@rrvelasco At first, you will have to make a rough guess. As you finialize your WD set up, you will have to add or remove washers to make it so the spring bars sit level with the trailer frame. If the spring bars sit to high, you will need to add a washer or two, depending on how much adjustment is required. Remove washers to raise accordingly.
Usually bumper hitches do not have as high of a weight capacity as frame mounted hitches. I would recommend using a frame mounted hitch on your Dodge truck to tow your camper.
Ok I know this is a stupid noob question but how exactly does this work ? Does it pull down more where the chains are and less on the ball ? It just seems to me that it would not change the weight on the ball much ? Like I said I am a noob so don't flame me for asking a question.
Weight distribution hitches add spring bars to the hitch system which are used to apply leverage between the tow vehicle and the trailer. This leverage transfers the load sitting on the rear of the vehicle to all the axles of the vehicle and trailer. With the trailer tongue and rear cargo load distributed between the axles, the vehicle is leveled off and performance is greatly increased. Weight distributing systems should be used any time the trailer weighs more than 50% of the vehicle weight.
Ok so I have a 96 Crown Victoria and a 79 Apache Ramada (2000 lbs) I am thinking about using one of these just to help keep my tow car more level. I have air shocks but they lower when hitched up. Will this lift my car back up ? I there any case where this is not needed in a tow ?
A weight distribution setup can only be used with a class III, IV or V trailer hitch (2 inch receiver opening). If you have a 2 inch hitch, a weight distribution hitch will help you keep your trailer level. Yes, the air shocks will lift your vehicle back up. Let us know if you need anything else.
Thanks for this video. I am a loyal customer of 3 years and this video helped me out for the first time today. Even though I had to use the 4x4 to get the camper out of the fairgrounds ...lol. Please keep the videos coming. Also can I request a video?

I have a 1967 woodsman camper and a 1994 dodge1500 with a 360 motor and bumper hitch... Stock
Are they compatible? Or should install a frame mounted hitch?
