The master laying it down! Love this song from Blood On The Tracks. This electric version is excellent. A great YouTube find. Can anyone tell me what year this was? And maybe also where? I would love to see this whole show! Dylan is a national treasure and a genius beyond description.
Hey music fans! if you like Bob Dylan check out my new album review channel Lava Lamp Review. On my channel I do album reviews of bands and album that people have forgotten about or just don't know about these days. Music today just isnt cutting it for me, so I'm here to talk about the great music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. So check out Lava Lamp Review! Your vintage music fix
i don't know why listening to Bob Dylan makes me so sad. Is it because i'll never be this cool? or that music like this has pretty much died? or that he can't go on forever?
@cruzinn2 i talked to about 6 people at my school and they had never even heard of him.... however, there are a select few who are fans of his music who i talk to. and it's cool talking to my grandpa because he listened to it all when it was first coming out. my grandma remembers when Positively 4th Street came out... i find that so awesome
@HouseHoldGuy1 Positively 4th Street was my comfort in highschool. It helped me make sense of certain people and I would play it again when I needed a reminder, which was about everyday. I knew when it came out it would be my theme song. Bet your Grandpa is very cool eh :)
@misred1 i used to listen to it thinking it was a light-hearted song. now i realize how badly he is talking about someone. You don't need to name call and stuff to really stab at someone.
I feel the same way lol i listen to it over and over.
@bigc2nyce This looks like a song from the famous "Rolling Thunder" tour. The best live Dylan, in my opinion. There were several great musicians on this tour so your bass player would be found there.
the first time i heard "blood on the tracks" i was at a friends and we had both had a couple of good ecstacy tablets, few mushrooms, plenty of morrocan hashish washed down with a few bottles of good red wine. in other words we were very high:> and listenin to that record was kind of a spiritual experience!
I think this is where Adam Sandler got the look for his character in "You Don't Mess With The Zohan" or whatever it's called. Notice a resemblance? lol
Mick Ronson was a fantastic addition to Bob's Blood on the Tracks Tour. A strange combination but one that clearly worked. There are a few other vids from the same tour floating around out there. Ronno, you are missed.
Mick Ronson was a fantastic additin to Bob's Blood on the Tracks Tour. A strange combination but one that clearly worked. There are a few other vids from the same tour floating around out there. Ronno, you are missed.
ive bought 5 dylan cd s since i seen dylan clips on youtube and im in the process of getting everything hes ever done(again).cant see why they keep deleting his clips.
Personally, I love Bob Dylan. But I cannot stand the fact that in concert he changes the structure of every single song in a major way. It blows. It's a slap in the face to the fans. I've seen old footage of concerts that are mind blowing, where he's playing pretty close to the original, and it is a work of art. But this version compared to the original and how he performs now? Sadly lacking.
I think Dylan is still relevant today because he has constantly re-invented himself. Probably wants to re-invent his songs too, and that's fine... we can still find the originals!
I'm happy in his concert I can actually recognise a song! But that's OK by me, he's Bob Dylan, and they're his songs.
Why can't today's so-called artists watch this and see how it's supposed to be done, when it was about music and not about the most stupid or slutty outfit you can wear?
If it's not about ass and tits, it's about making fool of yourself Gaga-style, or putting 5 pounds of gold around your neck or showing your 6-pack, or whatever the fuck they do today instead of making music worth listening to...
Songs like this will never fade away, while I can't even remember the last song from Da Beyoncèah -.-
@mickeypopa I agree. There are some great artists today though. Check out Ray Lamontagne for example. He's one of the best modern artists around today. There are others as well, but I'd check out Ray Lamontagne's music if you haven't. Also, check out some artists from the Daptone Recording label...lotta great stuff, soul music and other cool stuff like that and it all sounds like recordings from the late 60's-70's.
@LeopoldGold1 : sorry, but to me it sounds as if theren't any good artists around anymore. I agree about the things said about Gaga en Beyonce and that there's too much rubbish in the bizz ...But acts like Prince, Stereophonics, Black Crowes, Springsteen, and then some(!), even have a modern sound and don't need to sound 'old' to be genuine.
It's not that hard to focus on real artists if you just don't pay attention to the charts or videos. The visual stuff is for the teenagers.
This has always been my favorite performance of this song. Dylan giving 110%! The back up guitar players are just plain jammin yet Dylan never skips a beat or word. So much emotion & soul in this entire concert. It had stormed right before & rained some during this concert so Dylan opens with "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall." From that first song this concert was destined to be powerful & moving!
I recognize the setting but am not sure about where it is. Can anyone tell me which gig this was. looks more like a festival than just a bob dylan show. but i could be be very wrong ;)
i was a mod at 16 into the jam the who the kinks the small faces i walked by my oldest brothers room he was playing this i stopped outside his door ,time stopped and i went who the fuck is that ,ah bob luv you
I wish I had been in the room when Bob and his band tried that song in this rocking version and found out how amazing it sounded. Albeit a little, rock history was made.
A stop on this tour was actually televised on commercial TV back in the 70s ... unheard of at the time. ... this remains my favorite version of this song ... powerful addition to an unsurpassed legend.
I was 10 yards from the stage in thr RAIN all day ! Show opened with Kinky Friedman . 4 or 5 of the musicians were dressed like Dylan from previous album covers -- folk Dylan w. hat & shearling jacket ; hawaiian -shirt Dylan from Hwy 61 ---
FUNALLY Dylan came out w. face make-up and head scarf . Joan Baez was overbearing / Scarlet Rivera rocked / the band was fantastic . Noon to 6 pm in Fort Collins !!!!
So many greats on this tour. Mick Ronson told Ian Hunter to join him on the "Rolling Thunder" tour. Anyone could play. Check out Dylan's "Who is THAT" moment when he asks the bass player who's playing the slide, lead guitar?
the absolute most stellar version, makes the album cut seem anaemic. in fact all these ft collins rolling thunder revue cuts make mincemeat of everything studio or live.
I'm glad so many of you guys like it :) I'm just sad that Dylan's videos (this one included) are not visible around the world but just in a few countries... Hopefully that will change soon :)
the trick is too not put "bob dylan" in the title when you post them, then they dont get taken down...check out my channel if you want to see some live dylan.
