@idku34 it'll work, i bought one and my iphone works with it, its abit buggy as every hour it'll unplug itself and i'd have to replug the phone. just plug the hone in, if it doesn't work, unplug and try again, and way 5 seconds. usulayy takes 2 tries
Like seriously... great video - all part from the guy who hasn't got a clue about how to use the dslr in film mode. Just cause younhve f1.4 or f1.8 doesn't mean you have to use it all the time!!
This works with a growing number of apps on the app store including Akai's own Synthstation app currently priced at $1.99 (Universal:One purchase gets you the iPad and iPhone version). The outstanding NanoStudio app works well with this. Others: Music Studio, 50 in 1, NLog MIDI Synth, VirSyn's iVoxel, and more...
Very cool, but these two music store employees look as though they should get back to work. The boss comes barreling in and says : "what the hell are are you guys doing? get back to work!"
@TheSpiderMind I doubt that Akai or anyone will ever do android. Why you may ask? The android hardware is so fragmented that they would it would end up in endless hair pulling. I'm an Android software developer and even that is a real pain in the arse sometimes.
The iPhone however is 1 device, uniform(More or less) with the same dock connector and software that works the same on all hardware.
@TheSpiderMind I guess what I'm referring to is outward design. With the iPhone you have a few designs, it's much easier to design a dock that will accommodate these few variables. With the Android phones, you have a huge variance in phone designs, thick, thin, sliders, flip phones, USB on the bottom, USB on the side, etc... That's the first problem when it comes to designing hardware attachments for android phones.
Second is software design. I'll continue in a separate post.
@MadGoat Continued... with the iPhone, it's 2 models to worry about (3Gs and 4. The 3G isn't as prevalent anymore). so if it runs great on my 2 test models, it'll run great on almost all of them.
With Android, I've had to dumb down a lot of features in my apps since the App might right like a dream on the Galaxy S, most people don't get those, they get the free on contract phones (Read: Really slow and crappy) I have 2 Androids and there's such a variance between the 2.

@MadGoat USB is standard on andriod, the IO is taken care of. There is also bluetooth 3, with its reduced latency.
As the hardware continues to improve, I would bet most/all new phones would have the horsepower to run it. Never say never.
In fact, my Vibrant is already power powerful than an Iphone 4, processing wise.
of course, no one will switch phones and switch to AT&T for the benefit of this product.
