock org, the debt/GDP is 97.2%. Yet Obama claims that his spending is reasonable better than Reagan.
.
Obama and democrats are trying to position themselves as the “good guys” using a government shutdown as a political strategy for their exorbitant spending.
@Ralphdraw3 Stimulating what was left of the economy to generate tax revenue in order to pay for GWB's unbelievable national debt, TARP bailout in fall 08 (socialism for wall street is just fine) and his two illegal occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan that he did NOTHING to pay for before leaving office. It's the black guys fault though because he was FORCED to raise the debt a lot to simulate what was left of the economy.
@Ralphdraw3 I note that now a week ago, no response on your query, and I don't expect one. Sixty four seconds to lay out bushonomics. I would like to see a clip of all the stupid things/policies, whatever you want to call them, that bush put on the credit card. The bush administration ordered a big meal, then got up and left without paying the tab. It's amazing that "deficits don't matter"(cheney) to we're going to hang you up on the deficit and not pay the mortage.
@Gracelandification "Obama and democrats are trying to position themselves as the “good guys” using a government shutdown as a political strategy for their exorbitant spending." Well, we all know how this ridiculous observation turned out. Instead, Tea Party anarchists held both parties hostage until what the public got was a bastardized frankenstein that S & Poors didn't give a rat's arse. Should have gone with Gang of Six Deal, but nooooooooooooooooo. Go back to your Elvis sightings.
If successful, this 3rd raise in the debt ceiling for President Obama will bring debt up 70% from when he took office 2 1/2 yrs ago. Initially $9.815 Trillion - now near $14.3T - asking to raise it to $16.7T (up $6.9T in 2 1/2yrs)
Five separate Cong. measures were made in the 8 yrs George W. was in office to raise the debt ceiling. Increase 65% overall, the debt ceiling went from $5.9 Trillion to $9.815 Trillion. (up $3.9T in 8yrs)
@politics2u Yeah, and shockingly, your just going to ignore the TARP bailout in fall 08, the tab for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan which GWB never attempted to pay for, over 3 million jobs lost in 4 mo. in fall 08, and an economy in free fall the day he took office forcing him to rack up debt to stimulate the economy. Cherry pick your facts to fit your narrative much? We know, nothing that GWB did in from 2001-08 had any effect on Obama having to significantly raise the national debt.. LOL
@bigge525 The whole government is a sham...I'm ashamed to say I'm an American. If I could find another country to move to that allows illegal immigrants to work and not pay taxes, get drivers licenses without having to learn the language, and let me have a child on it's shores so that the government will provide for it and as many others as I can produce; I wouldn't go there...because they would be just as broken as America is.
This was once a great country...now I just want to move to Holland
Yup. About the only time we (the taxpayers), don't get screwed is when the president and the majority party in congress are NOT of the same party. Most of the time gridlock is better than all the huge deficits that have been accumulating year after year. Now we have to fix entitlements like Social Security. Entitlements are going bankrupt the USA and we could become like Greece or Portugal. Get Obama out too. He is a least as stupid as Bush.
@ST8URCASE In a word, devastating. War is probably the fastest way to burn your wealth. I have been doing very well working in Iraq and Afghanistan the past few years, but I am not so selfish as to want to continue bad wars so I can keep padding my bank account. I will not leave money on the table when it is available, but I will vote for Ron Paul in a heartbeat to stop the U.S.A. from sinking deeper into debt. .... continued
@breezio01 i will vote for ron paul also though he wont win.i can do my part and try to stop the use and abuse of our army and monies.the u s gives away billions to foriegn countries and government subsidies along with domestic obligations.i am pleased to read you didnt stop at welfare programs when in your comments about economic waste.it seems most americans belive americans are responsoble for all of americas problems.i hope you are safe in iraq and com home safely.
@ST8URCASE Thank you. I also appreciate your integrity on the matter of the national debt and government spending. I wish more voters shared your understanding.
@ST8URCASE Neither do I want to waste more money or sell my grandchildren's future for more entitlements either. I say, "don't do anything for any body they should be doing for themselves." That goes for Iraqis, Afghans, and Americans who have enough money for expensive clothes, jewelry, iphones...etc but are too "poor" to pitch in for their own healthcare, food, education, and rent.
@NWsubmom It is interesting that after decades of deficit spending - beginning with big budget buster, Ronald Reagan - that only NOW the Republicans are, all of a sudden, concerned about deficit spending. BTW Paul Ryan's budget won't balance for another 25 YEARS.
@NWsubmom I have no respect or confidence in Paul Ryan - he voted in favor of the three big budget buster during G W Bush (the trifecta): 1) voted for the stupid tax cuts for the wealthy 2) voted for the unpaid for Iraq war 3) voted for the unpaid for Medicare Part D expansion
@NWsubmom I am glad that Bin Laden was killed and that Al Qaeda in Afghanistan is, for the most part, destroyed. Given this, Obama should begin pulling out troops. I agree with Biden's position on Afghanistan that we should have a small force in the region to keep an eye on things. The war-mongering Republicans led by McCain/ Graham are still pushing for war, staying forever, attacking Iran etc... I will vote Democrat in 2012 - the Republicans will nominate a rightwing pro-war candidate
Oh how true. Democrats may like to tax and spend but the f***ing republitards just like to spend into oblivion, funnel money into their crony’s pockets and then blame the Democrats for the deficit. It's time the majority (left) take control back. Now about this whole idiotic Tea Bagging thing.... Warmongers, the whole lot of em...
@CComb501 No the freaking libtards love to spend useless things they don't need robbing people of their tax money. If democrats were so serious about the recession, why did they spend, spend, spend instead of fix it? The American people gave the majority control back. Now you guys are also warmonger, idiotic coffee bagging people. the whole lot of em. See what I did, I just took your response and criticized you and your party. It works both ways!
When a Republican is president there is NEVER peace. But as soon as a Democrat enters office, the wars die down and people at the poverty level feel a better sense of prosperity than before. Republicans are racist bigots that love to stir the pot and keep people fully divided. They invented the idea of rich and poor in this country. Before then all we had were settlers who worked together. Rich politicians changed all that.
@highnote606 Never peace? Well when a Democrat enters office precious babies are getting killed everywhere. When a Republican enters office we can give babies life and people feel more safer. Democrats are the real racist bigots that love to blame everything on the current administration.
@puttputtking just a little advice, dont let your emotions make you look foolish on the internet. those arent facts you use, those are opinions brought on by feelings.
fact is, you or anyone else shouldnt be worshiping any politician, you shouldnt be letting them mold your brain.
being American is a privilege and an honor. you should have enough sense to be partisan. all of you.
watch this, a republican allowed a baby to die because of no insurance so they too kill babies. get my point.
@caveman1968 Opinions? Your platfor is for killing babies. Ours aren't. That's a fact. Enough sense to be partisan? People prefer bi-partisanship. Not partisan. For instance, this video is partisan, and watch what? You didn't show a video where a republican lets a baby die because of no insurance.
@highnote606 wars die down?? really??? so Afghanistan has died down?? What about Libya? Oh and our young men and women are still dying in Iraq.. Wake up, neither party is the answer, they work together to keep us below the line.. Democrats love to group people and divide them. Affirmative action anyone? they love to classify people that make 200 grand as rich even though i'd personally consider them well off, but certainly not rich.
@metallifreak100 See i believe we are ALL EQUAL and that we can do whatever the hell we want as long as we dont infringe the rights of our neighbors and fellow citizens. that includes our right to protect ourselves, own firearms. our COMPLETE right to private property, our COMPLETE right to drugs (weed etc) our COMPLETE right to choose to have health ins or not, our COMPLETE right to marriage ( including same-sex marriage )
@metallifreak100 our COMPLETE right to succeed, and our COMPLETE right to screw up and fail.. I believe in taxes for defense and infrastructure.. I believe in having to have liability insurance for your car (only cause having no insurance in that area could seriously financially ruin the other person/ party) public education and local police and firefighters should be taken care of by local and state governments and NOT the federal government.. #1 thing to do first.. Bring our troops home NOW!
@Zaxxon2008 Bush managed to blow a large budget surplus; ignore the Al Qaeda threat; blow the war in Afghanistan; blow the war in Iraq; deregulate the financial sector of the economy; and preside over one of the worst financial collapses in American history.. Bush has a unique and special record of utter incompetence.
CAN YOU NAME ANYTHING THAT BUSH DID RIGHT? I guess my thinking about Bush is "Never forget" (BTW Reagan and Bush41 deserve partial credit for running up the national debt)
@Ralphdraw3 When are you going to make a Dumbama video? He spent the most money that any other president since Reagan. So make your Dumbama video about his debt?
@Zaxxon2008 I have little knowledge of you, so this isn't pointed directly at you, but aren't people doing that same thing about Obama now? He's a Muslim, socialist, non-American born citizen I've heard. I can see with my own eyes that he's not much different than Bush, other than the aforementioned accusations. So it's a double edged sword and people for some reason tend to think the edge on the side that swings toward them is going to be blunt.
actually its more like 12 trillion, u didnt count his unpaid tax cuts for 09-10 & the troops who were injured in his 2 wars, which is going to cost the country about 2 trillion dollars over thier lifetimes.........
@Zaxxon2008 In the 80's recession: what was the national debt of the US (or debt as % of GDP)e at the tiime of the recession? How many home foreclosures were there in the 1980 recession? How many bankruptcies? Did GM go bankrupt? How many large banks went belly up? How many banks were taken over by the FDIC? How much did the stock market fall?
If you can't answer these questions, your post will be removed.
@Ralphdraw3 listen lady- your whining of - " 80's recession: what was the national debt of US (or debt as % of GDP)e at the tiime of the recession? How many home foreclosures were there in the 1980 recession? How many bankruptcies? Did GM go bankrupt? How many large banks went belly up? How many banks were taken over by the FDIC? How much did the stock market fall?"
does NOT disprove any single FACT that I listed & have provided proof for
now go cry yourself into you "BUSH!!!" corner lady!
@Zaxxon2008 The 1982 recession was worse in what way? Your wrong about Clinton and taxes - they were raised by the Dem Congress in the 1993-94 session. If your post is not corrected it will be removed.
too bad I'm NOT wrong re- Clinton & Taxes- "the(CAP GAINS)rate fell from 28% to 20% under Bill Clinton in 1997 and fell further to 15% under George W. Bush. Then he said, "And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased. The govn't took in more money. And in the '80s, when the tax was increased to 28%, revenues went down. So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100million people in this country own stock & would be affected?" "(Charlie Gibson-ABCNews)
@Ralphdraw3 again you're wrong, but thats become the norm here
after Kennedy/LBJ's tax cuts, the top rate was 70%, not 80. and for all your failed demonization of Reagans "tax cuts for the rich" HIS top rate was 50%. yup, thats right, the feds wanted HALF your money! but thats not enough? LOL@U
and you prove my point about Clinton, AGAIN, he slashed Capital Gains taxes (for the rich LOL) and had a top rate of 39.6% (lower than Reagan? uh oh)
@Ralphdraw3 So then Clinton CUT the top capital gains rate (for those evil rich!) from 28% to 20%. The 15% bracket was lowered to 10%
of course all of this factual data will fly thru the empty space between your ears is moot, as the President doesn't determine the budget - spending - or taxes, Congress does
and yet the deficit also fell every single year of G W Bush's 2nd term, after rebuilding from the Clinton recession "Bush inherited" (LOL@U) and the worst attack on US soil in history

@Zaxxon2008 First I will cry Reagan, Bush41 & Bush43: 20 straught years of deficit spendin, and Clinton's budget HAD A SURPLUS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS. The first time there had been a surplus in the budget in decades and since before Ronnie "trickle-down" Reagan started busting the budget with his stupid tax cuts for the rich and his huge increases in defense spending.
@Zaxxon2008 The last two years of Clinton's presidency there were budget surpluses - i.e. the debt stop growing. When Clinton took office the national debt was around $4 trillion. When he left office, the debt was only $5 trillion AND there were projected budget surpluses. BUSH MORE THAN DOUBLED the national debt from $5 trillion to over $10 trillion.
@FreedomInAmerica all due respect, you should probably get your facts straight. The debt from W was like a snowball rolling down a hill, growing and unstoppable. This president took office with more on his plate than any president in history - why because he took over from W - remember the bail out began on W's watch with monies already distributed - W left two unnecessary wars for Obama to deal with and two trillion dollars from the defense budget unaccounted for Rumsfeld 9/10/01 check it.
@alanckaye Rumsfeld reported the Pentagons had "lost" $2 trillion, but that doesn't mean he or Bush were responsible.
Rumsfeld was reporting on several years of defense budget accounting problems. Rumsfeld and Bush certainly did not "lose" $2 trillion in less than 8 months
don't be daft
and "W left two unnecessary wars for Obama to deal with" ? REALLY???
Obama didn't seem to think so. in fact, Obama said Afghanistan was THE "necessary war"
@Angellicationify WELL IF THERE WAS A WELL FUNDED LOAN THAT WENT TO PAY THE DEBT, HOW INGENEOUS, INDEED. IN WHICH CASE THE MONEY WAS PAID BACK. THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL A WISE PLAN THAT WAS APPROVED BY CONGRESS, AND CARRIED OUT BY THE US TREASURY. THERE WERE NO GOOD PLANS PUT IN PLACE FOR THE EIGHT YEARS OF BUSH, AND ALL THAT WAS LEFT WAS THE BIGGEST GOVERNMENT EVER THAT THE REPUBLICANS WILL STILL FEED AS YOU CAN PLAINLY SEE. WHY STOP SUCH A GOOD THING? THE RICH ARE RICHER, WITH RECORD CAPITAL.
@FreedomInAmerica Of which we can say thanks to Bush as well, since we are continuing his agenda. Nothing has changed. We continue to provide many a tax break, and kickback for the rich. And the tax code is written by the powers that be for a reason. You and I will still be picking at the scraps, as the rich will clean up big time while many of us wind up unemployed or homeless. This Tea Party stuff was a ruse along with health care. While we feed the Military Industrial Complex, rich/lobbiests
@FreedomInAmerica To bad you dont include why the national debt is at 14B 1. the bush tax cuts are still in place which add 450B every year so its been 3 years now, so that's 1.5T BUSH'S wars which cost 36B a year so that's about 100B plus TARP which saved or created 3M jobs, saved our economy from being a black whole along with our allies which was about 700B altogether that's 2.3 under bush sh*t and the NEEDED tarp which leaves out 1.5 B added on OBAMA not to mention we are now in a recession
We all knew all around the world, everyone but american media that if u make 50,000 dollars a year u cant own a new car and a house its impossible economics. so if we new that, why the hell did banks(supposive smart money guys) give out loans that the entire world knew couldnt be paid? the top members in corporations make more money then they ever have in history, and do it by moving jobs out of the country and taking the discount to their bank. u killed middle class for poor and rich.

@FreedomInAmerica Yeah, and I might add that this doesn't include the damage being done to the US currency by the incessant printing of dollars. The country is screwed one way of the other.
OK people, stop blaming bush for the deficit. Congress controls funding. you want to know the facts? From 2000 to 2005 national debt rose about 2 trillion dollars. under the republican controlled congress. in 2006 when democrats controlled both houses, to the most recent election it rose more than 5 trillion.
I know there's a lot of left winged bush bashers out there, but there are simply things that weren't his fault, and those who were, were the very people YOU voted in.
@bigreddawg91 At the expense of sounding like Al Franken you are entitled to your own opinion... You are not entitled to your own facts. Don't bother replying since it will be loaded with untrue information anyways, and we will be arguing on the grounds of false premises.
@stormblast49 fact. congress controls funding. fact. since 2006, spending has gone up obscene amounts. fact. due to this spending the national deficit has exploded. Since congress controls funding, congress is to blame for the deficit. These are not opinions, these are facts. My opinion is that democrats are the main reason for this deficit because democrats had control of both houses of congress from 2006-2010, as well as the presidency from 2008-present. coinciding with the national debt.
I thought I told you not to respond since you weren't going to use actual facts anyways. You see I don't believe Democrats and Republicans should debate, it's too late for that that. They must get the minds of the swing voters and to the victor goes the spoils. The problem is half the swing voters are retarded, after all they voted for the very people they blamed for these problems. Of course after they went to town hall meetings to protest the very health care they supported.
@stormblast49 Which one of these weren't facts, I clearly stated which were facts and which were my opinions, so please enlighten me or else it clearly shows your full of shit. Are you denying that both houses of congress were controlled by one party for four years? are you denying that on party had control of the presidency and the houses of congress for two years? it is not coincidence this coincided with the rise of the national debt.
Unfortunately I can't enlighten you... that's your responsibility. However since you like defining other people's positions i.e. strawman arguments allow me the same opportunity. Are you saying Bush is not responsible for the deficits and national debt because alot of it happened when he was working with democrats after he grew it with the GOP, therefore these things aren't his fault.
@Ralphdraw3 Bush absolutely was a conservative, what the hell are you talking about? You can't disown him after the fact. He sat over the largest expansion of government in the modern era, ran up the deficit, gave tax cuts to the wealthy, without paying for them, and tried to privatize social security...Sounds pretty conservative to me. You say that Obama's party avoided him? How bad was W avoided during the presidential campaign of 08? Obama is the victim of right wing misinformation.
@LondonBobby4 ~ the only people who call obama a "messiah" are conservative clowns like you. not liberals. nothing has been socialized, it was the failed free market being bailed out, which is in large part because of the decades of trickle down reaganomics, i.e., privatization, deregulation, wage busting, outsourcing of jobs, building up a military complex, tax cuts for the wealthy, changing america into a debtor nation, and creating loopholes for corporations.
@tomitstube Ya...it has nothing to do with things like Barney Franks and Clintons Fanny Mae and Freddie. I mean..it's simply 'just' to give mortgages to people who cannot qualify. Who knew they wouldn't pay? Corporates give employment. Socialist steal other peoples money. Or make huge loans that the taxpayers will someday maybe payoff. Gee tubby...are you new?
@LondonBobby4 ~ and no you idiot, the whole barney frank spiel is just more right wing nonsense. 53 trillion dollars in derivatives were leveraged on thin air by wall street. that's why the economy collapsed you clueless idiot. fannie and freddy are private enterprises and were doing the same things. you literally believe the lies of the corporate crooks who caused the economy to fail. you are a dupe. a clueless dupe to the people who are robbing us blind.
@LondonBobby4 ~ so in conclusion, america has decided to return to the same ideology that got us in this mess. now you may still pretend your failed ideology failed because of someone else's ideology, but that would be par for the course, because you free market koolaid drinkers are clueless to facts. you create a system that makes people rich on the backs of the working class, and call equality "income redistribution". this system is unsustainable and you will realize this probably too late.
@LondonBobby4 and you're from Canada?? LOL, with that national health insurance?? I am tempted to delete all your junk here - you can WORRY about CANADA
@LondonBobby4 ~ lmao. so you're telling me reagan inherited an economy on the brink of collapse? two 8 year wars? 9 million private sector jobs lost, 750,000 jobs being lost a month the day he took office? a budget that didn't include 3 trillion spent on wars? 3 trillion lost in tax revenue to the top 2% in tax cuts? a decade of income regression? wow, you conservatives really are delusional.
you realize george bush wrote the 2009 budget, right?
@tomitstube By the way. Reguardless of what a previous President did tubey. Obama had the Whitehouse, The Senate and the House of Reps. He could have done 'anything' he wanted. Changed any budget. Insterad he brought in a heap of socialism that even his own party found hard to swallow. They should never have needed the minority party of no. Well Obama got bitch slapped on Nov 2. lets see if he gets it now?
@LondonBobby4 Stop being stupid, The united states has had socialist parts of government for decades. Also I second the "Thank god for the tea party" Because it will win Obama a 2nd term. The reason why the democrats lost the house is not because the american people (I being one of them) thought they were pushing socialism its because they didn't properly communicate what they did for the middle class.
@AZVolume communicate? you aren't serious? Wake-up AZy. A majority of American do NOT want socialism. The many polls (even left winged media polls) showed that the majority of Americans apposed Obamacare. He shoved it down through the back door anyhow. THATS what people reject. The Tea Party is attempting to put people in that WILL represent the voter. You keep telling yourself that Obama will get in again. But please send me a pic of your face when you see he doesn't. PLEASE!
@LondonBobby4 ~ you are hilarious. everything you say is some rightwing soundbite completely based in fallacy. you have not addressed one fact i've stated. you can't specifically say one thing that jimmy carter did to mess up the economy, because reagan stayed the course with carters financial team. is any of this getting through your extremely thick head? the reason reagans economy got better is because he repealed most of his tax cuts, advised by carters financial guy, paul volker.
1) unemployment reached 10.8% 18 months AFTER he took office.
2) reagan kept the same federal reserve chairman and economic policy that carter used. paul volker. it was a business cycle that helped reagan, not tax cuts.
3) his famous tax cut was later repealed because it was killing the economy.
4 reagan gave mexicans amnesty and approved legal abortions in california as governor.
@voltrabbit7 ~ i understand your frustration, i'm frustrated too, as someone who voted for "change", i've been severely disappointed with obama's fight for the people. but when you consider what was left over by bush, it would be impossible to fix this mess in 2 years. idk, i don't want to abolish government like the right does, at least the left believes it has a purpose. there is proof that the current crop of repubs is completely funded by less than 1000 people. anonymously.
@tomitstube Reagan inherited an even worse economy then Obama. Yes, higher unemployment, and higher inflation. Reagan didn't raise taxes, increase Government and incorporate more Government control. Things have gotten worse 'because' of Obama's policies.
@LondonBobby4 ~ and after 8 years of possibly the worst president in our history, 12 years of republicans handing us the worst economy since the great depression. and after 18 months of filibustering every proposal to correct the ship, you've put the same clowns back in office? i'm sorry, even more clueless teabaggers? it's reaganomics that's the fundamental failure of our situation and you've put even nuttier disciples of this pathetically failed ideology in office.
@voltrabbit7 ~ idk why i didn't think of this, but you mentioned outsourcing of jobs as problem #1. while $3.5 trillion went to the top 10% in bush tax cuts, why did the private market purged 8.4 million jobs? because the wealthiest americans invested an estimated 4.9 trillion dollars overseas. outsourcing jobs. and who is spending 50 million dollars in ads, 8:1 on repubs while taking money from foreign companies and saying outsourcing is necessary? the chamber of commerce.
@voltrabbit7 ~ so let's recap? republicans are taking in record money from organizations and wealthy donors who are not only using their trillions in tax cuts to outsource american jobs, they plan on continuing to do so. and why are these record monies being exclusively spent on republicans this fall? well, i'm sure even you can figure that one out. so, if you're REALLY concerned about the debt and outsourcing, why would you elect the people these billionaires are buying?
@voltrabbit7 ~ uh yeah, eliminate taxes. of course the ultimate irony in that modern day populist "anti-government" message is how quickly all the gubment haters will cry bloody murder when their medicare, social security, unemployment, disability, welfare, and dozens of other safety nets are taken away. but that's the easy nonsensical approach, sounds good without being practical. so when you get sick and can't pay for care? should we just cover you with a blanket and let you die?
@voltrabbit7 ~ well let me cure you of your angst for the filthy rich. THEY DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT YOU! they get the same tax cut under $250,000 that everyone does. some of them want to eliminate social security, unemployment, and medicare. why not? THEY don't need it. they're the only class who made income gains under the bush tax cuts. and they didn't create jobs with it, in fact they used the tax break money to outsource american jobs to make even bigger profits.
@voltrabbit7 ~ curious, how do you feel about military and weapons spending? or having a base in every country? or the massive private defense industry? george ii gave us two wars, medicare d, tax cuts for the wealthy... all NOT paid for. but everyone forgets the largest government expenditure of all. talk about welfare, how about cutting social services for the gluttony of "home land security?" you saw how well fema worked when gutted and stuck up the ass of home land security.
Bush Jr. was and is even more now a wet brained alcoholic son of a CIA killer. He was just a puppet on a set of strings set up to oversee a pre-planned operation of subdue and destroy because of a so-called "attack on America by terrorists .... blah, blah, blaaahh, blah, blah, blahbahablah blah,blah..." "Thank you June. Now let's return to our man Jade in Washington where preparations for invading Tahiti are underway. Are you there Jade?" "Yes Bill and the bullshi, I mean energy is blah, blah...
Destroy this nightmare. And follow no man. Unless you know the man. We know nothing of the men who lead us. We do not even know if they are human. We only, know their images. However, we destroy the Constitution that controls their power and their hatreds and their agendas. We believe what we hear on our "local networks". Look at this word "network"???? Are you an escaped animal? Are you a fish to be eaten? Do you like being netted? Caught? Entranced by falling towers, again and again and again?
@voltrabbit7 Even the "Soviet Threat" was over bloated and highly contrived propaganda par excellence. Proof of this is simple: Dwight D. Eisenhower's farewell speech. Idiots who think that they are patriots because they sing hymns, wave flags and love "war" on TV terror networks, say, "It was only a farewell speech." Trying to bury their empty heads in the sands of lies, but the farewell is most key. i.e. a clear the slate statement. His warning? Beware of the - US Military Industrial Complex.
@voltrabbit7 Sec Def. Gates wants to close more bases and eliminate unneeded (but costly) weapons programs. One of the bases Gates wants to close is in Maryland - this is controversial.
BTW - you have to cut spending somewhere - the Pentagon is bloated and there is no military threat as serious as the one that the USSR posed.
According to CBO Bush deficit peaked in '04 at an excess of $400bil, then spiral down to less than $200bil in '07. In the end it shot up to $400bil+.
How this opposes your video, your vid depicts the Bush presidency as a consistant money loser, but CBO shows he had the same up and down as other Presidents.
And it'll take even long to repair. Can't be corrected in one or two terms of office by Obama or anybody, but Obama has rescued us from an even worse economy than we have now. It was dumped in his lap and there are so many who want to blame him for the sins of Reagan + Bush41 &Bush43.
I have been meaning to make a similar one, but have been procrastinating.
I better get going on it as its very close to November 4th when we see if the independent voters are really as mentally challenged in there memory as the poles say.
the 10 trillion dollar man. mission accomplished. repubs wreck the economies and dems have to clean up their fiscally conservative messes. roosevelt after harding coolidge and hoover, clinton after 12 years of reagan/bush1, and now obama gets hit with a projected (cbo estimate) 9 trillion dollar deficit (thru 2013) if he does nothing.
i think americans should be told conservatives are deliberately trying to wreck the federal government as a matter of ideology and policy.
Actually, look at the whole picture: On January 20th, 2001, the National Debt RIGHT AFTER CLINTON stood at 5.6 trillion dollars. By the last day of Bush's illegitimate 8 years of White House occupation, it reached 10.1 trillion. Nearly double what was an already very large number!
I'm not sure the educated gentleman, "hermoda", should be too quick with his use of the term "stealing". Only because if you can't spell enterprise correctly, you really don't know shit about governance or economics.
Let the Bush tax cuts expire (which we couldn't afford in the first place) and end the two wars that are costing this nation billions a month. If the congress does choose to extend the tax cuts, it will cost the U.S. an estimated $3 trillion over a time period. The truth of the matter is that Republican have a history of spending more, a lot more actually, starting with Ronald Reagan.
Where were the tea baggers between 01 and 08? But, don't get me wrong here. They have a right to be furious with their Gov.. They have legitimate concerns like the bailouts and the debt (And yes, we NEED to get the debt under control). BUT, can we all just admit this is disguised racism? I mean, "I want my country back"?? Back from what....a black man running it? Sorry to upset you, but I want my country forward!
@StrawberryFields1421 not really all that disguised if you look at the many signs that are at most of those rallies in rural states still supporting these GOP people who have brainwashed these states into believing that somehow GOP is on their side. these racists teabaggers are basically drones supporting what is NOT in their best interests right now. weird.
I do believe that we will be the first empire to document our own downfall. It's sad. The only country to send humans to the moon is now having to argue with the "loyal" opposition about stimulating an economy that THEIR policies wrecked. I didn't hear anyone on the right complaining when W raised the debt ceiling 6 fricken times in 8 years. But now a Democrat is in charge and all of a sudden deficits matter again. Sad...
@hobatu -- Democrats/Independents do the same thing; it's human nature for emotion to influence your understanding of the world. The key is not to shut out that emotion, but to find a balance without letting emotion overwhelm the facts.
This is pretty good. Some exciting classical music would make it better :) The criminals robbed the treasury, the kitty, the common wealth, and then crashed the economy. It's the way of the banks war economy. It's also perfect for recruiting down and out people to go join the military. Wait, robbing people, bribing people, enticing people to take up arms, invading and attacking other countries...isn't that what terrorists do? Turns out these criminals are terrorists to boot!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And you Obama progressives continue accelarating down the path to bankrupcy... Stealing the money from private enterprize until it gets up and leaves, then spends it all on useless stimulus. Wake up!
Yes, you should stop doing that, you and your oh-so peaceful president who is amping up one war and leaving troops everywhere else around the world. Pull em all home and save the cash
@hermoda Stealing from WHO? I NEVER got a bonus for bankrupting a business, but the joyboys on Wall Street did. I NEVER got a lifetime pension for driving us into spiraling debt paying for 'wars' for 'freedom' in places no one wants us to be, ut Bush did. I say steal the sucker blind like they've been doing to us. And send the execs packing with the jobs they send elsewhere.
The lousy bankers should have been left bankrupt and fired, not bailed out by big government. I'm as much against crony capitalism as any man. Doesn't mean that you can tax the rest of the population as much as you want.
@hermoda It already left during the bush regime. Record levels of American jobs outsourced. Remember? Or is that conveniently forgotten? The Bush tax cuts are still in place, they weren't paid for at all, and have not been a rousing success. Stop watching fake news and glen beck.
Sure, Bush borrowed and spent, he was a big government guy. He and Alan Greenspan inflated Americas consumer economy by providing cheap credit by borrowing and printing money. They are at fault, but its not the tax cuts that are killing the economy, its the spending, stupid. People keeping their rightfully earned money is good. Spending is the problem, so don't fuel Washington by handing them more money. Starve the beast
@hermoda The Bush tax cuts are the single largest cause of America's structural deficit -- that is, the deficit not caused by the collapse in tax revenue when the economy goes into recession. Stupid? Why the name calling? I didn't say anything derogatory about you. That isn't conducive to having open civil discourse. How do you expect me to take you serious when you are being immature.
@tatsujinMasurao Bush was also a conservative. Why are the republicans trying to disown Bush now? Here is the debt to GDP of a few presidents before/after.
@hermoda oh please they have been leaving for yeEEEEEEars before dems got in office. ever hear about outsourcing?! they have been steadily doing outsourcing sending all our jobs overseas until theres almost none left. the dems need to tax the american companies on paychecks made to employees outside of the country, that would fix that problem right then and there! you'd see all the companies bringing jobs back in a weeks time! HA! LOL
@hobatu -- I don't think he's even able to think on his own. Everything he's posted is just regurgitated GOP talking points; whenever people ask him to back up what he's said with evidence he either shuts up or uses false points.
@missymcr1 And don't forget the $3 Trillion Dollar War in Iraq - Politifactrated verified and rated as true the following: it costs every household in America $100.00 a month to support the War in Iraq - for how many years now?. Obama has us reasonably out of there now and maybe he will be able to extricate us from Afghanastan too. Keep the faith!
@missymcr1 Crazy how people have begun to refer to tax cuts as expenditure. You're implying that the government is entitled to all of your money, and it lets you keep some out of charity. This is a tactic to deflect from the growing government spending that we have lost all control of.
anyone can say what they want...everyone knows Bush ran up 5 trillion in debt in 8 years...and Obama will have run up 6 trillion in debt come next month when the debt ceiling will be raised and it only took him 3 years to do this.....facts are facts.....im sure someone will want to argue but the numbers are there for anyone to see...if only they want to look

Ralphdraw3 7 months ago

(up $3.9T in 8yrs)
politics2u 7 months ago
@politics2u Yeah, and shockingly, your just going to ignore the TARP bailout in fall 08, the tab for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan which GWB never attempted to pay for, over 3 million jobs lost in 4 mo. in fall 08, and an economy in free fall the day he took office forcing him to rack up debt to stimulate the economy. Cherry pick your facts to fit your narrative much? We know, nothing that GWB did in from 2001-08 had any effect on Obama having to significantly raise the national debt.. LOL

Democrats are the real racist bigots that love to blame everything on the current administration.

fact is, you or anyone else shouldnt be worshiping any politician, you shouldnt be letting them mold your brain.

watch this, a republican allowed a baby to die because of no insurance so they too kill babies. get my point.

@caveman1968 Opinions? Your platfor is for killing babies. Ours aren't. That's a fact. Enough sense to be partisan? People prefer bi-partisanship. Not partisan. For instance, this video is partisan, and watch what? You didn't show a video where a republican lets a baby die because of no insurance.

PeaceIsOK 1 year ago

Don't bother replying since it will be loaded with untrue information anyways, and we will be arguing on the grounds of false premises.
stormblast49 1 year ago
@stormblast49 fact. congress controls funding. fact. since 2006, spending has gone up obscene amounts. fact. due to this spending the national deficit has exploded. Since congress controls funding, congress is to blame for the deficit. These are not opinions, these are facts. My opinion is that democrats are the main reason for this deficit because democrats had control of both houses of congress from 2006-2010, as well as the presidency from 2008-present. coinciding with the national debt.
bigreddawg91 1 year ago
@bigreddawg91
Of course after they went to town hall meetings to protest the very health care they supported.
stormblast49 1 year ago
@stormblast49 Which one of these weren't facts, I clearly stated which were facts and which were my opinions, so please enlighten me or else it clearly shows your full of shit. Are you denying that both houses of congress were controlled by one party for four years? are you denying that on party had control of the presidency and the houses of congress for two years? it is not coincidence this coincided with the rise of the national debt.
bigreddawg91 1 year ago
@bigreddawg91

@LondonBobby4 Gonzo - OH CANADA!!!
Ralphdraw3 1 year ago
@Ralphdraw3 Bush absolutely was a conservative, what the hell are you talking about? You can't disown him after the fact. He sat over the largest expansion of government in the modern era, ran up the deficit, gave tax cuts to the wealthy, without paying for them, and tried to privatize social security...Sounds pretty conservative to me. You say that Obama's party avoided him? How bad was W avoided during the presidential campaign of 08? Obama is the victim of right wing misinformation.
tatsujinMasurao 1 year ago
@LondonBobby4 ~ the only people who call obama a "messiah" are conservative clowns like you. not liberals. nothing has been socialized, it was the failed free market being bailed out, which is in large part because of the decades of trickle down reaganomics, i.e., privatization, deregulation, wage busting, outsourcing of jobs, building up a military complex, tax cuts for the wealthy, changing america into a debtor nation, and creating loopholes for corporations.
tomitstube 1 year ago
@tomitstube Ya...it has nothing to do with things like Barney Franks and Clintons Fanny Mae and Freddie. I mean..it's simply 'just' to give mortgages to people who cannot qualify. Who knew they wouldn't pay? Corporates give employment. Socialist steal other peoples money. Or make huge loans that the taxpayers will someday maybe payoff. Gee tubby...are you new?
LondonBobby4 1 year ago
@LondonBobby4 ~ and no you idiot, the whole barney frank spiel is just more right wing nonsense. 53 trillion dollars in derivatives were leveraged on thin air by wall street. that's why the economy collapsed you clueless idiot. fannie and freddy are private enterprises and were doing the same things. you literally believe the lies of the corporate crooks who caused the economy to fail. you are a dupe. a clueless dupe to the people who are robbing us blind.
tomitstube 1 year ago
@LondonBobby4 ~ so in conclusion, america has decided to return to the same ideology that got us in this mess. now you may still pretend your failed ideology failed because of someone else's ideology, but that would be par for the course, because you free market koolaid drinkers are clueless to facts. you create a system that makes people rich on the backs of the working class, and call equality "income redistribution". this system is unsustainable and you will realize this probably too late.

you realize george bush wrote the 2009 budget, right?

@tomitstube By the way. Reguardless of what a previous President did tubey. Obama had the Whitehouse, The Senate and the House of Reps. He could have done 'anything' he wanted. Changed any budget.

AZVolume 1 year ago
@AZVolume communicate? you aren't serious? Wake-up AZy. A majority of American do NOT want socialism. LondonBobby4 1 year ago
@LondonBobby4 ~ you are hilarious. everything you say is some rightwing soundbite completely based in fallacy. you have not addressed one fact i've stated. you can't specifically say one thing that jimmy carter did to mess up the economy, because reagan stayed the course with carters financial team. is any of this getting through your extremely thick head? the reason reagans economy got better is because he repealed most of his tax cuts, advised by carters financial guy, paul volker.
tomitstube 1 year ago
@LondonBobby4 ~ shut up stupid. some reagan facts.
5) reagan tripled the deficit in his 1st term.

@voltrabbit7 ~ i understand your frustration, i'm frustrated too, as someone who voted for "change", i've been severely disappointed with obama's fight for the people. but when you consider what was left over by bush, it would be impossible to fix this mess in 2 years. idk, i don't want to abolish government like the right does, at least the left believes it has a purpose. there is proof that the current crop of repubs is completely funded by less than 1000 people. anonymously.
tomitstube 1 year ago
@tomitstube Reagan inherited an even worse economy then Obama. Yes, higher unemployment, and higher inflation. Reagan didn't raise taxes, increase Government and incorporate more Government control. Things have gotten worse 'because' of Obama's policies.
LondonBobby4 1 year ago
@LondonBobby4 ~ and after 8 years of possibly the worst president in our history, 12 years of republicans handing us the worst economy since the great depression. and after 18 months of filibustering every proposal to correct the ship, you've put the same clowns back in office? i'm sorry, even more clueless teabaggers? it's reaganomics that's the fundamental failure of our situation and you've put even nuttier disciples of this pathetically failed ideology in office.
congratulations.
tomitstube 1 year ago
@voltrabbit7 ~ idk why i didn't think of this, but you mentioned outsourcing of jobs as problem #1. while $3.5 trillion went to the top 10% in bush tax cuts, why did the private market purged 8.4 million jobs? because the wealthiest americans invested an estimated 4.9 trillion dollars overseas. outsourcing jobs. and who is spending 50 million dollars in ads, 8:1 on repubs while taking money from foreign companies and saying outsourcing is necessary? the chamber of commerce.
tomitstube 1 year ago
@voltrabbit7 ~ so let's recap? republicans are taking in record money from organizations and wealthy donors who are not only using their trillions in tax cuts to outsource american jobs, they plan on continuing to do so. and why are these record monies being exclusively spent on republicans this fall? well, i'm sure even you can figure that one out. so, if you're REALLY concerned about the debt and outsourcing, why would you elect the people these billionaires are buying?
tomitstube 1 year ago
@voltrabbit7 ~ uh yeah, eliminate taxes. of course the ultimate irony in that modern day populist "anti-government" message is how quickly all the gubment haters will cry bloody murder when their medicare, social security, unemployment, disability, welfare, and dozens of other safety nets are taken away. but that's the easy nonsensical approach, sounds good without being practical. so when you get sick and can't pay for care? should we just cover you with a blanket and let you die?
tomitstube 1 year ago
@voltrabbit7 ~ well let me cure you of your angst for the filthy rich. THEY DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT YOU! they get the same tax cut under $250,000 that everyone does. some of them want to eliminate social security, unemployment, and medicare. why not? THEY don't need it. they're the only class who made income gains under the bush tax cuts. and they didn't create jobs with it, in fact they used the tax break money to outsource american jobs to make even bigger profits.

Bush's tax cuts will end up costing twice as much as the Obama/Democrat sponsored Health Care Bill...so..it's ok to spend almost
$2.5 Trillion for tax refunds from 2001-2010, which btw will be deficit financed (around $400 Billion in interest payments).
The Bush tax cuts were supposed to have created investments which were to have stimulated the economy, but look what happened instead...the
