Off all the things that you could say, I am most struck by the fact that there is greater space for dialogue between you & I, between you & others, between people across physical differences or virtual distances. Speak with all your colleagues -regardless of difference. it only broadens all your worlds. Let them laugh.

i never thought of it like that. would u say the cultural stereotype of the sultry "latina" stems from this line of thought? considering south american/carribean latin are supposed to be an amalgamation of italian, spanish, african, indigenous american, irish, etc. (gisele bunchen, shakira, selma hayek are of course oddly enough pretty much all white)

@maulpreylion Indeed. The mulatto woman is the throw away woman for black and white men to lust after, but not marry because she's got no daddy no one to take care of her. It's an awful stereotype that sits at the core of 'race' because OBVIOUSLY mixed race people stand in the face of social division. People won't be divided, regardless of the rules, and mixed race people force that issue in the minds of many.

Thanks for this. On ANTM the indian girl said she wasn't treated as well as the lighter skin indians. She had low self esteem because of this. I never understood this. Some people thought I didn't have a right to comment on certanin black issues when I was growing up bc of my light skin. My parents always told us we are black, though we are a product of black and white. This has always baffled me. Great topic.
