(based on a few overviews & reviews I've read) He talks about the Jews historical connection to the holy land (which I do not deny) but he does not afford the same importance of the arab muslims historical connection (1200 years is also a very long time) I've ordered it in any case, I will definately read it. :o)

There are not that many Arab knesset members and I'm sure they were unhappy with the legislation that Netanyahu recently introduced about pledging alligance to Israel as a Jewish state. After 70 years of persecution of the muslim people in Israel, the PA say that in retaliation aand anger.
@fionam69 Israeli arabs are treated pretty well. They live better in Israel than in arab countries. I think you are confusing the Israeli arabs with the arabs who are not citizens. The Israeli arabs don't want to move to Gaza or Ramallah or any of those cities. They like living in Israel. Jews however would be torn apart if they entered arab neighborhoods. There are neighborhoods that are no go for the Israeli police.

The Jews were permitted to live in various cities at various times and they did. Check out the history of Hebron or Tsfat to get a flavor of what happened.

@fionam69 I beg to differ about who saves human lives. When people are gravely ill, whom do they turn to. As for your second point, it wasn't until 1959 that Israel got any aid from the US. There were several wars prior to that one in 1947 and one 1956. Israel did not have the proper weapons etc. The secular govt of Israel forgot to acknowledge G-d in their victory...but it was a miracle nevertheless. I guess it is easy to dismiss Dviine mercy when it is only viewable with hindsight.

That is because there was never an arab country called Palestine. When Egypt and Jordan occupied the area, it was not considered occupied. Arafat came up with the myth that the land belongs to them. But they have no legal claim to the area. That is why they need Israel to agree or it would be theirs.

(based on a few overviews & reviews I've read) He talks about the Jews historical connection to the holy land (which I do not deny) but he does not afford the same importance of the arab muslims historical connection (1200 years is also a very long time) I've ordered it in any case, I will definately read it. :o)

@Bruriah1 OK, there are Arabs in Israel because they were there when Israel was created and some stayed, although everything I read suggests that the majority are not happy with the way they're treated. There are not that many Arab knesset members and I'm sure they were unhappy with the legislation that Netanyahu recently introduced about pledging alligance to Israel as a Jewish state. After 70 years of persecution of the muslim people in Israel, the PA say that in retaliation aand anger.

@fionam69 Israeli arabs are treated pretty well. They live better in Israel than in arab countries. I think you are confusing the Israeli arabs with the arabs who are not citizens. The Israeli arabs don't want to move to Gaza or Ramallah or any of those cities. They like living in Israel. Jews however would be torn apart if they entered arab neighborhoods. There are neighborhoods that are no go for the Israeli police.

No mention of anything else and I beleive that any Ilan Pappe says cannot be trusted. So don't take my word for google for yourself and you see the bio on him.

Also the great write Josephus from the first century AD wrote extensively about the Jewish presence in Israel. Whom do you think the Byzantines, the Crusaders killed if not Jews? The Jews were permitted to live in various cities at various times and they did. Check out the history of Hebron or Tsfat to get a flavor of what happened.

@fionam69 I beg to differ about who saves human lives. When people are gravely ill, whom do they turn to. As for your second point, it wasn't until 1959 that Israel got any aid from the US. There were several wars prior to that one in 1947 and one 1956. Israel did not have the proper weapons etc. The secular govt of Israel forgot to acknowledge G-d in their victory...but it was a miracle nevertheless. I guess it is easy to dismiss Dviine mercy when it is only viewable with hindsight.

Palestine was a muslim country pre-1948, where jews, muslims and christians all lived together in peace. When Britain allowed part of that land to be given to the displaced Jews from WW2, Zionists destroyed that peace and took it all for themselves. @fryday10 I read the independent press of the UK, not Arab propaganda. If you served in those places then you are a monster. In Lebanon you targetted hospitals, schools and even the UN! The IDF used children as human shields. Israel have become the Nazis. Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and such organisations condemn the acts of the IDF. @fryday10 Type 'Israeli warcrimes in Lebanon' into google, Amnesty or Human Rights watch and you will see the reports. The majority of the dead were civilians, a third of them were children, . All routes of escape destroyed, convoys of fleeing families, killed. You destroyed the UN observation post, in the hope that none of your war crimes would be discovered. Just to mention that after the abduction of three soldiers, the IDF troops entered Lebanon, and in response Hezbollah fired thousands of rockets on towns in Northern Israel killing civilians, Only at this stage it was decided to bomb the Dahiya, but not before the residents were given an extension of 48 hours to evacuate the area. Anyway, I have a limit to how much ignorance I can listen to, you are young and maybe when you are older and wiser, you will learn the truth. i hope your conscience will be able to cope with it. Israeli state education does not teach you the wholetruth about your history. Read Robert Fisk from The Independent for a start.

Deborah Lipstadt challenged David Irving in court and won the lawsuit. So if you are referring to Robert Fisk, it is quite obvious the way you feel about Jews and Israel. @Bruriah1 I'm sure Robert Fisk would not be happy to hear that. He has lived in the Middle East for 30 years and has written articles for The Independent & books on many major conflicts. He is a very well respected journalist and author in the world, he is NOT a holocaust denier! He is NOT anti-semitic. He lectures at Cambridge, Oxford and all other Internationally respected Institutes. He reports all sides of any conflict and offers a balanced insight. David Irving is a DICK and to be ignored.

@fionam69 The PA and others are engaged in rewriting history to fit their revisionist plans. There are books out there that have been out before this revisionism has begun. There is a political agenda to wipe Israel off the map. If you manage to read Shmuel Katz's book, perhaps then, if you have an open mind, you will see how things are different.

The UK & other Euro Govs support Israel unconditionally almost. That is why there is so much uproar when Israel escape critcism when they do very bad things. Israel will never cease to be. What I don't agree with is the inhumane way Arabs are viewed and treated by Israel. They simply do not see Palestinians as people. It's deep seated hatred and it's wrong

Isn't that what you really mean? As for your second comment, Israeli arabs have a pretty nice standard of living, have jobs go to universities, get all sorts of good benefits. Israeli arabs prefer to live in Israel then move to Gaza. They also are knesset members. So your statements are absolutely false.
