You cannot compare them. Tekken relies less on joypad-acrobat-skills which imo is good since it shall be all about mind-games. Street Fighter has no great depth in closed combat. Tekken is all about diving in closed combat.
one problem: It really bothers me that in for a throw (at least with Paul) I have to push the buttons too simultaneously what often accidently results in performing a kick instead a throw. It always works great in other fighters but not in tekken6. Anyone same problem?

only thing i see here different to the other game is a few new characters. Quicker faster paced combat. area interraction like ground breaking. Glass shattering and your able to gain more combos while the opponent is up in there air.. pretty much just stating the obvious if u love the tekken games buy it an own your friends... if u liked it but not a big fan than wait till price goes down
most of all the tekken games I've played are very similar you easily beat the game doing the same moves on each opponent. There is some skill in it if you know some move sets.
I think the "random button press" technique is the most effective of all! Though I do know some neat combos, it would take much too much time to learn all of them....
This game looks like nothing revolutionary...It plays and looks like previous versions...SF4 kind of killed it for me, if a classic fighting game is going to come out now, it has to be completely a new experience...I just dont see that here...the graphics are the same as b4 and the whole hitting the guy in the air and he bounces up thing looks soooo fake as it always has....I wont buy this, I'm still addicted to Shoooryuuuuken
@jj007104 That's completely untrue, Tekken 6 has to be the smoothest fighting game to date. It looks perfect in graphics and yes, it basically is a new experience because every fighter is not perfected in their fighting style so it feels unlike any previous fighter.
by the way, Street fighter does suck, it's the same game, no new moves, few new fighters, and a low selection,sucks that that game ruined it.
I dont know I love SF man...the timing in the game is perfect and it's easy to get into...Tekken could have all this technical stuff but at the end of the day SF's fun factor is addictive

its just that tekken was just released in america and their recently doing trophy updates, they said they will update the offline campaign around the winter time.
If I'm going to buy a fight game its gonna be Fight Night. Might just be me but I just dont get excited about SF or Tekken and haven't done since I owned a SNES.
Only thing that's sucky about Tekken is the fact that it doesn't really feel like a fight, it's just a combo then the bloke falls on the floor, then he punches you in the face and you fall, then one of them just does a cool grab attack and flings you across the screen and then k.o. It's not like a block hit block hit block counter, hit knock down, ground punches and then knockout... It just doesn't feel like a real fight.
actually it isn't like that at all. theres a lot of counter moves and parrys. All these videos you see where dudes are doing like 15hit combos are because they're playing against the computer. Games like SF have just recently added things like counter moves. I was skeptical back in the day but man I'm so in love with this series because it isn't like SF. SF is about spacing,tekken is about fooling your opponent into weather you're going to attack high or low or mid.
ive played this at the pacific mall arcade a few weeks ago....i can tell its pure amazing...gameplay is much faster pace and the graphics are so much better. Also just playing in front of a huge screen at pacific mall made it a better experience.
Not enough action in this game like marvel vs capcom,bloody roar,street fighter,dark stalkers,fatal fury,capcom vs snk..Those the real fighting games..The game play was alot faster..The moves were way better also..

perhaps it is the video is formatted so much that the graphics do not intrigue any more than the last Tekken released. As a lifelong Tekken fan I appreciate the new "enviro-mods" wall breaking etc. I feel that multi-player ass kicking is both a right and a privilege. I yearn to bludgeon people around and about the head from each corner of the globe whenever possible ,and YEs virtual violence it is always necessary. This new rage feature sounds great too!

Personally I like Tekken's variety of characters more than DOA. Visually the game is also superior. However, DOA's fighting system will always be tops in my book. Pity there probably won't be anymore DOA games anytime soon :-(
Over all I know I will enjoy the game. But still I can't help to say that Tecmo was ripped off. Believe or not Doa has changed fighting games history. From it graphics, from it animation, and from it multiple stages. From that I thank tecmo, Otherwise Tekken would still probably look like tekken 4, with new characters.
I agree that DOA was the first 3d to have multi-stages but that idea has been around in 2d fighters for a long time now as for graphics, as computers get more powerful graphics will improve. I hardly think namco had to look at Doa to say "hey lets improve the look of our game"
DOA borrowed alot from VF series(like the game engine for one) the one idea that i will say was oringinal was the danger zone concept oh and the attention to boobs.
Hahaha!! Yeah tecmo was the first to bring bouncy boobs to 3D fighting games.
As for the powerful graphic, Tecmo did bring Revolution with 3D Graphic. Thanks Tomonobu Itagaki. As for 2D fighting games, that's on a different subject to 3D fighting games. It just like comparing The little meraid to toy story. You can't really compare that.
Moving on, he showed the power of the dreamcast and xbox which made Doa one of the best looking fighting games at the time. The point that I'm trying to say is, Doa raised the bar with graphic, boobs, animation, and stages. Namco had to use those elements to keep us fans interested. Doa have changed 3D fighting game history.
I get what your saying and I agree with you to a point. But you can't say that namco ripped off tecmo because none of these things were original idea's. If tecmo was not around tekken would still have improved it's graphics, animation, and stages.
But yes DOA 2 did up the antie and along with SC show the power of the dreamcast(R.I.P).
I understand and respect what you feel. But for my opinion, that's how I feel. Beside just about every game company do a little coping from someone else, to stay in with time. I never meant that Tecmo was a original in every little thing, I was simplely trying to say, that they change how fighting games looks and interact now. Dude I respect your opinion too and there's no hard feeling on myside of my monitor, it just(and this is just my opinion) I don't see DOA as being that groundbreaking or inportant a game. It's good, yeah and there are much worse games out there(exp: 3d MKs) but there also a lot better games(VF,TEKKEN,SC).
Also DOA has a very distincted look that I don't think any other game has or has tried to imitate.
DOA has a very clean anime look where as pretty much every other game in this genre aims for realism (to some degree at least). There was a change in look (bodywise) between 4 and 5 but I don't see DOA having anything to do with it. they don't now look like DOA charactors. Anyway like you said lets each have are diffrent views and leave it at that(otherwise we'll be here untill eternity making the same points over and over) ;)
As for the look of Dead or alive, I never meant or said that Namco copied the look of art work of dead or alive, or anyone else. I meant they copy graphic wise . Because at the time, no fighting game graphic looked like that, that's all ^_^
As much as I love the new Tekken 6. I have to admit that namco ripped off Doa with the new multiple stages idea. To make it wrost, somehow Doa still looks better to me. I can agree that tekken graphics is better. But some how dead or alive 4 is still holding it weights.
Matty I have to agree with you. DOA 2 is still one of my all time favourite (3D) fighting games on the PS2, with Tekken 5 coming a VERY close second. There's just something about the game I enjoy immensely. I remember the first time I played the game I picked it up rather easily. I just "clicked" with it.
While I only own a PS2, I HAVE played DOA 4 on the XBOX 360 and I LOVED it. The game was AMAZING, even more so than Tekken 5 for me. Will have to see if Tekken 6 can compete...
I wish, but I only own a PS2 :-( I had to spend 3 month's worth of salary on getting my car fixed a while back, so I'm a bit stuffed in the financial department. I MAY be getting an XBOX 360 from a friend come my birthday in January, so, fingers crossed :-D

Better check other stores cause I had the same problems here in my country cause there was only 1 store in my area.
But when other stores opened, they sold games at about $40 or so, so try checking other stores.

ive played this at the pacific mall arcade a few weeks ago....i can tell its pure amazing...gameplay is much faster pace and the graphics are so much better. Also just playing in front of a huge screen at pacific mall made it a better experience.

Not enough action in this game like marvel vs capcom,bloody roar,street fighter,dark stalkers,fatal fury,capcom vs snk..Those the real fighting games..The game play was alot faster..The moves were way better also..

perhaps it is the video is formatted so much that the graphics do not intrigue any more than the last Tekken released. As a lifelong Tekken fan I appreciate the new "enviro-mods" wall breaking etc. I feel that multi-player ass kicking is both a right and a privilege. I yearn to bludgeon people around and about the head from each corner of the globe whenever possible ,and YEs virtual violence it is always necessary. This new rage feature sounds great too!

if you like DOA or Street Fighter you will really love this! i cant wait tekken has been my fave game since i was like 7!!! i have been waiting so long for this i could cry the gameplays so smooth and there are millions of moves and combos tekken has the most fighting moves than most games and its just really fun its good with countering and doging and alot ov attacks can actully dodge a other players move while they attack god its just such a good game!

Personally I like Tekken's variety of characters more than DOA. Visually the game is also superior. However, DOA's fighting system will always be tops in my book. Pity there probably won't be anymore DOA games anytime soon :-(

Over all I know I will enjoy the game. But still I can't help to say that Tecmo was ripped off. Believe or not Doa has changed fighting games history. From it graphics, from it animation, and from it multiple stages. From that I thank tecmo, Otherwise Tekken would still probably look like tekken 4, with new characters.

I agree that DOA was the first 3d to have multi-stages but that idea has been around in 2d fighters for a long time now as for graphics, as computers get more powerful graphics will improve. I hardly think namco had to look at Doa to say "hey lets improve the look of our game"
DOA borrowed alot from VF series(like the game engine for one) the one idea that i will say was oringinal was the danger zone concept oh and the attention to boobs.

Hahaha!! Yeah tecmo was the first to bring bouncy boobs to 3D fighting games.
As for the powerful graphic, Tecmo did bring Revolution with 3D Graphic. Thanks Tomonobu Itagaki. As for 2D fighting games, that's on a different subject to 3D fighting games. It just like comparing The little meraid to toy story. You can't really compare that.

Moving on, he showed the power of the dreamcast and xbox which made Doa one of the best looking fighting games at the time. The point that I'm trying to say is, Doa raised the bar with graphic, boobs, animation, and stages. Namco had to use those elements to keep us fans interested. Doa have changed 3D fighting game history.

I get what your saying and I agree with you to a point. But you can't say that namco ripped off tecmo because none of these things were original idea's. If tecmo was not around tekken would still have improved it's graphics, animation, and stages.
But yes DOA 2 did up the antie and along with SC show the power of the dreamcast(R.I.P).

I understand and respect what you feel. But for my opinion, that's how I feel. Beside just about every game company do a little coping from someone else, to stay in with time. I never meant that Tecmo was a original in every little thing, I was simplely trying to say, that they change how fighting games looks and interact now. But at any case, you are in title to your opinion, just like I am in title to mines. And that is nothing wrong with that ^_^

Dude I respect your opinion too and there's no hard feeling on myside of my monitor, it just(and this is just my opinion) I don't see DOA as being that groundbreaking or inportant a game. It's good, yeah and there are much worse games out there(exp: 3d MKs) but there also a lot better games(VF,TEKKEN,SC).
Also DOA has a very distincted look that I don't think any other game has or has tried to imitate.

DOA has a very clean anime look where as pretty much every other game in this genre aims for realism (to some degree at least). There was a change in look (bodywise) between 4 and 5 but I don't see DOA having anything to do with it. they don't now look like DOA charactors. Anyway like you said lets each have are diffrent views and leave it at that(otherwise we'll be here untill eternity making the same points over and over) ;)

As for the look of Dead or alive, I never meant or said that Namco copied the look of art work of dead or alive, or anyone else. I meant they copy graphic wise . Because at the time, no fighting game graphic looked like that, that's all ^_^

As much as I love the new Tekken 6. I have to admit that namco ripped off Doa with the new multiple stages idea. To make it wrost, somehow Doa still looks better to me. I can agree that tekken graphics is better. But some how dead or alive 4 is still holding it weights.

Matty I have to agree with you. DOA 2 is still one of my all time favourite (3D) fighting games on the PS2, with Tekken 5 coming a VERY close second. There's just something about the game I enjoy immensely. I remember the first time I played the game I picked it up rather easily. I just "clicked" with it.
While I only own a PS2, I HAVE played DOA 4 on the XBOX 360 and I LOVED it. The game was AMAZING, even more so than Tekken 5 for me. Will have to see if Tekken 6 can compete...
