You can't show me an Islamic country that has allowed a critical scholarship to develop. No one is allowed to challenge the dogma. Western society has seen the kind of progress it has precisely because it was able to shake off the shackles religious/ideological fundamentalism. And now threats of violence keep Islam free of intellectual honesty.

the fact is the west supports and protects status quo governments that is the reason for this, it benefits US hegemony in the region.
even Islamic states, that are not directly supported and protected with economic and diplomatic support from the western world. like Iran you only need to look at there history to see how the west brought about an a more islamic fundamental state.

That's not completely accurate, Joe. I read Blum's book and he was wrong on some key points. While the US did side with Muslim fighters against the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, it was purely politics. Britain and France tried to destroy Islam by force but then opted to place secular elites throughout the Middle East as they carved up the region. In fact the overwhelming majority of Muslim "countries" are weak secular nation state with pro-Western client regimes.
I really don't know what makes me want to puke more: The Islamo-nazi infiltrators, or their native-born patsy collaborationist dupes.
