@rougestr NO, it´s about quality of the music. Prog Rock>>>>>>>>>Indie. And if you want good lyrics, there´s a thing we call trobadores, for which I don´t know a good english translation, which is basicly poets with great guitar skills. Anyway, Indie IS pretty flat, there are many genres with better music (Jazz) and thousands of bands with more meaningful lyrics.

That said, The Kooks are pretty good... the best of their genre, you could say.

@ianmashy There are far better bands who've never been in the singles charts and in this day and age thats usually the case. In the U.S. there are some unbelievably good bands/singer songwriters that are on smaller labels like Drag city or DiCristina.

Nobody hears about them cos they're not for the main stream media. But in truth there's good music all over the place, in fact more now than there has ever been in terms of being able to access it. Keep digging!
