  • It's like a situation you'd see on Family Guy. I love it!

  • I always thought it would be neat to see the animals talk in pocahontas.I think they should have went with that lol

  • I will never look at Percy the same way again after hearing him talk.

  • kind of makes u wonder how meeko and flit wouldve sound if they talked

  • So, does this mean someone was actually paid and took the time to say all of percy's lines just to have them all removed for the entire film?

  • I would have taken anything John Candy over Flit and Meeko, personally.

  • @MagicEmperor Yeah even if he only had a handful of lines. Would have been great.

  • Scuttle you've been replaced. By Redfeather.

  • Igad! Percy speaks!

  • What is name Turkey?

  • Pocahontas might have actually been a much better movie if they didn't take it so seriously. Even this simple scene is so interesting, with the Turkey clashing with a British Dog... lol.

  • this has to be re-recorded, or not finalized, that sounds nothing like John Candy.

  • Personally, I probably would have liked seeing/hearing the animals talk in Pocahontas. But in a way, I'm happy they didn't go through on it. And I actually LOVE Disney movies where animals can talk.

  • Percy kinda sounds like Alan Rickman

  • Btw, did you know that when Percy was a speaking character, he was supposed to have been voiced by Richard E. Grant? (Withnail and I, Corpse Bride)

  • Hilarious scene, the turkey reminds me of the more modern day disney

  • This voice for Percy sounds like the original voice for Wiggins (see deleted scene entitled "Early Wiggins").

  • i didn't mean to get so serious. it's just like my brother said. why so serious?

  • John Candy Died In 1994 Before He Was About To Voice An Animated Turkey?!?!?!

  • Sometimes the animals can say more by not talking. I mean look at the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron. Epic emotions.

  • So the animals were supposed to talk originally? Kind of glad they scrapped the idea- animals talk in all the movies

  • Ugh, I don't like the idea of Percy talking.

  • I never knew this turkey exsisted until now... huh.

  • The animation in this test is by Chris Buck (Percy) and Nik Ranieri (Red Feather) . In the final film Nik Ranieri was the lead animator on Meeko , while Chris Buck was the lead animator on Percy.

  • That sounds like Corey Burton imitating John Candy. If it is, I must say that's pretty good!

  • Or perhaps I'm wrong. That may be Jeff Bennett imitating John Candy. I'm not sure...

  • Yea, theres not Mysical magic in pocahontas like in other tales, so itd be weird if he talked. Like at least with like Flounder there was magic in that film but this was based on real events and a dog talking is obviously not.

  • lol I see whut you did thar.

  • There's a talking tree in Pocahontas. You're telling me that's not magic?

  • That was more of a way to show the spiritual side of the tree. It wouldn't be understood if she was talking to a random tree. But people of her kind believed that trees and rocks and all were spirits.

  • I'm kind of torn.... I would have kind of liked to see him in the film, even though it seems most people would not. I guess I don't feel that strongly about the movie anyway.

I do agree that Percy is best left silent.

  • This is very interesting! Thank you for posting.

  • Geeze, good for no talking animals. I think I'd scream if they had voices. o.O

    Very awesome tho! ^_^

  • originally they cut meeko but then put him back and the turkey became sunday dinner.

  • Oh, they did? How do you know that?

  • At Disney's MGM Studios in Florida, there's an animation talk you can attend where they explain it.

  • John Candy was slated to voice Redfeather (the turkey), but when he died, they re-thought the role of the animals and whether they should speak.

  • And if Redfeather had made it into the final film, it would've added another Disney bird voice to John Candy's resume, since he had already provided the voice of Wilbur in "The Rescuers Down Under".

  • Man, Percy would have annoyed me more if he spoke. D:

Good thing they cut him out, and I think Meeko was enough comedy relief for the movie. :D

  • I'm glad they stopped the animals talking.

  • Wow. Animation of Redfreather- and Percy talking! Very cool.

  • I had heard of this character and it's amazing to see that the character lasted that long into the process. Where did you find this?

  • damn the movie would have been a lot more kid-friendly if he stayed

  • awesome i love deleted scenes!! post more!!

  • This is wierd. The animals in Pocahontas were originally supposed to talk? That is so funny1

  • I think after they replaced Redfeather with Flit and Meeko they decided that talking animals would totaly destroy any mood they were trying to create with the serious theme.

  • Also, I believe Cinderella tried to let all the animals talk. They decided to just go with the mice because it would have taken attention away from the main story too much.

  • Actually, from what i gathered, pocahontas was gonna be a more light-hearted film, but after beauty an the beast got a best picture nod, jefferey kaztenberg forced the movie to be a drama, so it can be recognized. unfortuntely, it made the movie more pretentious. Good, but pretentious.
