Whether sea urchins can feel pain or not think there is something disturbing about your meal moving around on the plate (I keep imaging a fish or a chicken... just staring at you in disbelief as you consumed it). I would probably try it once it stopped squirming though.
@iseezapie are you a sea urchin to say that? how can you know it if you even don't know what does being a sea urchin mean? i don't think so, you know, you're just killing him!
@iseezapie how can you know it?? we are humans not a "supreme being" we can not know anything, for example before the neutrins we thought the light were the fastest thing! don't take anything for granted!
@r4sh89 Right, well im gonna stop talking to you now, there is no point in having a conversation with someone who puts wild specualtion and emotional pleading ahead of empirical fact
@iseezapie wild speculation and emotional pleading of empirical facts? it's seems to be you're pretty closed to your ideas without listening other ones! you know what does empirical mean? based just on experience, well, experience is relative and it doesn't bring you to actually true at 100%! man, a sea urchin is not a human! you're seeing it through human eyes! for evemple even fishes drink, but not through mouth as we do but through a process called osmosis, just because they are of course
@r4sh89 Why are you arguing this? Your claims aren't suddenly going to make sea urchins have a nervous system that can feel pain. If you want to support your claims go get a qualification in marine biology and do the research, get your work peer reviewed and get it published, until then it's just wild speculation
@iseezapie because you have biology qualification or something like that ? i can say your too is wild speculation until is just an affermation! anyway it has nothing to do with that, in this way you just build up a dogma! in science nothing is sure 100% per cent! plus, you know, you're killing him, i don't think it's like "ok , you're going to kill me, whatever" they are not stupid ( as darwin stated) so they know you're just eating them!
Make sure where ever you go, it is very fresh. I've tried Uni at various sushi jointed and didn't like it until I went to the right place. How does it taste? Kind of like the Ocean with some sweetness and a very soft and slippery texture. If you eat it live, it will be warm but not hot.
@chealyte I would have to say that it is an acquired taste. Either you love it or hate it. Just go to a sushi bar joint and try it out. You might just end up loving it!!
@KhmerSerey1 It's already dead.. it's just like anything that you eat, it's the nerve endings that are moving involuntary. Even when something dies, their nerves still work for a short period of time. If a sea urchin is 'moving' like that.. it's considered very fresh.

Don't know why I watched this.
It tortured me so much, but I couldn't look away.
Why don't they ever kill it completely, it's just wrong other wise. I mean sticking spoon in something still alive? It just gets to me.

@r4sh89 It doesn't have a nervous system, it's not a matter of opinion, it's fact, no nervous system, no pain
