This is absolutely the best album/music of Elton ever. I was 14 and still know all the words at 57. He is so talented and has continued to be so, with the times
Ej's best stuff was much better when he was young. He eventually became commercialized and looked ridiculous on stage with big glasses and clown shoes. what a talent he was. i was 8 when i first heard this. my older brothers and sisters would play this on their stereos. loved it then. still do.
I was 11 years old when this album first came out, and my mother gave me 50 cents to ride the subway, and $12 to buy the album . I rode from the Bronx to the record store in Grand Central Station so I could buy it. I learned every note and every lyric before the day ended.
A treasured memory, and though far from Grand Central today, I fortunately, am able to pass to my child. As we drive in the car, I put this CD in the player, and he sings every word, at 6 years old.
@bchannellbchannell Your post was great. Thank you. I am exactly like you. Would walk over hot coals for good music. Very odd human condition isnt it?i
God what memories, I this was the music I went to sleep with after watching Johny Carson, I would put on my head phones, put the needle on the record and just floated away.. I wore out 4 new records. Somehow at one point in my young life I totaly forgot about this album. 38 years later our Harp teacher at our music strumed a few cords and it hit me like lighting, COME DOWN IN TIME, holly crap.. I'm in love all over again with the best album ever created..
Elton John has changed styles throughout his career because of the creative genius.
He's not only constantly evolving, but he's also aware that if you don't change with the times as a performer, your 'dead in the water' financially and otherwise.
I truly believe that this was his BEST music evern. I know Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is brilliant also, but there is something about this album ( shows my age) that really resonated with me at the time. I was very young. I would listen to it over and over. I still play it.
I used to dream about playing the piano with Elton when I was 10. I don't now and am 44. Certainly there was some magic taking place at a certain place and a certain time.
@sadcracker My parents had me take piano lessons but by being forced, I eventually quit the lessons...But then I heard "Your Song" and started playing again. As far of dreaming of playing piano WITH him? I would have totally froze up. lol!
Thank you for posting this obscure song!!!! I used to have two of Elton John's albums and had forgotten all about this until I heard it again tonight. Elton and Bernie wrote & performed really timeless music. Sounds better than ever!
"Love Song", which is the first song on this video, is truly one of my all time favvorite songs. I have always loved this whole album. I have liked his earlier stuff, too. However, I got a chance to see him live, just him and his piano, in Asheville, NC about six or eight years ago, and I will tell you, it is quite a treat to see a master musician. So, say what you will about his later stuff, the man really knows his stuff.
It's a shame most people don't know about early Elton John before Crocodile Rock. This stuff is priceless! The best voice, the best recording artist of all time!
Dit Toe!! I don't know what happened after Yellow Brick Road but other people still dug him. Must've been that fukken DISCO shit cuz he sure blinged up or his breakup with Bernie.Sitting here with my granddaughter on my lap hoping some of this will influence her later in life.
wow I`m lucky to have the vinal record its awesome to kno ppl still kno him I think they should of played this on the radio along with talkn old soldier but hes great and very talented I love him <33
everybody says Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is EJ/BT masterpiece, this record is just flawless....and I LOVE that his voice stands up without his masterful piano....it often gets overlooked that EJ has one of the sweetest amazing voices, and the talent to back up what he's saying

Both these songs reminds of a certain girl I knew, kind and loving one day, then she'd get cold and avoid me the next.
