River otters have been seen in Barrackpore on several occasion. Lets hope it stays that way. Lets try to encourage people to be kind to our environment, we have beautiful wildlife.
The small pond and creek behind my grandmothers house in floria has otters in it, but they are aggressive so we have to be careful when swimming. One bit my uncle when he was wading in the creek mouth.
Sadly, this family of females is indeed extinct. The last one died in May 2006; she drowned in a crab trap. One of the male pups in this film is still alive, however. AND there is a new mother and baby here now. I don't know where this female came from, but she and her little one are sure welcome sights! See otters dot livejournal dot com for details...

These are River Otters not Sea Otters. The Sea otters are extinct in Trinidad Bay.
Thank god we still have them in Monterey Bay.
