  • Possibly the best scene from the film. It was like a scene from a video game.

  • Children of men is good.. nothing to do with this movie, but if you like single camera angls.. get to the end of the movie.. best 30 minute scene

  • FUCKING AWESOME!!!

  • Shadow Complex...without guns...and it in S.Korea..

  • Realistic? Trolling?

  • That was an excellent movie, but I definitely have to agree that that was the best and most realistic fight scene EVER! Every punch, hammer and bat swing look like it connected.

  • Amazing scene!

  • at 1:41 that guy slipped trying to uppercut the guy cause of the blood on the floor.

  • wait ... you were actually serious about this being realistic? looked like the fakest shit ever

  • @areyu93 Yeah, were's the flying kicks, dragon punchs and the ultra-mega deadly fearless slow motion back-flipping tornados of doom??? And they look... tired... so odd. It's ridiculous... xP

  • @DarkGexx guys that werent even doing anything looked tired....and there was all these guys with bats but only one would hit him at a time,,and he push one and they all fall over...not realistic at all

  • this does look very realistic. i like how theres interactions with the environment like slipping on the floors. and how they look very tired.

  • yup great fight scene, but how in the world (and not trying to offend) is that realistic xD.... anyways good fight.. :D

  • You know one of those guys looked at one of those broken bats and thought,"Well what the hell? Why did this break so easily?Made in China?!Well fuck!I thought we were importing our weapons! We've had this problem before!Okay okay, next time,we get better weapons and we'll kick his ass!"

  • 1:41 is that guy uppercutting the air or what?

  • @Jurianug It's either a goof, or he thought Oh Dae-su was gonna move forward just as he started the punch. Or he could have been hit before hand and that was the best he could try and do because he falls down straight after, clutching his leg.

  • Bad ass!

  • Very nice music and camera style... but not very realistic... just look at that sticks for example - they broke in pieces.

  • Realistic? I thought you were joking but after reading the comments I actually see that there are people who agrees with you!!!

If this was the least super tiny bit realistic, once he's down he would never get up again. He would be taking his last breaths at 0:17

  • @DaXia333 It's realistic in the sense that this scene is just one. You don't see change of cameras during the scene which means they planned three minutes for this fight. There are no special effects either. Of course the odds are that in real life he probably would've been owned (though I think the director clearly wanted to show that the protagonist knew how to fight and the others didn't), but then if that happened this scene wouldn't be epic anymore :P

  • This movie was phenominal. Along with the rest of the trilogy. This is by far one fo the best fight scenes ever made.

  • Amazing, beautiful and brutal, even had a realistic perspective. I haven't seen anything like it before.

  • No Whipping noises when throwing punches, no ridiculously exaggerated choreography, no one hit death touch. This is a good fight scene that is believable from the idea that a very skilled fighter is being ganged up on.

  • there arent any reality in this shit...

  • On of the main reasons in my mind that this is good is its not cut to shit. we dont need to see a fight from 135 different angles in the course of a few minutes.

  • @fishtankbank

Your comment made my day, i just hate it when they pack an action scene with all th em crazy angles you dont really need

  • If you look closely, this fight sure as hell isn't realistic - for example, consider the guys on the right side drawing back without being hit at all at 0:23. The punches look realistic enough though, and more importantly, the whole fight scene just looks damn awesome. Love this movie.

  • those guys are pussies lol they can only take 2-3 punches? it is pretty realistic except for the fact that none of them even attempt to block his punches...

  • look at the guy at 1:38 who breaks his bat against the wall

look how he gets pulled down and never gets up.

  • @dlioclk watch his ankles, one of them gets fucked up when he falls.

  • @aweomae oh thanks I didn't notice that. Looks painful indeed.

  • 23 guys 1 hammer

  • 23 guys 1 hammer

  • 1:55 does he have a knife in his back??

  • @reece12cool he got stabbed at 0:37

  • One of my favorite movies of all time. Beats most of the bullshit being made here in the U.S.

  • Epic.

  • hmm the guy owned himself at 1.43 when trying to punch and miss too hard haha!

  • no editing, one take. pure awesome.

  • Wow... I have got to see this movie. This is the only fight scene where one guy takes on 50 that looks possible.

  • I'm not entirely sure why there's quite a few "realistic? Bullshit" type comments.

When he got ganged up on the ground, both times it was for...roughly 6-8 seconds tops? Got hit like 10-20 times, that's more annoying than anything else at that point of the fight.

The knife in his back...judging by it's position, it's below shoulder blades and as long as it didn't hit his spine, which is quite possible, it would be just a nuisance.

  • @0963saihttam shoulder blade isn't that low bro.....if anything that's in the thoracic cage....

  • no doubt this is a great fight scene and the most realistic thing about it is that this dude gets hit once in a while but seriously....the man has a fucking knife in his back and he's still going after he got gang raped on the ground TWICE....good fight scene? HELL YEA...realistic? not even close

  • @deadshot278 it would hurt like a son of a mother but judging by the stab position you would be able to keep fighting, and probably the most realistic thing is that he didn't pull the knife out, in most movies they would do it right away but in reality it will just unblock the wound and you'll bleed out..

  • Is it a Korean thing to have fight scenes that are like one vs. an army? because city of violence had a scene where a guy or couple fight a whole gang of people =o just wondering =)

  • @tofutony The incredible of the scene is how it plays with the emotions in a violent way. You should see the movie to understand it a little better. (a fucking awesome movie with a incredible story and one badass fricking awesome end by the way...)

  • TAKE OUT THE FKING KNIFE

  • um, how is this film most realistic, looks all the same really

  • realistic my ass

  • watching this again i still think goldeneye had a more realistic brutal fight scene

  • i love the part when he's getting beat down then he gets up and grabs the dudes leg and bum rushes like 10 of them to the ground. the music helps too.

  • This is awesome. Just one long shot! These guys rock. Very different to fight scenes usually. I wonder how many shots they had to take until they got this.

  • Amazing. Superlative story telling without so much as one word of dialog.

  • If I was him at 1:06 I would grab the stabbed knife in my back and cut the motherfuckers.

  • It's like one of those scrolling fighting games from years back.

  • America was in production with a remake of this movie. Will smith was going to be old boy but, it failed prolly to fucked up of a story for an American film. They would have fucked it up but would have been cool to see!

  • I could easily defeat the same number of guys without even throwing a punch, just don't shower for 3 weeks! It works great, the exact same effect.

  • it is a great scene but i think the most realistic kind of fight scenes would be from the undisciplined, things like green street? but for a discpline, this is most realistic

  • ...well he does have a hammer

  • cool film

  • 0:10 lol they jsut stand there?

  • This is fucking brilliant. Considering that it's not real, and it's 3 minutes and 11 seconds.

Now this is some true talent right here.

  • good directing

  • 1:42 ! FAILED UPPERCUT FTW!

  • i dont even think this movie is that action packed. Its more psychological than anything else. But this scene, and the rest of the movie for that matter, blew my brain. it didnt turn out how i thought it would.... and disclaimer... it gets pretty dark.

  • @primusfeces mes lso check never backdown, they got some sick fights

  • @primusfeces of course it isn't action packed its asian

  • unlike most movie fight scenes

    this is all one scene

except for the end when the elevator arrives

    great movie

  • nah i reckon goldeneye form 1995 was realistic with bond vs trevylin

  • yeah it does look more realistic than many of the fighting scenes you see today

  • bullshit

  • small hallway....one guy with hammer...

lots of enemies = GOLD XD!!!!!!

  • Only one shot. Nice.

  • laughin at 112

  • i wana se them all fight jet li :)

  • This movie was just insane. I spent the first 30 minutes making jokes, but man what a thinkpiece

  • I hope hollywood does not remake this film.

  • Rushing is always the best strategy

    rushing is also called blitzkreig

the Germans used blitzkreig and took almost all of Europe

  • Freakin Nazi!!!

  • Hey the Germans did have the right idea to do that strategy and even if they are dirty bastards, they used the best strategy at the beginning of the war

  • must watch fighting movie is blood and bone

  • Tarantino fav movie at the Cannes Festival 2004. This would have won best pic at Cannes if it wasn't for Farenheit 9/11...which isn't a movie, more of a psudo documentary. Tarantino was loving this movie when he was on the panel of judges that yr

  • That was awesome! The dude got stuck in the back and still kicked all their butts! I'll have to find this movie. It looks amazing.

  • Oh this movie is very unique.....be forewarned not for the faint of heart. Alot of taboo stuff on here.

  • @davey1boy This movie was good up until the incest revelation in the last half hour and it all went to shit. Dissapointing because everything up until then was great.

  • @davey1boy Whats Taboo?

  • You need a strong stomach for this one, it has some ... realy painful moments. It is worth watching though

  • and how can you hate the ending?! the ending is what lifts this movie from 10/10 to 20/10!! would never see that coming lol, great acting too

  • damn i never seen this movie but that fight scene was pretty cool

  • i liked only the first three quarters of the movie but good film indeed

  • I agree, hated the ending

But I am glad davey1boy agrees with me, that is the best fight scene in any action movie I've seen

  • listen watch flash point end fight and u will change your mind seriously

  • oh shut up. stop praising donnie yen ffs. yes, hes awesome. but fact is none of the end fight is really realistic. youd NEVER see that in a real fight, not that long either, in terms of realistic this is closest thing ive ever seen.

  • wut are u talking about in oldboy he gets a knife stuck in his back gets hit by a couple of sticks plus he is a old guy and still got up that my friend is not realistic

yea donnie yen fight scene might be a little non realistic but the fight wuz still awesome best believe that

  • How could you hate the ending?! It was flawless!

I guess people have different taste. Oh, well.

  • Best Film Of All Time.I Love It.

  • its really violent. and how the hell is he supposed to be fighting with a knife stuck in his back the whole time

  • This is shit

  • Is this movie any good? Im trying to expand my fighting movies, so far ive only got Ong-Bak,Fearless,City of Violence, and Warriors.

  • Not a flashy fighting movie. It's more like a psychological film. If you wanna find a good fighting movie, I suggest "Spare".

  • You should check out IpMan in my opionion is the best fighting movie i have seen. Also check out meals on wheels there are some really good fight scenes in that too.

  • @moisheham

    Alright thanks

  • lol not bat at all.....except for the uppercut guy that misses the target from 5 meters

  • You're very easily impressed then

  • masterpiece scene

all of this taken in one single shot without a cut

  • GREAT!!

Do someone know how this soundtradck is called? its a very good theme. . .

    THNX

  • seriously? you didn't think that was a good fight scene? maybe it was the quality of your video or something.

All i can say is this man; Old Boy is one of the best movies you'll ever see.

  • you're an idiot.. what do you think is a realistic movie fight scene then?

  • It's not like you can watch yourself while you fight, so who cares.

Actually, normal fights look pretty damn lame.

  • haha true that

  • this scene is filmed so well. everyone in the scene is doing something, and not for one second do any of them go out of character.

it was hilarious when the elevator opened and the people inside were like "the fuck...?"

  • i dunno man i think there's a few guys who leave the shot and don't come back into it...but still you right this scene is fucking sick.

best part is right before this when he cocks back the hammer and you see the dotted line connect with the guy's head like tttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt---BING!

  • they eventually all come back, maybe they're just recovering from wounds or something

  • Its like a scene from Double Dragon done right. Must see movie who those who haven't seen it. You'll be thinking about it for days if not weeks

  • after watching this clip i was like "WHAT!!" def going 2 go rent this movie now.

  • Trust me!

  • i luv the guy at 1:43 who tries do strike oh dae su and fails... hilarious

  • its funny, i typed in "realistic fight scenes" in the search engine and came across this little gem. it really is somewhat realistic aside from the fact that he still has a blade stuck in his back but i love the fact that he's straight up fighting them boxing style more than martial arts.

  • ya its not chuck norris just kicking the fuck of everybody.... and i love how he goes back near the end to get his hammer ha

  • Spiler for those who haven't seen the movie:

Am I the only one who immediately guessed that the waitress he was talking to was his daughter? I did while I was watching with my friends and they were like "dude, you just ruined the whole movie for yourself...."

  • Predictably, they started losing once they went in one at a time. Standard movie ninja tactics.

  • A man's strugle to survive in this world... lone wolf... lol

  • epic scene - epic movie

  • its somewhat realistic... i jus wanna kno how in the fuck is he still movin with the dam hatchet stuck in his spine

  • I read the plot of this movie once, never got to watch it, I just got done watching it and now I add it to my favorite fight scenes

  • if it wasn't in such a narrow hallway it wouldn't look very plausible, great fight scene.

  • Dammit where's the "Extra Life" and "Health Packs" lol :P

  • What an awesome scene! And all shot in one take!

  • i love this movie
